Third person POV
Mily stood outside the surgeon's office with her hands clasped tightly together. Her fingers trembled as though they carried the weight of a thousand unanswered prayers. Her head leaned lightly against the cream-colored wall, the coolness offering little relief to the firestorm inside her. When the nurse finally opened the door and gestured for her to enter, Mily took a deep breath, bracing herself for whatever awaited her on the other side.
The surgeon, a graying man with kind but weary eyes, motioned for her to sit.
"Mrs. Hart," he began softly, "your husband is stable for now. The surgery was a success, but there are some complications we need to monitor closely."
Mily's lips trembled. "What kind of complications?"
"There was some internal bleeding we managed to control, but the head trauma… we're uncertain of the extent of damage just yet. He hasn't regained consciousness. We'll need to wait and observe his brain activity."
