Chapter 55 - A Beam of Hope

Urion's weapon was almost visible over Aiden's neck when suddenly something pushed the portal guardian. It was Sir Larot, who threw himself at him with all his might. The viewers and those present felt relieved not to witness another death. Some wrote, "Well, whoever you are, that dark knight sure puts up a fight," and some more asked, "How much longer can he fight against that thing?" Additionally, others said, "Poor puppy," referring to Podbe. Opinions online were mixed.

Sir Larot had to save the boy for two reasons: one, because they needed him to create the new Metalux, and second, because he had to finish off Urion as he had promised Adia.

Melisa was trying to cover all the details of the story while moving from side to side, filming Larot and Urion's fight. She observed the scene of the little boy and his lifeless dog on the ground.

Larot began to activate the special abilities of his suit. "I had no other choice." "I needed to finish off this monster," he told himself as his hands started to turn red like fire, and he began hitting Urion. The people kept supporting him with each blow that landed on the creature. A huge cloud of dust rose between the two due to the powerful attacks of The Dark Knight.

Aiden, holding Podbe in his arms, began to shake him to see if he was still alive, but there was no reaction. Reia indicated that she was sorry when, suddenly, memories of all the moments Aiden had spent with Podbe since they met began to project in his mind, leading to the fateful moment he was in. Get up, open your eyes, little friend, he said softly at first and then screamed in pain, calling the dog's name. Everyone felt sad about what they saw, both in their homes and on the battlefield. In the boy's mind, Reia was about to speak to him when her voice started to distort and fade away, as if the system had vanished. Aiden could no longer hear her in his mind, and with that, he knew his pet had died.

Aiden's friends, Maria and Billy, wanted to get closer, including Elena, but the scientists indicated it was not safe. Even the two cadets, Eduard and Gat, and Ezequiel himself. "But we can't leave our friend alone, not in a situation like this," said Billy, hitting the ground with his fist in frustration because he knew that if he got too close, he could end up like a dog. At that moment, Marie's phone, which hadn't worked underground, started ringing. It was the boss who had been watching the broadcast. She answered with a trembling voice and said, Hello, boss, what's going on? Tell me.

Marie, what is this? You can't be broadcasting this; the world shouldn't know about these kinds of things. We are responsible for ensuring people's safety and the world, and now everything is falling apart. Team C won't be able to control this; it's already out of control, said the boss angrily over the phone. Marie didn't know what to say to the boss when Lidia and Rino brought Ezequiel close to the phone. He began to speak to the boss in a rough and serious tone. Boss, calm down; you can't blame the poor girl. This is something beyond her control. Besides, you should be asking how we are because we are all beaten up. "We're not machines; we're human," Ezequiel said. Marie gave him a thumbs up, thanking him for saving her from the situation while she bowed her head in shame.

The boss took a deep breath and said, "I know; I'm sorry." Is everyone safe? Agent B indicated that yes, they barely made it, and that the animal was the key to something very powerful. But now is not the time to talk about that. Can you send a containment team to deal with that out-of-control guardian? Not even our enemy can handle him. I'm sorry, but I can't send anyone; there's no one in the office. The other agents are on various missions around the world. If I send transportation, the boss said. I don't think so, boss; if we leave, that guy will still find us. "He's destroying the world," replied Ezequiel.

At that moment, they were interrupted by a noise in the environment: the country's armed forces, a few helicopters, and soldiers inside them, and from the mountains, tanks with more soldiers descending and approaching the area. "Thanks, boss, for the help," said Gat, who attended the call. The boss replied, "Are you talking about me?" I didn't request military reinforcements. They probably decided to send people to verify the broadcast's veracity, thought the boss. But the truth was that the person who called the army was Melisa's boss, who wanted to ensure the safety of his reporting team.

Once the dust cloud dissipated, it was clear that Larot's blows had done nothing to Urion. The latter kicked him so hard in the stomach that he spat blood and was thrown to the ground, his arms pinned by the black knight's legs with such force that he screamed in pain. Larot said it was the first time he had been affected by so much pain while cursing Urion.

Melisa watched the army arrive and informed her viewers, "Finally," we have a heavyweight. The army has come to support us in destroying that insect. Viewers commented online, some saying, "It's great; the army came to save us," while others opined, "I think they've just brought more toys for the monster to break and people for it to kill."

A person who seemed to be the team leader who arrived in one of the tanks took a radio and, with his hand, signaled the soldiers to approach and attack the monster. Immediately, about fifty soldiers began to descend from the ships with their weapons in hand. They approached the monster and started shooting at it with their machine guns and shotguns. Again, a huge cloud of dust emerged. All the soldiers present stopped when their leader signaled them. When the dust settled, there was nothing in that place but a big hole. Everyone thought they had managed to get rid of that thing, but they were wrong. From the sky, they saw The Dark Knight fall onto one of the tanks, and when they looked up, they saw Urion without a scratch, with his two hands turned into weapons and his wings moving. Connecting telepathically, he said, "Foolish humans," you will pay for confronting me, the great Urion. Those present who didn't know where the voice was coming from were stunned, wondering who this Urion was, while Zeus and Adia's group knew exactly who he was.

What was that? Asked Melisa and Creg. I don't know, but it was a very threatening voice. Do you think it was that thing that spoke? They questioned. Quick, film over there, high up! Melisa instructed Creg as they saw Urion flying rapidly towards the helicopters, destroying all the artifacts in his path. Explosions could be seen in the air, and some pilots managed to escape, but they were quickly intercepted by Urion and eliminated. The crazed guardian went after them one by one, then descended like an eagle seeking its prey, cutting down soldiers on the ground. Another bloodbath could be seen. The army leader was horrified to see all his soldiers being massacred and soon instructed the tanks to fire all the artillery! The tanks obeyed and fired missiles and machine guns, but it was in vain. Urion, with his two weapons, cut the missiles, and the explosions caused didn't even tickle him; the bullets just bounced off his chest. Suddenly, he stood in front of the lead tank and fired laser beams from his eyes, first taking out the leader and then moving his attack to the others, wiping out the whole platoon in an instant. Again, he activated his telepathy to communicate with everyone. So, we were with the boy. "It's time for him to die," and he began to run towards Aiden.

This time, Larot couldn't do anything. He was so beaten that he could barely stand. He just shouted, "Damn it!" while watching the monster head towards the boy again. This time, I will finish you with a single slash. All the viewers were scared of that almighty being that had taken down numerous soldiers and weaponry as if cutting through paper. Some wrote, "It's our judgment day"; others, "We're doomed." First that boy, and then all the rest. Everyone was scared; some just huddled at home, and others closed their eyes.

Urion was already close to Aiden again, who continued crying, shedding his tears over Podbe's lifeless body, repeating, "Get up, wake up, Podbe." He was about to cut him when he stopped a few meters away. What is that? What is this presence I feel? Why am I paralyzed? Everyone wondered the same. Why did he stop so close to accomplishing his task? Even Zeus wondered.

Aiden was dumbfounded when an aura began to emanate from Podbe, like the formation of a galaxy. The boy watched in amazement as the dog radiated an ethereal light that enveloped his body. Slowly, Podbe's body rose into the sky from Aiden's hands, and he looked up, mesmerized, as all that galactic light emanated from the dog's heart.

Suddenly, the light completely enveloped Podbe, transforming him into a majestic wolf-like creature. His body was covered with small galaxies that seemed to burn on his four paws, while constellations of stars shone in his fur, revealing the dark and mysterious space between them. His eyes were two bright nebulae, and in the center of his forehead glowed a luminous crescent moon. The creature, the size of a tiger, let out a great and powerful howl towards the sky.
