Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Battle of the Mangekyō

Blades flashed and clashed!

A masterful Body Flicker Technique, combined with terrifying swordsmanship.

Dense sword shadows wove into an intricate web.

However, against Obito Uchiha's intangibility, these attacks were meaningless.

Once again, a swift slash passed harmlessly through Obito's body.

This couldn't continue.

With a single Body Flicker, Shisui Uchiha retreated from the battlefield.

"Space-time ninjutsu."

The four-pointed shuriken Mangekyō Sharingan met the three-scythe windmill Mangekyō Sharingan in a silent clash.

After just a brief exchange, Shisui understood how troublesome his opponent was.

A space-time jutsu that allowed intangibility—he had no way to counter it.

"The so-called 'Shunshin no Shisui'… in my eyes, just an empty name."

Obito spoke coldly, gripping a chain in his hand.

Shisui wasn't angered; only the killing intent in his eyes grew stronger.

This enemy could not be left alive—he was too dangerous.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

With swift hand seals, Shisui expelled a massive fireball nearly five meters in diameter.

The fireball rushed toward Obito, yet Obito didn't even attempt to dodge—it simply phased through him.

Flames exploded, scorching the ground black.

Obito stood unharmed in the aftermath.

"Ninjutsu, kenjutsu, taijutsu… none of it works. That only leaves genjutsu."

The Uchiha's Sharingan was fearsome in the field of illusion.

However, the Mangekyō Sharingan had an extremely high resistance to genjutsu.

That was why Shisui had refrained from using it so far. But now, he had no other option.

If regular genjutsu didn't work—

Then he would use his strongest technique, Kotoamatsukami, to directly alter Obito's will and force him to commit suicide.

As the wielder of the strongest illusion, Kotoamatsukami, Shisui had an unmatched understanding of genjutsu.

He didn't even need eye contact to activate it—his illusions worked at a distance.

During the Third Great Ninja War, he had used this very technique from afar to drive away a Mist Ninja squad. If not for their captain, Ao, possessing the Byakugan, they would have never realized who had cast the genjutsu.

"Demonic Illusion: Naraka Sight."

Shisui formed hand seals, and blood trickled from his Mangekyō Sharingan.

No matter how strong one's will was, everyone had fears they could not face.

This genjutsu materialized those fears, making the target believe they were real.

The deeper the fear, the stronger the illusion's hold.

Obito's body trembled, as if he had seen something terrifying. He involuntarily took two steps back, but in the next moment, he let out a crazed roar.

"It's all fake! Even this entire world is fake!"

In less than two seconds, Obito had broken free from the illusion.

"As expected, genjutsu works on you!"

Shisui's hands moved into another set of seals—just now, he had only used a simple D-rank illusion.

Now that he had found an opening, he unleashed his attack.

Obito, realizing that his Kamui's weakness had been exposed, grew serious.

"Wood Release: Hell's Chaos!"

Obito quickly formed hand seals.

Wood Release: Hell's Chaos was a technique that created multiple thorn-covered trees, spiraling upward to entangle and crush enemies, capable of devastating a wide area.

After losing control, Obito had used this against the Hidden Mist's Anbu, slaughtering all the Mist-nin. Blood pooled on the ground, turning it into a literal river of blood.

Countless thorny vines sprouted beneath Shisui Uchiha's feet, attempting to ensnare him. However, Shisui was too fast—these vines couldn't catch him.

"Wood Release?"

Shisui had thought he had seen enough shocking things tonight, but witnessing the legendary Bloodline Limit of the God of Shinobi, Hashirama—Wood Release—was yet another surprise.

"Wood Release: Cutting Sprigs Technique."

Obito moved through the forest of vines, countless wooden spikes shooting toward Shisui.

Seeing the overwhelming barrage of wooden spikes, Shisui evaded with the Body Flicker.

The spikes embedded themselves into the ground and instantly exploded, forming clusters of spiky formations, resembling sea urchins.

"That was dangerously close."

Shisui exhaled slightly. Wood Release truly was terrifying.

At that moment, Obito had vanished.

The surroundings fell eerily silent.

Shisui's eyes scanned the area.

Behind him, Obito slowly emerged—he had phased through a tree.

A hand reached toward the back of Shisui's head.

"If I catch you, you lose."

As long as Obito touched someone, he could pull them into his Kamui dimension, where they would starve to death.

No matter how strong Shisui was, he was still human. And humans could die of hunger.

He was getting closer.

Just as Obito's hand was about to make contact—

A flash of steel.

A swift and powerful slash tore through half of Obito's body.

Yet, no blood spilled.

Instead, a white substance oozed out.

Hashirama's cells.

Shisui slowly turned his head.

"So, I can only hit you when you're attacking."

It was a risky test—using himself as bait.

A gamble with his own life.

Only someone with immense combat experience and an unshakable mindset could make such a decision.

Shisui stared at Obito, whose body had been partially cut open.

Obito touched his wound.

"You really are impressive, Shisui Uchiha. To carry out my plan, it seems you must die."

"Wood Release: Thorn Execution."

Obito quickly formed hand seals, and countless vines burst from the ground, surging toward Shisui.

"It's useless."

Shisui's figure vanished instantly. When he reappeared, there were dozens of Shisuis surrounding the area.

Obito's body began sinking into the ground—just then—

Shisui suddenly appeared right in front of him. His Body Flicker was simply too fast.

"Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes."

Shisui's eyes widened.

Obito's body froze.

It was a unique visual genjutsu activated through the Sharingan. The target would feel as if their body was being impaled by massive iron stakes, rendering them completely immobile.

At the same time, the illusion induced a sensation of unbearable pain. This technique was often used for interrogation—a weaker version of Tsukuyomi.

As a genjutsu cast through the Sharingan, it made the victim feel as though their limbs were nailed in place, stripping them of their ability to move.

Taking advantage of the moment—

Shisui's short blade plunged directly into Obito's heart.

Puchi!

This time, it was solid—Obito had not phased through it.
