Takayuki couldn't stop thinking about Stranded Kids. After the intense Saturday session where he built a solid camp, survived a storm, and met the surprise Zabo-man Easter egg, he felt more connected to the game than any he had played before. It wasn't just a survival sim—it was a story of persistence, isolation, and discovery.
He woke up early Sunday morning, skipped breakfast again, and launched the game right from his futon, still in his pajamas. The save screen greeted him: Day 8. Kaito, his in-game avatar, was standing near the small bamboo shelter Takayuki had painstakingly crafted the night before.
His goal now? Escape.
But not just any escape. He had read the old researcher's notes scattered around the island. The messages hinted at multiple ways to leave the island and even suggested there were several endings based on what choices the player made. Some notes warned about taking the raft too soon. Others hinted that a mysterious cave to the west might hold the key to understanding the island's secrets.
Takayuki loved this kind of thing.
He scribbled notes on a piece of paper beside him. "Cave system - northwest cliff. Raft path - east beach. Strange markings near the waterfall."
First, he decided to explore the cave. Kaito had to craft a torch, which meant collecting resin and dry branches, then using a flint to ignite it. It took some trial and error, but once inside, the dark cave unveiled an underground ecosystem: glowing moss, strange crystals, and eventually, a deep pool of water with a rope bridge overhead. It was like something from a fantasy novel.
Crossing the bridge triggered another cutscene. A rusted recorder sat near a skeleton in ragged clothing. Kaito played the recording: the voice of the researcher. He had been experimenting with the island's unique flora to create a powerful medicine—but something went wrong. The final words on the recorder echoed in Takayuki's ears:
"This island chooses who leaves. It tests you first."
"Okay," Takayuki whispered, eyes glued to the screen. "This just got deep."
Motivated by the cave discovery, Takayuki pushed harder. Over the next in-game days, he expanded his base, added rain catchers and fish traps, and even crafted makeshift armor after getting attacked by a rogue wildcat. He tamed a parrot, which would sometimes scout ahead and warn him of weather changes or predator threats.
By Day 14, his team of tools and crafted items included:
A sharpened spear (with bone tip)Reinforced backpackBamboo armorSolar still (gifted via Zabo-man event)Fishing netMakeshift glider (crafted from cloth and branches)
That's when he decided to fix the raft.
Fixing it required several rare components: waterproof tar, strong rope, and a solid sail. These weren't easy to find—he had to barter with a group of monkeys by leaving food offerings to get one of the rare ropes, and the tar required boiling tree sap for several in-game hours.
Finally, after completing the raft, the game asked: "Are you ready to leave the island?
Yes Not yet"
Takayuki hovered for a moment, then selected "Yes."
Another cutscene began. Kaito pushed the raft into the waves and began sailing away. As the screen faded to white, images of all the milestones Takayuki achieved flashed by: crafting his first spear, surviving the storm, discovering the cave, and finding the parrot companion.
Then came the ending.
ENDING UNLOCKED: "The Survivor"
Kaito is picked up by a passing cargo ship. He looks back at the island, smiling slightly. In a voiceover, he reflects on everything he learned: the value of patience, ingenuity, and adapting to the wild. The camera pans up to the sky, with the island slowly disappearing behind clouds. Then it show a word in island Beach "Kaito Was here"
Takayuki sat motionless. The ending wasn't flashy. It was quiet. Reflective. Meaningful.
He blinked.
"Wait... Ending? You mean there's more than one?" he muttered.
Sure enough, after the credits rolled, a new screen unlocked in the main menu: "Endings Discovered: 1/4."
His jaw dropped. "Five endings!?"
The game hinted at others:
"The Survivor" (Escape by raft)
"The Scientist" (Discover all research logs)
"The Islander" (Choose to stay and master the island)
"The Rescued" (Signal for help successfully)
"The Lost" (Fail to escape and vanish forever)
"No way... This is genius!" Takayuki was already mentally planning his next run. This time, he wouldn't escape. He'd find every secret. Every hidden cave. He wanted to become "The Islander."
He looked at the ZGB in his hands, admiration glowing in his eyes.
"Best damn handheld ever. Best damn game ever. Zaboru... you're a genius." Takayuki grin and as usual fanboying over Zaboru
He clicked "New Game," eager to dive back into the world of Stranded Kids—this time with different choices, better strategies, and the drive to see all the endings.
To be continued.
