Chapter 78 - #78

"Incoming!"

Obito's Sharingan barely caught the movement. His body, however, reacted on instinct.

Mufasa's fist shot toward his left shoulder, crackling with electricity. Obito's body phased automatically, allowing the attack to pass through.

But before he could exhale, another punch struck his back.

Kamui.

Obito flickered intangible once again, but the pressure was mounting.

The more he avoided, the more relentless Mufasa became.

From the outside, the battlefield was an explosion of lightning and thunder.

Flashes of electricity flickered like fireflies, illuminating the inside of the electromagnetic mirrors.

Every few seconds, a new burst of energy erupted, the frequency increasing.

The entire space was turning into a blinding sea of lightning.

And within it, Mufasa was accelerating.

Obito gritted his teeth. He knew if he didn't escape now, before his time limit ran out—

He'd be hit.

Kamui activated at full power.

A black vortex spiraled from his right eye, pulling his body inward.

He could feel himself slipping into the dimensional void.

Mufasa saw it happen. He smirked.

"Oh? Trying to run?"

In a flash, he lunged forward—diving straight into the Kamui space alongside Obito.

The battlefield went silent.

The mirrors vanished, the storm of lightning dissipated.

Mufasa and Obito were gone.

Gaara and Sasuke tensed, preparing to search for them, but before they could react, another black vortex swirled into existence.

Mufasa stepped out, alone.

He stretched, cracked his knuckles, and glanced at the bewildered shinobi surrounding him.

"Don't worry about it," he said casually. "That guy admitted his mistake. It's settled."

He waved them off. "Go get some rest."

Then he turned. "Sasuke. Come with me."

Inside Mufasa's tent, he studied Sasuke carefully. "Alright. Activate your Sharingan."

Sasuke, a bit confused, did as he was told. His twin tomoe spun into view.

Mufasa frowned. "Still at two tomoe, huh?"

Sasuke hesitated. "I... don't know how to evolve it further."

Mufasa folded his arms. "Right. Because you never fought Itachi at the Valley of the End."

Sasuke stiffened. He hadn't experienced the emotional trauma required to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan.

With his bond with his brother mended, he had no idea how to trigger the transformation.

Mufasa clapped him on the shoulder. "We'll leave that up to science."

Sasuke blinked. "...Science?"

Mufasa grinned. "Yup. Now go get some sleep."

Sasuke, still confused, left the tent.

Mufasa hummed to himself, wiping his hand across the table, his fingers brushing over a lone Sharingan he had... acquired.

Flashback

Inside Kamui's dimension—

Obito stood frozen as Mufasa suddenly reappeared before him.

There was a long pause.

Obito forced a snort, crossing his arms.

"Hmph. You really don't value your life, do you? Rushing into my domain like this... Foolish." His Sharingan gleamed. "Here, I am a god. I control everything."

Mufasa tilted his head. "Oh?"

Obito smirked. "You've sealed your fate. There is no escape. You—"

Mufasa raised a hand. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. But listen…"

He suddenly clapped his hands together.

The space trembled.

A simulated black hole formed between his palms.

Obito's face paled.

Mufasa grinned. "If this dimension doesn't include me, then there's no need for it to exist, right?"

Obito broke into a cold sweat. "Wait—! Hold on, Kazekage! Let's talk about this!"

Mufasa flexed his fingers.

The black hole pulsed ominously.

Obito immediately dropped his act.

"Alright! I was wrong!" He waved his hands frantically. "Please don't destroy Kamui's dimension! I still need this place!"

Mufasa's smirk deepened. "Hmph. So now you admit fault?"

Obito exhaled sharply. "What do you want?"

Mufasa glanced at the walls of Sharingan surrounding them.

His eyes gleamed with amusement.

"These eyeballs are kinda nice."

Obito tensed.

Mufasa sauntered over, casually plucking Sharingan from their holders. "Like rubies, really."

"Wait, wait, WAIT!" Obito's heart sank as he watched half his collection vanish into Mufasa's pockets. "Do you have any idea how hard those were to get?!"

Mufasa shrugged. "Finders keepers."

Obito groaned, rubbing his temples.

This was a nightmare.

With a final smirk, Mufasa spun on his heel. "Thanks for the souvenirs. See ya!"

Obito barely had time to process what had happened before Mufasa disappeared in a flash of light.

Obito let out a long, exhausted sigh.

"…This is the worst."

He glared at the empty wall.

Kazekage Mufasa: now officially labeled as a walking disaster.

The next day, Mufasa returned to the village, victorious.

The ninja army disbanded, each shinobi returning to their respective duties.

Mufasa, however, had another visit to make.

Orochimaru's lab.

"Yo, Orochimaru." Mufasa strolled in, whistling. "Look what I brought you."

He tossed a single Sharingan onto the table.

Orochimaru's eyes widened.

He picked it up, rolling it between his fingers, inspecting it with an almost reverent expression.

"A real Sharingan…" he murmured, bringing it closer to his face.

His lips curled. "Fascinating…"

Then his eyes narrowed slightly. "My lord… where exactly did you acquire this?"

Mufasa grinned. "Found it on the road."

Orochimaru's brow twitched. "...The road?"

Mufasa pulled out more Sharingan, letting them clatter onto the table.

Orochimaru stared, utterly dumbfounded.

"So many…"

A thought struck him, and he gasped dramatically. "My lord… you didn't go digging in the Uchiha Clan's graves, did you?!"

Mufasa rolled his eyes. "Nah, their eyes were long gone."

Orochimaru calmed, then smiled wickedly. "I assume this means we can begin full-scale Sharingan research?"

Mufasa nodded. "That's the plan."

Orochimaru licked his lips. "Excellent…"

"Oh, and," Mufasa added, "I heard there were some new researchers applying. Anyone interesting?"

Orochimaru tapped his chin. "Hmm… there's one from Konoha. Name's Shigaraki Tanuki."

Mufasa smirked.
