Chapter 2 - Reaper’s Judgment

The moment I consumed the light, the universe responded.

I had taken something I should not have. Not dust, not debris, not a shattered remnant of a long-dead world—something else. Something woven into the very laws that governed existence.

The System had sent that light.

And now, it had sent its executioner.

A pulse of crimson energy seared through the void, distorting the abyss itself. It did not illuminate. It did not radiate heat.

But where it passed, reality did not break—it collapsed.

As if something had reached into existence itself and stolen the very idea of what had once been there.

The Nova Reaper had come.

Its presence was suffocating, though I had no lungs. It had no form, yet I felt it—a burning decree, a cosmic sentence made manifest. I had devoured something forbidden, and for that, I would be undone.

The light had been a test. A baited hook. And like an anomaly that did not belong, I had swallowed it whole.

Now the System would correct its mistake.

It did not hesitate.

The void shuddered as its energy surged toward me—a wave of silent annihilation, a force that did not burn or break but simply unmade.

Instinct screamed. Pull. Grow. Survive.

I reached, widening my event horizon. The shattered remains of a celestial body tumbled toward me, dust and fractured ice vanishing into my being. Not enough.

I was not fast enough.

The execution wave struck.

I had no nerves, no body—yet I felt it. A part of me simply... vanished.

No wound. No pain. Just absence. A missing thought. A memory I could no longer recall.

Had I lost a piece of myself? A fragment of my awareness?

I didn't know. And that was the worst part.

The execution force did not leave scars. It left nothing.

A part of me simply… gone.

My existence flickered, edges unraveling. The hunger within me howled, desperate to hold itself together. I fought to reclaim what had been lost, but the force was absolute.

And then, something within me shifted.

I had consumed the light. A fragment of the System's energy, buried deep within me, woven into my being like a parasite inside a host. It did not belong to me—yet I had taken it.

And now, I understood.

The Nova Reaper was not just here to kill me.

It was here to take the light back.

The execution wave flared, another pulse forming, stronger than the first. This one would not flicker. This one would erase me completely.

I could not dodge. I had no body, no thrusters, no way to move.

Unless I became something that could.

I reached—not for matter, not for mass, but for space itself.

The void rippled.

And for the first time, I moved.

Not through propulsion. Not through force. But by folding reality around me.

The second pulse struck empty space.

The Nova Reaper hesitated.

I did not stop.

My hunger screamed, reaching—not for dust, not for debris, but for the formless annihilation itself.

At first, there was nothing. The force was not like rock or ice, not something tangible to be taken. It was law, written into reality itself. It refused to be devoured, slipping through my pull like a shadow refusing to be grasped.

But hunger is a law, too.

And I had become the void.

The void rippled.

For the first time, the execution force wavered. A hesitation. A flaw in what should have been absolute. It flickered at my edges, resisting—yet struggling to do so.

And I understood.

It had never been challenged before. It had never been consumed.

Until now.

The System had never accounted for something like me.

And as I devoured what was meant to destroy me.

⚠ [WARNING: ERROR_0001 IS ADAPTING.]

⚠ [SYSTEM OVERRIDE FAILED.]

The Nova Reaper pulsed, its presence flaring with something that was not quite urgency, but close. It had come as an executioner, a force beyond resistance.

Now, it hesitated.

Now, it recalculated.

The Nova Reaper froze, as if recalculating the impossible.
