"Are you saying that the Wild Folk tribe often has conflicts with the Wild Boar Men?"
Leo listened to Fisa's introduction and pinpointed the most interesting part.
"The Wild Boar Men are very powerful. The Wild Folk are extremely powerful. Their longbows are invincible."
Fisa's eyes showed admiration. She even forgot to chew on the wheat cake and waved her claws excitedly as she described.
Leo thought to himself, "Most likely, when you wanted to surrender and leave earlier, you were planning to go to the Wild Folk and ask them to get revenge for you..."
But on the surface, he wore a friendly smile. He asked amiably, "Then can you introduce me to the chief of the Wild Folk tribe? We can talk about working together to deal with the Wild Boar Men."
How can one quickly make friends?
Of course, it's to find a common enemy!
In the wilderness, a straight-line distance of thirty li is neither too far nor too near. If you can't find a suitable route, the actual distance could triple.
But as long as you stay long enough, the Wild Boar Men will come to your door sooner or later. The conflict between the two sides is inevitable.
The Wild Boar Men are not as easily deceived as the kobolds.
In other words, the Wild Boar Men lack the intelligence to be deceived. While you're trying to figure out how to communicate, all they want is to eat you.
They simply can't understand the Common Tongue.
Fisa the kobold was clearly in a tough spot. The relationship between them and the Wild Folk was actually not as close as Leo had thought.
The attitude of the Wild Folk towards this kobold tribe was similar to that of rural folks towards a few dogs at the village entrance. They weren't close, but there wasn't much animosity either.
They only traded iron ores once every one or two months. If they were in a good mood, they might even do a small favor and look after them a bit.
Ultimately, it was a disparity in strength. The Wild Folk simply didn't take the kobolds seriously and just let them survive, using them as a sentinel or cover incidentally.
Now that he thought about it, when Leo launched an attack against the kobold tribe, didn't the Wild Folk get any news at all?
Maybe they were watching secretly, waiting to see how things unfolded.
Olivia, who had been busy all along, walked over. Seeing Little Mouse with crumbs all over her face while munching on the wheat cake, she casually picked up a towel and slapped it on Little Mouse's face, rubbing until it was clean.
Seeing this, Freya quickly lay down, stretched out her neck, and nestled her huge head into Olivia's arms, squinting her eyes and waiting to be attended to.
This big marmot had been easily domesticated by just two meals from Olivia. She was closer to Olivia than to her own mother.
Leo would bet that if he and Olivia fell into the water simultaneously, Freya would definitely save Olivia first!
Olivia wasn't as friendly as Freya. She was still a bit scared of this huge magical beast.
But seeing Freya looking docile and harmless, she had no choice but to summon up the courage and carefully wipe the wheat crumbs off the marmot's head.
Taking another step forward, Olivia and Fisa the kobold locked eyes.
Looking at the face of the Husky Kobold, which was also covered in food residues, Olivia hesitated for a second. Eventually, she couldn't resist and slapped the towel on Fisa's head, wiping it clean.
Fisa stood there stunned. This sudden maternal love left her bewildered.
Leo also stared blankly at Olivia's seamless series of actions. He almost suspected that his grandma had traveled through time and entered Olivia's body.
Freya, who had finished eating the wheat cake, was in a great mood. She leaned back and sat in front of the bonfire, comfortably stroking her belly, and said to Leo, "Do you want to go to the village under the big waterfall? I can take you there!"
"You?" Leo was stunned. "Have you actually stayed there?"
Then he spotted something interesting: "Did they kick you out because you ate too much?"
"Humph! I did eat a lot, but I wasn't kicked out!" Freya got angry and kicked her short legs in the air feebly. "I ran away by myself."
"Why?"
"Because! Because..." Freya said unhappily, "because they were too nice to me."
Leo was speechless: "You ran away because they were too nice to you? What kind of logic is that? So I should beat you up every now and then?"
"Oh, you'll know when you go." Freya didn't want to explain anymore. With great difficulty, she flipped her body over and turned her plump butt towards Leo, refusing to talk any further.
The bonfire where Leo was sitting was usually not approached by other villagers because the scene was too fantastical. Most of the villagers were gathered around other bonfires, eating and watching from afar.
When Olivia walked over, several of her female companions of the same age immediately gathered around her and whispered to her.
"That marmot is so big! It talks so cutely. It seems to be less than ten years old..."
"Little Mouse is the prettiest, but she just doesn't like to talk..."
"Yeah, she looks sluggish, as if she's not very smart..."
"I think that kobold is the smartest. She even greeted me last time."
As they were chatting, someone noticed something remarkable. "Don't you think Leo has made friends with too many different kinds of people?"
A humanoid little mouse as sluggish as a marmot, a giant marmot as frisky as a husky, and a mature and steady husky!
And they were all female!
"Olivia, you have to be careful. Keep an eye on your Leo!"
Olivia looked back at the bonfire scene that mismatched with the style of the entire villagers' camp and said with a laugh, "What are you worried about? Are you worried that Leo will start a circus?"
Agatha, the young widow who had experienced such things, had the most say. She grabbed Olivia's hand and said with deep concern, "When a man has been single for a long time, he'll find even a donkey good-looking. Leo and Little Mouse sleep together all day long. You may not think much of it now, but what if Little Mouse grows up in a couple of years?"
Olivia shook her head and said, "That stubborn Leo, what kind of thoughts could he have?"
"That was before! Now Leo has finally come to his senses. Look at him. Is he still the same stupid and muddleheaded bastard he used to be?"
Agatha looked at Leo with a resentful expression.
In the past, Leo had climbed into her bed in the middle of the night just to steal her pig!
What a pity to waste all that muscle!
Olivia looked at Leo and remained silent.
Leo, who was completely devoted to his conquest (hunting in the wild), had no time for love.
He held a short meeting with Ulyan and several leaders of the settlement camp, finalizing some details for the negotiation with the Wild folk. The next day, he set off towards the big waterfall again, taking Freya, Fisa, and gifts with him.
Originally, Fisa didn't want to go, but she simply couldn't resist Leo's rhetorical coercion and had no choice but to come along reluctantly.
Things like being united in hatred, forming a united front, expelling the barbarians, and moving towards civilization.
With just a few words, Leo had saddled Fisa with a historical burden that her people should not have to bear.
Leo had his own good reasons for bringing Fisa along.
The Wild folk were not easy to talk to. Maybe if they got unhappy, they'd shoot a stealth arrow and send Leo, who had intruded into their territory, to his death.
With his life on the line, Leo naturally hoped to have as many Wild folk he knew around him as possible.
Even if it was going to be a fight, if the other side saw that most of the people on your side were their acquaintances right off the bat, the fight probably wouldn't happen.
