Logan entered his study and immediately mindlinked Darius.
'Any news?'
'My lord not yet but we have discovered some clues. In a short time they'll be located.' Darius responded. He had actually been finding it difficult to locate their covens. The corpses carried a different scent.
If felt like they were used as bait by their coven leaders. Even with the leads Darius had gathered it was still useless.
'Do not waste anymore time. My patience is wearing thin. Find them by all means latest by tomorrow's afternoon.' Without waiting for any response Logan cut the link.
He settled on his desk filled with paperwork. He couldn't bring himself to concentrate as various thoughts occupied his mind.
He remembered vividly the bloody dead body of Disha. Even though he never loved her, she was still family. It left a dent on his life but Layla was able to change him.
He would have lost her today if he was a minute late.
The thought alone made him grip his table tightly. Blood must be shed. It's been quite a while.
The following morning Layla rolled of her bed as Rosie was ready to assist her with her bath.
As soon as Layla came out of the elevator, a sweet yet spicy scent hit her nostrils.
"Hmm it smells so good." Layla then stopped a maid who was passing by.
"My lady." She said bowing.
"What am I having for breakfast. It smells like beef-pork soup."
"My lady, Lord Logan is preparing your breakfast and wouldn't let anyone in." She said her head still bowed slightly.
"Mmm alright. You may leave." As the maid left, Layla found her way to the kitchen to see things for herself.
Just his back view made her breath hitch. He looked like a male god as he effortlessly tossed the pancakes in the pan making it fly in the air before catching it in the pan.
He had already noticed her presence but acted like he knew nothing. In all he was just trying to show off.
"Logan." She called.
Hearing her call his name he swiftly turned flashing her a bright smile.
"Honey your are up. Go wait at the table I'll serve breakfast shortly."
"Okay." She turned and left. She never imagined someone like him who owned a big mansion and usually busy at the company to know how to cook.
He was obviously rich so why did he have to learn to cook.
She just couldn't understand the lives of rich people.
Minutes after she settled down she heard Logan's footsteps approaching.
"Her comes breakfast! Here comes breakfast." He sang in tune with the popular wedding song.
Here comes the bride! Here comes the bride!
He served various dishes on the table like they were having a mini feast.
"Wow! You cooked a lot. They are so colourful! Let me try out this one." She said as she quickly dug into the pancakes with chocolate dripping.
"Mmmmm!" She exclaimed as she raised her two thumbs.
"You like it?" In response she nodded her head like a chicken pecking on grains. Not wanting to lift her eyes from the set on the table, she reached for another, and another.
Logan simply stared at her. She had become free and relaxed around him which was a good sign to him.
He then began to eat.
After satisfying her demanding stomach a loud burp escape her small lips.
Instinctively she covered them in embarrassment.
Logan chuckled lightly and gently ruffled her hair.
"No need to feel shy. It nature. You are nature itself remember?" He said with an eyebrow raised.
When he saw her forehead creased slightly in confusion he added.
"You are a witch."
"Oh."
"Yes I am. I was lost for a moment."
"I'll be leaving tonight" he gave a brief pause as he detected a drop in her countenance. He didn't know if it was because she was going to miss him or not allowing her to follow him.
"So I need you to stay safe. Do go out with protection from the bodyguards. At least two must follow you whenever you want to leave. I'll have James staying with you." Before she could respond he added.
"Instead Elsa would stay with you. I don't want men hovering around you. You've seen her before. She will be here before I depart."
She could only nod her head in acknowledgement.
He gently carried her in bridal style like she weighed nothing and headed straight for the elevator.
Layla hid her bright red face in his chest as he watched the elevator's countdown.
With a 'ding' he majestically walked in the direction of her room.
After spending sometime chatting she slept of while he headed for his room.
Inside his room he received a mindlink from Darius.
'My lord.' After a brief pause he continued.
' We discovered that those who kidnapped the lady are from Red blood city. We have located their various covens and we're currently awaiting your orders.' He reported.
'Good! Very good. That same city. It seems like what happened a hundred years ago had faded from their memories. I'll help them refresh it.' He commented with a sly smile and continued.
'Stay put and await my coming.'
'Yes my lord.'
'Elsa. Report to my study by 4pm today.' Logan ordered after disconnecting from Darius.
'Yes my lord.'
'What are your findings on what happened at Layla's school.'
'My lord according to the information gathered, a young human lady was harassed by the men. Her phone ended up stolen. From my findings, she human is named Betty. Age: 19, studying law and happens to know Layla.' She paused. Allowing the information to sink in before continuing.
'The wizards impersonated her voice with the help of a spell after coveting her phone.'
'Betty is currently in the mental hospital after narrating the incident to her family. She is to be discharged in a week's time.' She concluded.
'Alright.' Was Logan's short response.
She had gone through lengths to gather this information and all he could say is "Alright."?
Her face twisted in displeasure but luckily for her Logan couldn't see her expression.
