Chapter 93 - Urgent Business

I excused myself from Adéle, my voice sounding urgent. 

 "I need to go," I said as I stepped away from her. 

I know this was becoming quite common, but I couldn't help it.

She frowned and immediately followed me, her tone gentle yet filled with worry. 

 "What's wrong?" she asked loudly, through the music. But I could not find the words to explain so I kept my eyes fixed ahead, moving through the crowd as if the people around me were just shadows in a dim light.

We pushed through the crowd, leaving behind the thumping music and fading chatter of the club. 

The noise slowly died down as we made our way toward the exit. 

Outside, the cool night air hit me like a slap.

The chill of the wind was a stark contrast to the warm, packed space we had just left. I quickened my pace, and I could see Adéle struggling to keep up with me.

The parking lot was dimly lit by a few street lamps.
