Chapter 4 - The Started(3)

Within the academy, he felt safe. Even if everything else in his life seemed to be falling apart, the dome was a reminder that great things had been achieved here before and perhaps, they could be again.

Soon, he reached his dorm room: D23.

He hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, unsure of what to expect. The door slid open with a faint hiss, revealing a cozy, modern one bedroom studio apartment.

The room was simple but functional, with a small kitchen on the left, a neatly made bed on the right, and a desk equipped with a sleek holographic screen at the far end.

A large window offered a breathtaking view of the academy grounds, bathed in soft silver moonlight.

Victor set his wallet down by the bed and let out a long sigh.

"Well, at least the dorms are nice, Not exactly hero material, but I've slept in worse places."

The soft hum of the academy's AI system filled the room as it automatically adjusted the lighting to a warm, relaxing glow.

Victor dropped onto the bed, feeling the weight of the day press down on him.

Despite the comfort of his surroundings, a feeling of unease lingered in his chest.

Lying on his back, he stared at the dimly lit ceiling, feeling utterly defeated. The excitement of being transported into the world of The Light's First Being had quickly dissolved into cold, hard reality.

I tapped on my watch and searched for my skill info by simply typing the name.

Interface

Blessing Ranking: C

Function: Displays knowledge that you already know when looking at an object, animal, or human, creating a screen in front of you.

Activation: Simply think about information while looking at an object.

His "Interface" was the epitome of mediocrity. It wasn't a flashy ability like summoning firestorms or bending space—it just displayed information he already knew.

"A C-ranked blessing, huh? Probably because it's more of a utility than actual combat potential. What am I supposed to do with this? Read my enemies to death?" He let out a groan, burying his face in the pillow.

"Ugh, why can't I stop getting unlucky?"

The AI on his watch beeped. "Reminder: Curfew is at 23:00. You need to rest to ensure sufficient energy."

He rolled onto his side, muttering to himself. "Sufficient rest? For what? Failing harder tomorrow?"

But his mind refused to quiet down. The Child of Chaos—the most terrifying antagonist of the novel—was out there somewhere, waiting to destroy this world and take him along with it.

He was so overpowered that, if compared to a game, he'd be the unkillable end game boss designed by the developers just to troll the players.

I Only beat it Cus I spend Stupid amount of

And here I was, with the power of... what? A glorified search engine? He could practically hear the Child of Chaos laughing at him if they fought right now.

Yet, something tugged at the edges of his frustration, The back of his mind screamed at him to live.

He hadn't chosen to be here, and the story hadn't prepared him for this future, but he was alive.

Alive, with a skill albeit unimpressive, Still, he had a chance to navigate this strange new world.

Despair wouldn't help him, It would only drag him further down. He promised himself that, even if he didn't know how yet, he would survive.

He would try until his very last breath.

"I'm just gonna sleep now," he mumbled, closing his eyes, willing himself to rest.

His last thought before sleep claimed him was simple but resolute:

"I might not be the chosen one, but there's got to be a way to survive this, I refuse to be cannon fodder in someone else's story."

---------------

Tomorrow, he would start exploring and figuring out his place in this daunting world one step at a time by checking the place where a character in the novel had died to see if their overpowered weapon was still there.

Knock! Knock!

"Who the hell is disturbing my sleep? It's only seven in the morning."

"Who is it?"

He opened the door to see a small cart robot holding a set of clothes, a pouch, and a student ID card.

Beep!

"Student Victor, here are your uniform and basic supplies, including your school allowance."

The uniform was white with golden linings across some of it and a golden lily emblem on the pocket.

Victor opened the pouch to find two 100-rail notes about 200 dollars in the old world.

It wasn't much, but it was free money, so he wasn't going to complain.

"Alright, first objective: Exolot Mountain Range. If the Peaches of Immortality are still really there, then I might have a way to change my fate."

In the novel, Solomon, the eventual Mage King, had stumbled upon them while escaping from a Demon Baron at the beginning of the story.

He had jumped into a giant hole, survived unscathed, and awakened his hidden potential.

Victor smirked. "If Solomon could do it, so can I."

He boarded the Mana Train, paying 2 rails for the ride from Solhaven, the city he was currently in, to Idok, the town closest to the Exolot Mountain Range.

Before climbing, he purchased some basic climbing equipment—harnesses and climbing nuts. He had never climbed before, but he had watched enough tutorial videos to understand the basics.

