Chapter 35 - The Ghost

It's the hooded man from before, the same cloak, the same gloves, and he just slashed open a man's throat.

Blood smeared not only on himself and the men behind his victim, but went as far as my uncle's face on the adjacent balcony.

"WHAT!?"

"THE FUCK?!"

The men from Living Cemetery all took a step back and exclaimed upon seeing their comrade in front drop to his demise, throat slit open, by the pair of scissors the hooded man still holds.

"THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!"

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!"

"Move!" Eleanor yells out to my uncle, who was still standing on the balcony in complete disbelief, aghast and stunned.

It didn't work, my uncle was in way too much shock that he froze up.

It's quite obvious this is the first time he's seen a weapon functioning outside Campaign and Endless in his long three years stay.

I would've reacted the same way if I was in his shoes, but now's not the time.

I grabbed uncle's wrist and dragged him with me towards the exit of the apartment room we were in. How the tables have turned, I'm the one dragging him now.

"Let's go." Eleanor said while closing the apartment door once everyone's out in the corridor.

We dashed downstairs amain. Luckily, it was as expected, all the men chasing us were at the balconies. The corridor and the stairwell was completely clear.

"Block #111 right?"

"Yeah."

She seems to know where that is, as she continues taking the lead, walking in front of us with cautious but swift steps.

We reached ground floor. Next to and between every apartment building blocks, are intricately decorated gardens dimly lit up with lanterns.

We followed Eleanor's directions and eventually reached my apartment room without any more disturbance. I dragged my uncle while Eleanor dragged Ken all the way.

When unlocking the door with my key, I realised how badly I was shaking at the moment.

"Come in." Got the door open anyways, and shut it quickly in fear once everyone's in.

Almost all of us were out of breath, Eleanor leaned against the wall, Ken collapsed on my bed, and I leaned against the door.

Out of nowhere, my uncle conjured an ice sword on his hand, and swung it through the wall.

As expected, it phased right through, leaving the wall untouched.

"What the hell..."

I pulled out my small dagger for a quick experiment too, I used it to slowly poke through my skin.

But I felt no pain, it turned translucent and phased right through.

"That shouldn't be possible..."

My uncle continued testing all his weapons, at one point he got so frustrated he swung his ice sword through his very skull.

But as expected, nothing happened, it phased right through.

"What?!" My uncle exclaimed in disbelief.

Eleanor also didn't have any input on why this could happen, she just lets out a sigh of relief that we're not caught and breathes heavily to recuperate from the exhausting chase.

Ken on the other hand, oh Ken's pretty much dead, I can't feel any life from him on that bed.

"Did you know about this?" My uncle asks me.

"No."

He leans his back against a wall, still wearing a bewildered face.

"Player Ghostdoctor transferred 2 points to you."

"Player Ghostdoctor transferred 1 points to you."

"Player Ghostdoctor transferred 1 points to you."

"Player Ghostdoctor transferred 1 points to you."

Again, my earpiece informs me of the new message from Ghostdoctor in the form of points transactions.

I pulled out the folded morse code translator from my pocket and got to work.

"What is that?"

"Morse code translator, Ghostdoctors sending him messages with point transactions." Eleanor explains to my uncle.

B, L, O, C, K, 1, 1, 1, R, O, O, M, 0, 6, 1, R, I, G, H, T, S, T, A, I, R.

Message: Block #111, room 061, use right stairwell.

Using my earpiece, I sent my own message back to him in points transactions.

I sent, "All of us" as if asking him "All of us should come?"

He replied, "Yes."

"We gotta move again."

I think there's no mistaking it now, the hooded man is Ghostdoctor, the man with the scissors is Ghostdoctor, the one who told me to learn morse code and is now sending messages with morse code is Ghostdoctor.

I tried storing the morse code translator in my inventory, the earpiece responded with "No items in hand."

From that, I deduced that this piece of paper, as well as the pair of scissors he had was not game property. In terms of where it came from, well, I don't know, but it's definitely where this ghost of an individual come from too.

"What?"

"WHAT?!"

"What message did he send you this time?"

Uncle's confused, Ken's triggered and frustrated by the fact that moving is necessary again, only Eleanor is still composed.

"Room 061 of this block, that's the leftmost room on the top floor, but he also requested us to use the right stairwell."

"Wait sorry, Ghostdoctor's sending these?" Uncle asks.

"Yeah."

"And we're just gonna follow it?"

"He killed a man from Living Cemetery earlier, I think that already proved that he's here to help."

"Wait huh? That's him?"

"Yes, there's no mistaking it, let's go."

I opened the door again and headed for the right stairwell by myself, knowing they'll catch up eventually.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

I stopped in front of the door of room 061 until the team's all present, then knocked.

"Come in." A familiar voice comes from inside, the voice that suggested me to learn morse code.

I confidently opened the door and into the room.

Inside, the man in the cloak, but with his hood down and head exposed, back against us, staring out the glass door.

All we could see was his silhouette with the moonlit background, making him seem ominous, mysterious and a little bit menacing.

"Ghostdoctor." Before I call out to him, my uncle did.

Ghostdoctor turned around, revealing a scarily scarred face.

There's a knife scar on his jaw, knife scar on his cheek, and the most hideous of them all is the massive knife scar running down diagonally from his forehead and cutting through his right eye.

His right iris was grey, unlike his left which was dark brown, results of getting literally sliced through I guess.

"Please...shut the door, Frostbite."
