As they took their positions, glowing script lit up across the floor ancient runes in spiraling patterns, converging on a raised stone tablet at the center of the chamber.
Liris and I stepped closer. On the stone tablet, four lines appeared, glowing faintly in golden mana:
"Born of sky and flame, I soared too high, Now wings of wax in sea do lie. My fall brought tears, a lesson grim Who am I, punished for hubris' whim?"
Liris narrowed her eyes. "A riddle…"
I answered quickly. "Icarus. From ancient Earth myth. Flew too close to the sun."
The moment I said his name aloud, one of the relics the floating cloak glowed brighter and hovered toward us before settling into a slot on the wall. The first guardian stepped back, returning to dormancy.
