Chapter 71 - Archbishop Meeting

Regulus was in his house in that of Priestella, as he took a deep breath from fighting Reinhard. Even though the sword saint couldn't hurt him, he still managed to cut him, which was something else.

Then the door broke open, and he heard an angry voice. "Regulus Corneas".

Regulus turned his head to see the voice. "First time in a while someone called me by my full name?".

He looked at the person, a fellow Archbishop. He had long, dishevelled, red-tipped, dark brown hair tied into a braid behind his head, along with emerald green eyes that were yellow in the centre and had a poisonous glimmer to them. He also has a young look and a mischievous smile and wears a ripped, green cloth reminiscent of a man's cheongsam around his body.

[Insert Image of Roi]

Roi walked up to him as he spoke. "Why is my brother dead".

Regulus stopped as he took a few seconds to process that. "Lye is dead? But how was he going after the trb group that killed the white whale? Did the Sword Saint Go After Him?".

Roi looked as he spoke. "Unless he can change his hair colour to black, then no".

Regulus remember the Memory Link Roi with his brother. "Black Hair?".

"Oh, what is happening here?".

They looked up to see a Bat; it landed down and took the form of a Capella. "So, what did I miss, while I was on my Mission"

Regulus narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms as he leaned back slightly. "A black-haired guy killed Lye? Hah, what a joke. Who even can do that?!"

Roi's expression darkened. "That's what I want to know. My brother was many things, but weak wasn't one of them. If someone killed him, it means we have an enemy we weren't prepared for."

Capella tilted her head, licking her lips as she chuckled. "Well, ain't this interesting? First, our little gluttonous freak gets eaten, and now you're telling me some black-haired bastard is running around who can take down an Archbishop?" She stretched her arms before shifting into a more human form. "I was hoping for some entertainment, but this is way better."

Regulus sighed in irritation. "Hmph. Does it even matter? If some fool killed Lye, then we just kill them back. Simple. It's not like we cared about each other in the first place."

Roi's eyes flashed dangerously, his usually mischievous expression tightening. "You might not have, but he was my brother."

A tense silence filled the room before Capella broke it with a lazy yawn. "So, what's the plan, boys? Are we just gonna sit here crying over the dead, or do we go find this mystery killer and rip them apart?"

Roi glanced at Capella, then back at Regulus. "I need to know everything Lye was doing before he died. He was hunting down the ones who killed the White Whale, right? That means someone among them is responsible."

Regulus scoffed. "Fine. But don't expect me to waste my time running around searching for some nobody."

Capella grinned, fangs glinting. "Oh, I dunno, Reggie. I think this could be fun."

Capella looker as she spoke. "What did this black hair guy look like?".

Roi looked at her as he spoke. "Black Hair, Black Eyes, he has fair skin, looks like he is from Kararagi".

Regulus stopped as he narrowed his eyes, as he spoke, as it matched the description of Subaru (Ps: Regulus don't know his name), as he thought. "Was it him".

Capella took a few seconds, as she went to hee memory. "Hahaha, no way, it him".

Regulus looked at him. "What do they mean?".

Capella spoke looking at him. "Remember that group the Witch's Hand, that kept killing our memories".

Regulus looked at her as he spoke. "Yes, I killed a few members of that group when they were part of their group".

Capella looked as she spoke. "It is their, damm leader; it is a one-to-one".

Regulus stopped as he spoke. "And you o

Know".

She looked as she spoke. "He and his group found my weakness and almost killed me and now I learn he killed the White Whale"

Regulus clenched his fists, his expression darkening. "So, you're telling me that the leader of those pests, the Witch's Hand, is the one who killed Lye?"

Roi folded his arms, his eyes gleaming with a dangerous light. "It all fits, doesn't it? If they could kill the White Whale and survive fighting Archbishop-level threats, they're not just some small resistance group."

