I turned my head to see Batman standing behind me, his muscular figure imposing even in the dim light. He was in his full Batman getup, wearing a bulletproof suit adorned with the iconic bat symbol. His mask revealed the lower half of his face, with small horns protruding from the top.
I looked at him and said, "Oh, Batman in the flesh," with a hint of mockery in my tone. He didn't show any sign of taking offense—or if he did, he was exceptionally good at hiding it.
"who are you?" Batman asked, his voice calm but firm.
"Me? I'm—" I froze. It was a good question. Who was I to him? How should I present myself to Batman? This was my first encounter with a hero, after all. Oh, that's right, I thought. I brought my left hand to my chest and gave a small bow. "You can call me Mr. Mysteries , Batman," I said as I straightened my back.
"What are you doing here, and what are your motives?" Batman asked, his hand slowly moving to his utility belt at his hip. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Orphan aka Cassandra Cain subtly shifting out of my line of sight, trying to position herself in my blind spot.
"Nothing much, just clearing the trash," I said while placing the bag on the ground as if a fight broke out i need my hands to clap and get away from here . As I saw Batman was about to ask more, I raised my hand to motion him to stop.
I quickly brought both my hands together and clapped.
I disappeared from there nah I wasn't going to stick around any longer. I didn't expect to run into Batman of all people, and I was in a fight I was definitely going to lose. I wasn't confident that Itadori's fighting skills and Nanami's cursed technique would be enough against Batman. Bro has that Tabet monk training in him.
Wait—a sudden realization hit like a light bulb switching on in my brain. Should I go to Tabet?
Nah, that's just hard work. I just need to get money first, then get Infinite and Domain Expansion. I'll be fine
Alex thought as he made his way through the forest, but something was bugging him—like he had forgotten something important. Then he stopped, his eyes widening in shock as the realization hit him. He fell to his knees.
"Nooo!" he screamed out in frustration into the dark sky as it hit him—he had made a mistake. He had left the bag of money there. All the hard work he had done was just wasted.
As Alex screamed out his frustration, far away in Gotham, Batman looked at the screen in front of him, replaying the video countless times, trying to figure out what had happened there—or more importantly, who the man (or the boy) who had called himself Mr. Mysterious was. Was he a hero… or something else? He had to know.
As Batman worked at his screen, a man walked toward him and stopped. He wore a butler's suit and carried a tray with him. He set the tray of food down gently.
"Master Bruce, you haven't eaten since you came back from patrol," Alfred said, concern in his voice.
"No, not now, Alfred. I have to find out who this boy is," Batman replied, eyes still glued to the screen.
"Boy? Are you sure that he's not a man?" Alfred asked, a hint of skepticism in his tone.
"Yes. I'm 80% sure," Batman answered. "There are various indicators that suggest he's a boy rather than a man."
"Well then, you should try to find out how he's made," Alfred asked with concern.
"I'm trying, Alfred," Batman replied. "From the manner of his speech, his height, gender, and his powers—I've narrowed his location down to a few cities."
He continued, eyes still fixed on the screen, "I'll be prepared for him next time."
