Zara's gaze flickered between Zavier and Nathaniel, searching their eyes for answers.
One second passed.
Ten.
Twenty.
She let out a shaky sigh. "Say something, please," she begged, voice cracking.
She turned to Zavier, gripping his hand tightly. "You know this project well. I can't abandon it," she cried, her voice trembling.
Before Zavier could respond, Nathaniel spoke up, his tone calm but firm. "It would have been more convenient for me too. But the only way we could have the case here is if the kids had spent at least six months in New York."
Zara huffed in frustration, rubbing her forehead. The kids had barely spent three months in New York. That definitely wasn't a solution.
"I'll see what I can do about it," Zavier reassured, giving her arm a gentle squeeze.
He wasn't sure how he would manage it, but his quiet promise steadied her just a little.
Nathaniel explained the rest of the terms and outlined his strategy before they eventually called it a night.