Capella let out a dry laugh, her eyes flickering with amusement and annoyance. "Not just survive, dear Regulus. Thrive. That bastard and his little band of misfits nearly tore me apart once. If I hadn't figured out a way to escape, we wouldn't be having this lovely chat right now."

Regulus scowled. "And yet, you let them live?"

Capella's grin widened, sharp teeth flashing. "Oh, please. I didn't let them live—I had priorities. I was busy. Unlike you, I have actual work to do."

Roi sighed, rubbing his temple. "Enough. What matters now is that Lye is dead, and we have an enemy that is capable of taking down an Archbishop." He glanced at Capella. "You already fought him and lost. What do you know about his abilities?"

Capella rolled her eyes but answered, "Other than being frustratingly hard to kill? He's got something. Some kind of unnatural protection, like he's cheating death itself. Not to mention, he always seems to know exactly where to strike. It's like he sees weaknesses nobody else does."

Regulus sneered. "Tch. Sounds like a cheap trick."

Roi shook his head. "It doesn't matter. Tricks or not, he killed Lye. If we don't do something, he'll come for us next."

Capella grinned. "Then let him come. I'd love another shot at him."

Regulus exhaled through his nose, his grip tightening. "Fine. Then we find him first and kill him before he becomes a bigger problem."

Roi smirked. "Oh, I think it's already too late for that."

As the three Archbishops schemed, the shadow of their new enemy loomed closer, waiting for the right moment to strike.

A few days later.

Regulus tapped a mirror as it showed Peteleguse in his new body. "Peteleguse, are you still attacking the Emilia camp"

Petelgeuse laughed as he spoke. "Yes, why do you ask".

Regulus spoke to him. "I had a little information, a Cirten someone we want death, so we are sending Roi to you; he wants revenge".

Peteleguse blinker as he spoke. "Oh, did I miss a few important things".

Capella scoffed from the side, her arms crossed as she leaned against the wall. "More than a few, Petelgeuse. The Witch's Hand is back, and their leader took down Lye. Now Roi wants a piece of him."

Petelgeuse frowned, his usual manic expression momentarily faltering. "The Witch's Hand… I thought they were merely a nuisance. But to kill Lye Batenkaitos?" His grin widened unnaturally. "How splendid! How truly, truly maddening! A worthy adversary for our grand purpose!"

Regulus rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed with Petelgeuse's theatrics. "Yes, yes, madness and all that. The point is, Roi is going to reinforce your attack on the Emilia camp. We need to confirm if this black-haired bastard is really leading them. If he is, we kill him."

Petelgeuse twitched, his fingers curling erratically. "A test of devotion, then? How beautiful! To exterminate those who stand against our Witch! Ah, what a joy!"

Roi, who had been silent until now, smirked. "I don't care about your devotion, Peteleguse. I just want to put my brother's killer in the ground."

Regulus huffed. "Then don't waste time. Take your forces and wipe them out. If the Witch's Hand is truly involved, this could be our chance to crush them once and for all."

Petelgeuse cackled. "Then let love guide our hands to destruction! I shall welcome our dear guest with the utmost affection!"

With that, the mirror flickered off, leaving the three Archbishops to their own thoughts.

Capella chuckled darkly. "This is going to be fun."

Roi cracked his knuckles. "For me, at least."

Regulus merely smirked. "Let's see if this so-called leader can handle all of us coming for him."

Peteleguse then spoke. "This is perfect for me, they almost killed me also, there top member, if didn't switch Body, that mage and swords man killer 7 times".

Regulus eyes wident as he spoke. "The hell, what is happenin".

Capella's grin widened, a glint of sadistic amusement in her eyes. "Oh-ho, so they're not just pests anymore, huh? They actually managed to push you that far?"

Petelgeuse twitched violently, his grin stretching unnaturally as his body jerked with his signature spasms. "Indeed! Indeed! Their top members—Oh, how wretched, how loathsome, how marvelous! That mage, with his accursed fire, and the swordsman, relentless, unyielding, striking me down over and over again! If not for my ability to transfer to a new vessel, I would have perished! How exhilarating!"

