Zara's fingers tightened around the purse strap.
She wanted to yell. Throw something.
Make him feel even an ounce of the pain tearing through her chest.
But she swallowed it back.
She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her hurt.
Not now. Not ever.
Her hand trembled as she reached for the door, and the force of her push sent it slamming shut with a sharp bang.
The sound rattled through the office, making Gina flinch. But Zara didn't stop.
She spun on her heels and strode out, her breaths shallow and uneven.
She bumped into his secretary who had run after her, but she ignored her once again, slipping into the elevator.
Ace was up in an instant. His chair scraped against the floor as he stormed after her, brushing past Gina without so much as a glance.
"Sir, I tried to stop—" the secretary's voice trailed off as Ace also ignored her, running past her.
Zara's gaze locked with his for a fleeting second before the elevator doors slid shut.
