Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Numesa's Theory

Komaru went to the door pointed by Ryota, which was to his left. As he went through the door, he turned left, as instructed by Ryota.

After walking for a few seconds, he saw another door, leading to a big library.

As he entered the library, he saw a signboard saying- 'Be quiet! Or they will hear you.' Komaru ignored it and went towards the huge shelves.

This is much bigger than the one present in Delergen. Perhaps by reading here, more of my energy will be infused with my Principle...

When Komaru listened to the details of the third world war, a very small amount of energy rushed towards his black spot in his brain.

Although it was extremely small, but progress is still progress. At this rate, I will be able to evolve my Principle in less than 4 months.

Evolving the Principle to the Adept grade wasn't extremely hard. Most of the people were able to evolve easily. The real challenge began after getting to Adept grade.

Komaru strolled around the shelves for some time. He then picked a brown-coloured book.

With the book, he took a seat near the window.

The book's cover was made of goatskin. In Grazinas, goatskin was used a lot. Be it book coverings, writing pads or belts, it was used very frequently.

The title of the book was 'Beginning of Humanity". The author's name was Seanie Dohn.

Komaru flipped open the first page. He was relieved to see that the book was written in Solitun.

"Many theories have been made about how humans came into existence. But none of those are fully accepted. This is because there are too many coincidences present in those theories.

"Deanie Mile's Theory of Dietism states that the most ancient humans were the reincarnated versions of Ancient dieties named Gorgeras and Emilia. This theory sets up a very bold assumption, that every human has part of their consciousness evolved from Ancient dieties.

"This theory failed because there was a lack of evidence. Another very popular theory is Numesa's Theory which states that the first humans were created because some part of Caribela infused with her energy fell into the human world. These fragments took form of ancient humans.

"But such a development was very coincidental. This is why Numesa's theory states that for the sake of humanity's rapid development, there was some sort of entity which provided external help. As for who this entity was, there is no clue.

"Some say that it was an ancient diety, some say that it was one of the four Celestial stars, and some even say that the legendary wish granting bird, Phoenix. This theory also has an evidence, although many people believe this evidence to not be enough.

"There are records of a very mysterious existence helping out ancient humans, from teaching them about the concept of Principles and rituals to bestowing them powerful Artifacts. These records are part of a saint's diary, whose name is Saint Kambel. He is said to be the first human to discover the existence of Artifacts.

"He also stated in his diary that he, along with every other ancient human worshipped an existence who was described to be like a bird. People say that this bird like creature is none other than the legendary Phoenix. It is said that anybody who befriends the Phoenix will get three of their wishes to be granted.

"To this date, nobody has managed to even see a glimpse of the legendary bird, let alone befriending it.

"The ancient humans slowly evolved with Phoenix's help, when one day one of the ancient human encountered a strange, mysterious blueish portal. The human, whose curiosity won over their rationality, went inside the portal. Going through the portal, the human felt a lottle dizzy. Scenes around him changed rapidly.

"The human came to an unknown location, which was very different from the normal world of humans. The human wandered around a little, until they found a civilization. They rushed towards the civilization, which was situated near a big river. He met beings who were very different from humans. Some of them had blonde hair, some had green hair but one common trait was their pure gold eyes.

"These beings spoke a language which could not be understood by the human. When the human made contact with those beings, he tried various methods to communicate with them, but everytime he failed. After several attempts, another being who looked to be an elder came to the human with a strange object in his hand.

"He chanted some words in his language, which made the object glow faintly. After some time, the human started to understand their language. It seemed that the elder had used an Artifact which ignored language barriers! And that Artifact's level was also very high.

"The human told those beings about how he had entered the portal in his world and arrived here. The beings nodded, and told the human about the portal. The portal which the human took apparently lead to a different world, which was inhabited by these beings known as Elves.

"The elves told the human that aside from them, there were two more worlds where two other races known as Demons and Gods lived. The elves taught the human everyting about their culture, how they did their rituals, how they created Principles et cetra. They also told him about the locations of the portals to other worlds.

