"I'm not lying ..." Edmund explained. "When I was a kid, a butterfly flew into my ear. I thought it was going to eat my brain and make me dumb forever."
[But it turns out I'm just naturally dumb.]
Primrose almost choked on her own saliva after hearing that.
Who in their right mind would admit they were dumb?
That's right, only the foolish Lycan King would say something like that without a second thought.
"That's … actually kind of scary," Primrose said with an awkward laugh.
Edmund sat down beside her but didn't say anything right away. He just looked at her quietly, while Primrose kept her eyes on the floor, pretending to study their feet.
"But," Edmund said all of a sudden, "there's something else I'm scared of."
Primrose glanced up, a bit curious. "What is it?"
"Seeing you cry," Edmund muttered. "That's scary."
Primrose froze.
What kind of answer was that? Was he trying to be sweet on purpose?
