Changing someone's appearance is actually quite simple.

Bibi Dong's golden, flowing hair was dyed red. To conceal the color of her roots, she also wore a small lady's hat, making her head appear less out of place. A touch of light makeup completed the transformation.

The dark arts of East Asia had been successfully applied.

The former Bibi Dong now went by the alias Ye Dong'er, posing as a distant cousin of Ye Wen who had come to seek refuge with relatives. She would spend her days secluded deep within the Blue Silver Forest, cultivating in peace.

For a time, life returned to tranquility, and the Douluo Continent enjoyed a rare period of calm.

Recently, rumors spread about Tang Hao being pursued by the Spirit Hall, though the details were deliberately vague.

The usually arrogant and domineering Hao Tian Sect remained unusually silent regarding Tang Hao's plight.

While others were left puzzled by these events, Ye Wen understood the truth—Tang Hao's companion was indeed a 100,000-year spirit beast that had transformed into human form.

Gazing into the sky, Ye Wen's eyes grew profound.

"Asura God, Enforcer God… heh."

Fortunately, the gods of Douluo did not adhere to the rule where uttering their names would alert them; otherwise, Ye Wen would have already met his end.

As for Tang Hao's situation, Ye Wen had no intention of getting involved.

A mere 100,000-year spirit beast was nothing extraordinary. If one truly wanted to hunt it down, a thorough search at sea would inevitably yield results.

However, the people of this era on the Douluo Continent were narrow-minded and harbored a deep fear of the ocean, which deterred them from exploring its depths.

By now, Ye Wen had acquired the very same mode of transportation used by Tang San and his companions in the original story to reach the Sea God Island—the Dragon Abyss Boat.

This relic of a bygone era represented the pinnacle of its time, evidence that the once-lost civilization of soul-guiding tools had begun venturing into the seas.

The soul-guiding arrays etched onto the boat provided Ye Wen with immense inspiration, significantly contributing to his research in other areas.

Just as Ye Wen was deeply engrossed in his studies, Bi Hai Douluo, who had returned from investigating information about 500,000-year ferocious beasts among the mermaid clan, arrived back.

Accompanying her was the clan leader, Hai Te. Both wore solemn expressions as they faced Ye Wen.

This left Ye Wen somewhat baffled. Even if they hadn't found anything, there was no need for such seriousness, was there?

"Master Ye Wen, I heard that you intend to absorb a 500,000-year spirit beast as your eighth soul ring—is that correct?"

"That is indeed my intention, but if your clan cannot find one, I won't insist," Ye Wen replied amicably.

Upon confirming this news, Clan Leader Hai Te was visibly shaken.

A 500,000-year spirit beast, no matter how weak, far surpassed the strength of an ordinary 98th-level Title Douluo.

Lowering his head in deep thought, Hai Te finally spoke after a long pause.

"Our mermaid clan does know of a spirit beast of this age, and it is about to face the heavenly tribulation of 600,000 years."

Hearing this, Ye Wen immediately sensed an opportunity, but Hai Te's words trailed off, hinting at some underlying issue. Carefully, Ye Wen probed further.

"So, what exactly do you mean, Clan Leader Hai Te?"

"I require a promise from you. If you absorb its soul ring, you must protect both our mermaid clan and its kin."

Though Hai Te's tone was earnest, this condition posed a significant challenge for Ye Wen.

Protecting two entire races was no trivial matter—it wasn't like raising a couple of cats or dogs.

Thus, Ye Wen hesitated, "Clan Leader Hai Te, it's not that I refuse, but this request is beyond my capabilities. You know I'm merely a Soul Douluo—how could I possibly protect two entire races?"

"No, you can! As long as you become a god!"

At this, Hai Te's eyes turned blood-red, his expression filled with fervor.

As descendants of the mermaid clan who once followed the Sea God Poseidon, their records contained explicit accounts of gods and their history.

Ye Wen, at just 23 years old, had already reached the level of a Soul Douluo—a feat unparalleled in all of human history. This alone suggested the potential to ascend to godhood.

Ye Wen?

Though he coveted the Sea God's position, he had never voiced it aloud. Wasn't it strange that the merfolk were so eager to push someone else toward godhood instead of claiming it for themselves?

"Godhood, you say? Though I've heard whispers of it and harbor some thoughts on the matter, hearing you speak of it so directly is surprising," Ye Wen remarked.

"To think Master Ye Wen possesses such extensive knowledge—even aware of matters concerning the gods!" Hai Te was genuinely astonished. Information about gods was strictly classified in the current era of the Douluo Continent.

"Since we're being straightforward, I'll cut to the chase.

This elder, possessing 600,000 years of cultivation, has long been a benefactor to our mermaid clan.

He senses that he will not survive his next heavenly tribulation.

Thus, he hopes to find a successor capable of bearing his soul ring. That is why I thought of you. With your aptitude, you undoubtedly have the potential to ascend to godhood. According to ancient legends, you might even be able to resurrect this elder. Protecting both our clans would then be a simple matter."

With the conversation reaching this point, Ye Wen saw no reason to decline and readily accepted. He set off with the two of them on the journey to the Arctic Ice Plains.

However, none of the three noticed that, dozens of kilometers away, a breathtaking figure with snow-white hair and eyebrows watched them from afar.

"This direction leads to the Arctic Ice Plains. Those two appear to be members of the mermaid clan.

To think that in just over a decade, the Chosen One of this world has grown strong enough to rival Xiao Bing. The potential of the human race is truly terrifying."

Xue Di chose not to interfere. She believed that the world itself watched over its chosen child, and her role was simply to ensure his safety.

It was peculiar how the Douluo Star's geography was dominated by oceans, severely hindering communication between continents.

The fact that the top-tier powers of this extraordinary world couldn't even traverse the globe was laughable.

Even more suspicious was the collision between the Sun Moon Continent and the Douluo Continent in Douluo II. How could two continental plates, separated by tens of thousands of kilometers, collide within a mere ten thousand years?

Something about it didn't add up.

Continental drift typically occurred over tens of millions of years.

Moreover, during the transition from Douluo I to Douluo II, the Douluo Continent had already begun preliminary exploration of the seas. It was impossible for them to have missed the approach of the Sun Moon Continent.

Being caught off guard like that? Impossible.

It was yet another plot hole created by San Shao.

With the combined strength of Ye Wen and his companions, the journey proceeded smoothly. The Arctic Ice Plains remained as desolate and bone-chillingly cold as ever.

The mermaid clan's territory lay along the ocean adjacent to the Arctic Ice Plains.

While the mermaids could move freely in the water, Ye Wen could not. He was forced to wait on the shore for news.
