Bai Shiyue looked away, her fingers absently rubbing slow circles over her belly. "I don't know why you're doing this, but… thanks, I guess."
Qingran leaned against the car, watching her. "Don't thank me yet."
Bai Shiyue raised an eyebrow. "Should I be worried?"
"Not unless you plan on running off somewhere," Qingran said dryly.
Bai Shiyue let out a short laugh, shaking her head. "I'm five months pregnant, not an athlete. Trust me, I'm not running anywhere."
Qingran hummed. "Good."
"Buckle up. I'll drop you off at your place," Qingran said, pushing off the car and opening the door.
Bai Shiyue hesitated for a moment before nodding, sliding into the passenger seat. As Qingran started the car and pulled out onto the road, Bai Shiyue glanced sideways at her. "So… you're really just doing this out of the kindness of your heart?"
Qingran's grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly.
