Chapter 44 - Deception VI

Lia was tense; every part of her body was shaking; her eyes couldn't stay focused on the figure in front of her. For some strange reason, her body was reacting this way; she had many things to say to the person in question, but her courage was flagging. It wasn't until the boy in front of her spoke that the silence was broken.

"Miss Lia, you don't have to be afraid of me. Just say what you want to tell me and I will listen to you."

Those were the words that came out of the white-haired boy's mouth; he had a big smile on his face, but it wasn't that easy for Lia to do what she was asked. Although she had calmed down a little, for some strange reason her body was shaking; she instinctively knew that the reason was in those blue eyes that were looking at her. After a brief silence, she gathered her courage and answered nervously:

"I'm not afraid; I'm a princess."

Lia replied, making eye contact for a few seconds and then looking away again.

"I see; it seems that my eyes are bothering you; then I will close them."

Lía watched as he closed his eyes; she didn't dare to stop him, since it was true that those eyes made her uncomfortable; she didn't know the exact reason, but she felt vulnerable and insecure in front of them.

"Is this better?"

"Y-yes."

Now that those eyes weren't looking at her, she was able to make eye contact with the boy; she could take in his beautiful form: white hair, blue eyes, beautiful skin. Lia felt an urge to touch him, but she held back. Lia asked in a shy voice:

"Doesn't it bother you to have your eyes closed?"

"No; even though I have my eyes closed, I can see you clearly."

"Oh really?".

"Yeah".

Lia narrowed her eyes in suspicion; it was obvious that she didn't believe him; she didn't know anyone who could see with their eyes closed. After a moment of reflection, she said in a slightly more confident tone:

"Liar".

"It's not a lie."

"If it's a lie, no one can see it with their eyes closed."

"Yes I can."

"So, prove it to me. Which hand am I touching my head with?"

Lia tested the boy; she wanted to expose his lie; she put her right hand on his head and watched very carefully that his eyes were not open. The boy's response was not long in coming, and he replied:

"You are touching your head with your right hand."

Hearing the answer, Lia's mouth opens slightly in surprise.

"And now you just opened your mouth a little."

Lia opened her mouth even wider.

"It opened up more."

"How did you do it?"

"I have good eyesight, that's all."

Lia had not realized that her fear and shyness had completely disappeared, and with each word she exchanged with the boy, her self-confidence slowly increased. She herself was not aware that she had overcome her shyness, without realizing it she was gaining confidence and abandoning the etiquette of royalty.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Lia was worried; the boy's hand was bandaged with white gauze; the mansion staff had said that his hand was still unhealed and was red hot. From what she had heard, the white gauze was applied by himself; for some reason she didn't know, he refused to be treated by the mansion staff.

"Don't worry about my injury; it may not look like it, but I'm very strong."

"Thank you for saving me."

Lía finally said it; she knew that if she didn't say it now, she would never do it; filling herself with courage and euphoria, she said what she wanted to tell him for a long time:

"And please be my friend."

That last statement came out without thinking; her mind was already on edge; her courage and determination were plummeting when she realized what she had said; she tried to correct herself, but it was too late.

"I accept your thanks wholeheartedly, and I accept the proposal; let us be friends, Miss Lia."

The boy said with his beautiful smile, which didn't seem to want to disappear from his face. Lia's ears heated up and turned red; her cheeks and face were no exception; her hands began to tremble, and her eyes couldn't focus on the boy's figure again.

"I think it's time for me to retire."

Lia was shocked; she couldn't believe he had actually said that to her; he told her to be friends. The boy, shortly after, left the room; she couldn't say goodbye to him, as she was frozen in place, and her mind and heart were a mess; she could only watch him leave without being able to do anything. When she was completely alone in her room, her shame was activated, and she adopted her aunt's bad habit and began tossing and turning like a crazy person in her bed; she didn't know that she was being watched at that moment by a certain boy. When she stopped tossing and turning like a crazy person and managed to extinguish her shame, she fixed her messy hair and her clothes; then she ran out of her room and ran at full speed to where her mother was; she had to tell her what had happened; her mother and her aunt were her greatest confidants. She ran and ran through the halls of the mansion; a royal guard followed her hidden. After a few minutes of running, she finally reached the main room of the mansion; there she met her family.

The room was finely decorated; at a glance, one could see the wealth of the royal family; they were sitting on luxurious furniture; her mother, father, grandfather, and aunt were sharing sweets; now that they had moved into the mansion, it had become their custom to hold tea parties daily. Seeing Leah's agitation, everyone became worried. The first to speak was Eryn, who rose from her seat quickly and greeted her with a warm, motherly hug.

"What's hap-?"

But Eryn didn't have time to even ask; Leah quickly bombarded her mother:

"Mom, I made a friend."

Hearing that one statement, Maedhros nearly choked on the candy still in his throat; Angrod was surprised, but didn't show it on his face; and Idril already seemed to have an idea of who that little friend was. Eryn, on the other hand, gave her daughter a warm smile and said:

"Tell me more, my child."