"After spending a few days in the elven world, the human returned. He told other humans about his discovery. The chiefs of different villages gathered together to go through the portal. After they went to the elven world, they also came in contact with the elf elder and conversed with him."

After reading till this part, Komaru sighed and closed the book.

This isn't helping me too much. Only a little bit of energy was infused with my Principle. At this rate, it will take me a long time before I can evolve. Maybe getting into combat is the only way to speed up my progress...

Komaru kept the book at its original spot. He got up from his seat and went outside the library. He strolled around the police station, before getting bored.

He went back to the main hall, where Ryota was sitting.

He sat on one of the chairs near the wall.

"Did you finish what you were doing in the Library?" asked Ryota.

Komaru shook his head. "No, I got bored and left reading half way. And now I don't know what I should do."

Ryota smiled. "Why don't you learn a new language? Like Zecanese or Calgish? Or you can try sparring one of the policemen here. Theres a small room towards the right side of the library. You can choose to spar there. Also, make sure to pick someone whos the same grade as you, or else you may get shit on."

Learning a new language is an obvious no. Sparring sounds good...

Komaru shook his head. "Nah its okay. I will just sit here and watch you guys' work to pass the time."

I dont feel like sparrinfg right now. Perhaps I can ask him about the ancient bird god. Nah, I will get implicated if the bird god is related to the mass migration in Niralkim islands.

Upon hearing this, Ryota smiled. "Alright. Do whatever you want."

"I was reading the book 'Beginning of Humanity' by Seanie Dohn. I was very intrigued by the theories, but I got bored as I kept reading." Komaru said, seemingly uninterested.

"Its a good book for starters. By the looks of it, your Principle is related to knowledge? If you want to evolve to higher grades, simply reading won't do. You need to get involved in real life fights." Ryota replied.

Hearing Ryota's words, Komaru's face showed a hint of surprise, before calming down.

Hes very sharp. But he doesn't know too much about my Principle.

So the best way is really to engage in combat...that is very troublesome. I don't have any offensive abilities. Historical Echo is only effective if I want to escape.

"I also thought about fighting. But before that, I need to get an Artifact with good offensive abilities."

"So your Principle is more of the utility type eh? No need to worry too much. You have a high chance of getting into fights when you report crimes. And at that moment, a senior police officer will be there with you. She is very strong. You can rely on her."

So you mean to say that instead of me fighting solo, I will have to get carried by the senior. That works, I guess. Komaru did not feel dejected. Instead, he felt happy.

Komaru disliked doing everything by himself. If someone was there to help him, he would feel much better.

"Thank you for being generous." Komaru thanked him half-heartedly.

After spending around another hour, Ryota told Komaru that he could go home.

Komaru went outside the station and started walking to his home.

On his way, he did not forget to buy clothes for himself.

I have around 140 cinders left. I can buy two pairs of shirts and pant, but that too will cost me atleast 2 to 3 cinders.

Komaru let out a small sigh. He was very stingy when it came to money. The money he had was given to him by his parents, who were not present in Delergen.

My mom did say that she will be back when she finishes her job. Why did my father accompany her? He should've stayed with me and gave me more money.

Komaru waddled around the streets in hopes of finding a clothes shop.

In Matalop, it was very common for small clothes shops to be set up on carriages. This was because the government would not tax anyone who was a street vendor.

It sounds advantageous, but it was also a disadvantage since many people did not lile purchasing clothes from the street vendors, as they considered these clothes to be 'low class.'

Komaru arrived at a shop. It was a single floor building which was painted in light blue. There were a few windows and a large automatic door in the middle.

Komaru entered the shop. He went to the casual clothes section and selected two sets of shirt and pants.

The first set had blue-black coloured shirt and gray pants, which were the common type in Matalop.

The second set had yellow-green coloured shirt with black checkmarks on it and a navy-blue pant. This set was very uncommon in Matalop.

He went to the counter with the two sets to make the payment.

After confirming that it cost a total of 3 cinders, Komaru took out 3 one cinder notes and gave it to the man at thr counter with a heavy heart.

He took the two sets of clothes and went back to his home.