Regulus clenched his fists, irritation clear on his face. "First Lye, now you? What's going on? Since when did they get so strong? And just who are these two?"

Roi narrowed his poisonous green eyes, recalling the fight through the remnants of his connection with his brother. "The mage… wields fire unlike anything I've seen before. Not just mana—something more. And the swordsman… he fights like a monster, every cut as if he sees through your very existence. Lye didn't stand a chance."

Regulus scowled. "That's absurd. You're telling me there are two people out there capable of killing Sin Archbishops this easily? That they're just running around unchecked?"

Capella laughed, a dark, guttural chuckle. "And what if they are? That just means we need to be smarter. Stronger. We're not losing to a bunch of nobodies."

Regulus gritted his teeth, tapping the armrest of his chair impatiently. "First Lye, then Petelgeuse barely surviving… and now, these two unknowns. Something is happening. Something big. And I don't like it."

Petelgeuse's smile twitched wider, his fingers writhing in the air. "Hehehe… ahahaha! PERFECT! It is the ultimate test! The proof of our devotion! THE LOVE OF OUR WITCH SHALL CARRY US THROUGH!"

Roi smirked, his expression dark. "If nothing else… it means I get to kill them myself."

Regulus exhaled sharply before slamming his fist on the table. "Fine. We'll go through with it. Roi, you assist Petelgeuse. Capella, stay alert. If we lose another Archbishop, this isn't just about our pride anymore—it's about survival."

The room fell silent for a moment, only Petelgeuse's erratic giggles echoing.

Capella leaned back, her grin never fading. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun."

Capella's grin widened, a glint of sadistic amusement in her eyes. "Oh-ho, so they're not just pests anymore, huh? They actually managed to push you that far?"

Capella leaned back, her grin never fading. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun."

Regulus then groaned as he thought. "It can't be; no way he is an Authority user as well".

Capella looker as she spoke. "Why are you so Sacre".

Regulus then spoke. "There is one Authority that we never found, Vainglory".

Capella's grin faltered for the first time as she processed Regulus' words. "Vainglory? That Authority?"

Roi's expression darkened, his amusement replaced by cold calculation. "You're saying that this guy—the one who killed Lye, the one who nearly took down Capella and forced Petelgeuse to burn through seven bodies—has the Authority of Vainglory?"

Regulus ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "I don't know. But if he does… then we're dealing with something worse than just a strong enemy."

Petelgeuse twitched violently. "Ahaha… ahahaha! How WONDERFUL! If he wields the Authority of Vainglory, then surely, surely, he must be a most MAGNIFICENT BELIEVER IN LOVE! Or… or…" His voice dropped, his face contorting into something almost fearful. "Or… a most WRETCHED HERETIC."

Capella crossed her arms, her usual arrogance returning. "Tch. Big deal. So what if he has an Authority? He's still one guy. He bleeds, he burns, he dies. We just have to find out how."

Regulus didn't share her confidence. "You don't get it. The Authority of Vainglory was lost for a reason. It's different from ours. If this guy really has it…" His fists clenched. "He might not be playing by the same rules."

Roi exhaled slowly, a deadly smirk forming on his lips. "Then we test him. We see if he truly wields Vainglory… and if he does, we take him down before he realizes what he's truly capable of."

Petelgeuse cackled, his body spasming with excitement. "YES! A DIVINE ORDEAL! Oh, how fortuitous! I shall dedicate myself fully to this most SACRED TASK!"

Capella rolled her eyes. "You're all acting like he's some kind of demon. He's just another pest. I'll squash him myself if I have to."

Regulus didn't respond immediately. He simply looked down at his hand—the same hand that, for the first time in a long while, had felt pain. He had thought nothing could ever harm him.

But now… he wasn't so sure.