In The Game Lore Solomon came from The city of Eryndor which is north of The Exlot mountain range, considering That I need to hike That way.

I began my Hike slowly up the recommended Trail Then Went Off trail and Went to The north until reached The trail Of the north.

Then ran straight The same as how The book describes it, and climbed up some of The walls of rock with my equipment since Solomon was a 2-star mage already at the time, so he could just jump over These walls of rock with mana But I don't have any of That.

I went in The same direction for 3 hours straight until I saw a giant hole.

"Haa!! haa!!"

Victor's legs trembled as he stood at the edge of the gaping chasm, his breath coming in shallow gasps. The exhaustion from hours of climbing and running uphill weighed heavily on his body, every muscle screaming in protest.

He couldn't fathom how "Soloman"had managed to sprint all the way here in just five minutes with a demon hot on his heels.

The thought alone made Victor's head spin of How strong He truly Was But now wasn't the time to dwell on it.

He had a decision to make, and it was one that could mean the difference between life and death.

The hole before him was a yawning abyss, its depths shrouded in impenetrable darkness.

It seemed to stretch endlessly, a void that swallowed all light and sound. Victor swallowed hard, his throat dry, and tightened his grip on the straps of his bag.

His knuckles turned white as he stared into the blackness, his mind racing with doubt and fear.

"What if this is the wrong hole?" The thought gnawed at him, a relentless whisper in the back of his mind.

If he was wrong, if this wasn't the place Solomon had described, then this leap would be his last.

There would be no second chances, no miraculous survival.

Just a cold, unceremonious end at the bottom of some forgotten pit.

But Victor knew he didn't have a choice, In this world, where strength and talent determined your worth, he was at a severe disadvantage.

His talent grade was pitifully low, and his blessings were unconventional, to say the least.

If he wanted even the slimmest chance to survive, to carve out a place for himself in this brutal, unforgiving world, he had to take risks.

Big ones, And this was the biggest risk of all.

To test the depth, Victor crouched down, picked up a small rock, and dropped it into the hole.

He held his breath, straining to hear the faintest sound of it hitting the bottom.

But after what felt like an eternity ten minutes, maybe more there was nothing.

No echo, no distant "clink" of stone meeting stone. Just silence. The kind of silence that made his skin crawl.

So he Couldn't even consider Using His climbing Equipment as He Wouldn't have enough stuff to Go That Far.

His heart pounded in his chest, each beat echoing in his ears like a drum.

The fear was paralyzing, but so was the realization that he had no other options, This was it, This was his Only chance of survival.

"Well, here goes nothing," Victor muttered under his breath, his voice trembling. "Hopefully, I don't die."

With a deep, shuddering breath, he Jump off the edge.

The rush of air was immediate, a deafening roar that drowned out all other sounds.

The walls of the chasm blurred into streaks of gray and black as he plummeted, the jagged rocks lining the sides threatening to tear him apart if he so much as brushed against them.

He tucked his limbs tightly against his body, trying to minimize the risk, but the sheer speed of his descent made it nearly impossible to control.

His stomach twisted into knots, the sensation of freefalling making him question every decision that had led him to this point making feelt like puking.

"What am I doing?" he thought, panic clawing at the edges of his mind.

"This is insane. I'm going to die. I'm actually going to die."

Seconds stretched into what felt like minutes, yet the bottom never came. The darkness seemed endless, an infinite void that swallowed him whole.

His mind raced, thoughts tumbling over one another in a chaotic jumble.

"How deep is this thing? Solomon said he landed unharmed, right? Right?! Please, please let this be the right hole. Please don't let me die like this."

And then, just as the panic threatened to overwhelm him, something changed.

The air grew thick, almost viscous, like swimming through water.

His descent slowed, the terrifying speed giving way to a gentle, almost peaceful drift.

A faint green glow enveloped him, soft and warm, like the embrace of a long-lost friend. It cradled him, easing the tension in his body and quieting the storm in his mind.

Victor's breath hitched as he looked around, his eyes wide with wonder. The glow seemed to emanate from the walls of the chasm, casting an ethereal light that illuminated the space around him.

He could see now that the walls were smooth, almost polished, with intricate carvings etched into the stone. Symbols and runes, ancient and mysterious, glowed faintly in the green light.

For the first time since he'd jumped, Victor felt a flicker of hope, Maybe just maybe this was the right hole after all.
