Kael was ready to take his leave.
He climbed onto his mount, Liz by his side, both of them preparing to head toward the ship.
But then, the clouds above began to swirl—slowly at first, then violently.
Within seconds, the sky turned pitch black. A massive bolt of yellow lightning came crashing down from the sky, aimed straight at Draeven's unconscious body.
It was fast. Faster than thought.
His body moved before his mind could catch up. His instincts took over. Without thinking, he threw himself forward, stepping between Draeven and the incoming blast, sword raised high.
The lightning struck him head-on.
Electricity surged through the blade and into his soaked body. Pain exploded through every nerve. His muscles locked. He screamed.
But just before he lost consciousness, he twisted his sword and—using the last of his strength—redirected the lightning upward, sending it back into the storm.
"Damn you, Zeus," he muttered before collapsing to the ground.
