Chapter 20 - chapter 20: A Glimpse into the Past

The Night Before Departing to the Rosette Kingdom

Ryutaro and Grace stood on the balcony, gazing at the night sky together, while Aurelia and Charlotte kept Alice company in the living room.

"I never expected my life to change like this," Ryutaro muttered.

"What do you mean? Is it because you accepted their proposal this afternoon?" Grace asked.

"Of course. I never imagined having more than one wife. In fact, I wasn't even sure I'd ever have a wife at all," Ryutaro replied.

Grace was surprised to hear this. Given his personality, she found it hard to believe he had trouble attracting women.

"How could you think that? You're kind and strong—why would you struggle to find a partner?" Grace asked.

Ryutaro sighed before answering.

"Back in my old world, I was weak—nothing like I am now. I was bullied at school, and even the girls looked down on me," he admitted.

Grace was shocked to learn that her husband had once been a victim of bullying before being summoned to this world.

"You were bullied? How?" Grace asked, curiosity in her voice.

"They made me buy drinks with my own money, sometimes leaving me without lunch. I was forced to do all their homework and even clean up alone during class duties. No one ever helped me," Ryutaro explained.

"But did you ever try to fight back?" Grace asked.

"Once. I had enough of their orders and decided to resist. But they beat me up badly," Ryutaro admitted.

"Did none of your classmates care about you?" Grace asked.

"There was one… the smartest girl in our class. She was the only one who ever stood up for me," Ryutaro said, his eyes filled with nostalgia.

Hearing about Ryutaro's painful past, Grace decided to comfort him.

"What matters is that you're not with them anymore, right? And now, you're strong enough to stand on your own," Grace said reassuringly.

Ryutaro felt a bit more at ease after hearing her words.

"Yeah, thank you, Grace, for cheering me up," he said.

"Of course. But remember, you're not alone anymore. You have three wives now," Grace reminded him.

"You're right. I'll do my best to make all of you happy so that you never regret choosing me," Ryutaro declared.

"That's the spirit!" Grace said with a smile.

They both laughed, enjoying the peaceful night together.

"Alright, I'm heading inside now," Grace said.

"Okay. I'll stay out here a little longer," Ryutaro replied.

Grace went inside, leaving Ryutaro alone on the balcony. As he stood there, he found himself thinking about Miyuki, the girl who had cared for him in the past.

"I wonder how you're doing, Miyuki. I hope you're okay even though I'm no longer there," Ryutaro thought to himself.

Meanwhile, in the Living Room

Charlotte and Aurelia were asking Alice about tourist attractions in the Rosette Kingdom.

"Alice, since you're a princess, are there any good places for couples to visit?" Aurelia asked.

"Yeah, I'd like to know too!" Charlotte added.

Alice smiled slightly at their enthusiasm.

"Of course, we have many romantic destinations," Alice said.

"Where are they?" Aurelia asked eagerly.

"Here are my top recommendations:

1. Aurora Flower Garden – A garden filled with flowers that only bloom under the moonlight, creating a perfect romantic atmosphere. The glowing petals cast a magical light along stone pathways lined with crystal lanterns.

2. Lake of Eternal Love – Legend says that couples who sail on a glass boat here will have everlasting love. The clear waters reflect the stars at night, creating a serene and heartwarming ambiance.

3. Golden Rose Tower – A tall tower with a rare golden rose at its peak. Couples can enjoy a breathtaking view of the kingdom while having a romantic dinner prepared by the palace's best chefs.

4. Cave of the Heart's Light – A natural cave illuminated by glowing crystals, casting dancing colors on the walls. Couples can carve their names into the 'Promise Stone' as a symbol of their unbreakable bond.

5. Moonlit Island – A small island in the middle of the sea, accessible only by a special boat. Known for its soft white sands and stunning moonlit views, it's the perfect spot for a romantic night under the stars.

6. Melody Falls – A waterfall that produces a sound resembling gentle music, creating a peaceful and loving atmosphere. It's said that its waters carry an energy that strengthens relationships.

7. Bridge of Wishes – A crystal-clear bridge suspended over a sparkling blue river. In the center of the bridge, there's a small altar where couples can tie ribbons as a symbol of their vows," Alice explained.

Aurelia and Charlotte were thrilled after hearing Alice's descriptions.

"Wow, I didn't expect there to be so many beautiful places!" Aurelia exclaimed.

"Right?" Charlotte agreed.

"Of course! Rosette is known as the city of romance, so naturally, we have many places centered around love and relationships," Alice said proudly.

As they excitedly discussed the attractions, Grace entered the room.

"You can enjoy a vacation, but remember, our main goal is to heal the king," Grace reminded them.

"You're right. We should focus on that first, then we can explore afterward," Aurelia admitted.

Grace sighed at Aurelia's carefree attitude.

"By the way, where's Ryutaro?" Charlotte asked.

"He's on the balcony alone," Grace replied.

"Why is he alone? Weren't you with him earlier?" Charlotte asked.

"He said he needed some time to himself," Grace explained.

"Is something bothering him?" Aurelia asked, concerned.

Grace then shared what Ryutaro had told her about his past.

"Oh, so he wasn't always as strong as he is now," Charlotte realized.

"Exactly. That's why, as his wives, we have to support him no matter what," Grace said firmly.

"Agreed. That's our duty. Right, Charlotte?" Aurelia said.

"Absolutely," Charlotte nodded.

They all made a silent vow to stand by Ryutaro's side, no matter what challenges lay ahead.

The Next Day

The group prepared for their journey to the Rosette Kingdom.

"Is everyone ready?" Ryutaro asked.

"Ready!" the three women replied in unison.

"Alright, I'll activate the teleportation spell," Alice said.

Hearing this, Ryutaro was surprised.

"Wait, you can use teleportation magic? Then why did you need to travel all the way here?" Ryutaro asked.

"Teleportation magic can only be used to places the caster has visited before," Alice explained.

"But Grace's teleportation worked even though she had never been to the city of Idenpencia before," Ryutaro pointed out.

Grace interjected with a smirk.

"Did you forget who I am? I'm the Demon Queen—my magic is on another level," Grace said confidently.

"Oh, I see. That makes sense," Ryutaro nodded.

"Alright, let's go!" Alice announced.

With a wave of her hand, the teleportation spell activated, and in an instant, they arrived in front of the Rosette Kingdom's grand entrance.

"Welcome to the Rosette Kingdom, everyone," Alice said.

"Wow… so this is Rosette," Ryutaro marveled.

"Yes, this is the kingdom of Rosette," Alice confirmed.

Just as they were about to enter, someone suddenly called out to Ryutaro.

"Wait… isn't that loser Ryutaro? How the hell is he here?" a voice sneered.

Ryutaro turned toward the source of the voice, his eyes widening in shock.

"You… why are you here?!" Ryutaro exclaimed.

Who had Ryutaro encountered? How did they know his name? And what connection did they have to his past?
