"So... what you're trying to say is that you fell here from another world?"
"And when you tried to leave, an unknown god stopped you?"
"Mhm. Yes," Lumine nodded, kneeling in the sand. Her finger traced lines on the shore as she drew a strange, ominous figure. "My brother and I were trying to leave this world when the Unknown God appeared."
"Was this god strong?" Paimon asked, floating in a slow circle above the sketch.
"Very strong. Our fight with Her... it didn't even last five minutes." Lumine's expression darkened. "We attacked her together, but she blocked everything with ease."
Her voice dropped. "The first to go was my brother. When she stopped our attacks, these... cubes appeared. And they tried to envelope us. I fortunately was able to let go of my weapon just in time, but my brother wasn't. and He was taken."
"In a last ditch effort i tried one last strike, I put everything I had into it. I thought-maybe-just maybe I could hurt her. But it did nothing. And I was consumed too."
She drew a sharp breath. "And just like that the God took away my Brother
some kind of seal was placed upon me, and i lost my power so while the two of us used to travel from world to world I'm now stuck here."
She paused, her voice low and uncertain. "How long ago was it I don't know but when I woke up my Brother was gone and I'm all alone in this unknown world, well that until I met well fish you out I guess."
"Yeah!" Paimon chirped, flapping higher into the air. "Paimon really owes you for that otherwise Paimon would have drowned to death."
"That's why Paimon would stay by your side Traveler and guide you throughout Teyvat and help you find your Brother."
Lumine smiled faintly and stood up, brushing sand from her knees.
"Well then, Paimon. Let's get going."
She tucked the last piece of grilled fish into her inventory, and with her strange flying companion at her side, they began their trek toward Mondstadt.
They hadn't made it far before Lumine stopped, squinting toward the water.
"Paimon... am I seeing things, or is that a body floating in the ocean?"
"Huh?" Paimon blinked. "Traveler, you must be seeing things! I mean, what kind of-OH MY ARCHONS! That is a body! Quick, save them!"
Without hesitation, Lumine dove in. She reached the figure-face-down and barely moving-and dragged it back to shore with effort.
Now that the body was out of the water, its face was revealed: soft, delicate features, pale skin, soaked hair clinging to cheeks. Lumine crouched beside them, her dress trailing in the wet sand.
She poked a cheek gently. "Girl...? Boy...?" she muttered, confused. The figure didn't stir.
She stared at the girl/boy delicate face for a long time before finally a voice broke her stupor.
"Uh, Traveler?" Paimon floated closer. "Shouldn't we check if they're, you know, alive?"
"Ah! Right." Lumine jolted. "HELLO? CAN YOU HEAR ME? ARE YOU ALIVE?" She gave the figure a gentle shake.
"Traveler! That's not how-"
Grrrrgl.
A loud, deep stomach growl rumbled from the mysterious figure.
They grunted, barely lifting their head. "Do... you have something I can... eat?"
Lumine and Paimon stared in silence. Not because he was a boy, or because of the monstrous growl, but because of what he said.
"...Huh?" they both blurted in unison.
"Who asks for food first?!" Paimon whispered. "Shouldn't he be asking where he is?"
Unconsciously Lumine looks up to paimon before taking out the grilled fish in her inventory.
The boy's eyes snapped open. His hand shot out, and before she could blink, the fish was gone-devoured, bones and all. He even crunched through the skewer stick like it was nothing.
Lumine blinked. "You... ate the stick?"
He lay back in the sand, breathing heavily. "...It was food."
"Wha-! That was a skewer!" Paimon shouted, flailing in midair. "You don't eat sticks!"
The boy didn't respond. His eyes were half-closed again, but unlike before they weren't lifeless-they were focused.
"More..." he croaked. "Please."
