Thames peeked around his hiding place to see what had attacked him. He gulped has he took in the glimpse of the monster. It had skin so red it could be mistaken for it being inflamed, and it was covered in an unruly pelt of hair. The creature had four arms and-
That was all Thames saw before one of the arms whipped in his direction so fast it looked like a blur
CRASH
SHATTER
Thames dove to another desk, narrowly dodging the projectile that had been headed for him. He looked where he had been and saw the thrown object.
It was a rock. 'How strong was that fucking thing to be able to throw a rock with that much force'.
Thames peeked over his desk to get a clearer view at the creature. That just earned him another rock barreling towards his direction.
SWOOSH
CRASH
Thames leaped from desk to desk as the speed at which the monster pelted rocks increased.
CRASH
BASH
SMASH.
Thames ran around the room, narrowly dodging projectiles as they came eerily close to his head. If not for the Armor he was wearing that strangely augmented his movements, he wasn't sure he could've evaded most of the rocks.
'But this can't go on, sooner or later I'm gonna run out of energy, I need to bring that thing down'.
Thames continued to dodge, dashing to and fro around the room to avoid being pelted by the monster. He could see it looking at him with anger in it's eyes, all four of them.
The creature stood firmly in the center of the room, two of it's hands swinging as it chucked rocks at him, the others grabbing the rocks from the floor. It's legs were lean and yet muscular, and they supported it's huge frame.
Thames guessed the monster was around 7 feet tall and it was made of firm muscle.
'Okay, first things first, I need a weapon' Thames ruminated.
He had left all the weapons in the pod when he had scrambled out of it earlier.
And no thanks to his luck, it was located at his starting position, which meant he was going to have to run all the way back from where he was.
'That thing can't continue pelting me from where it stands, it's gonna come after me as soon as it runs out of rocks to throw'.
And sure enough, like a bad hex, the monster had run out of rocks to throw.
The creature grunted in annoyance as it hit the ground with force, punches so strong that they may have well have been sledgehammers.
Thames took the brief moment of respite to collect his breath, then made a mad dash towards the pod. He ran as fast as he could towards the pod, passing the monster who was still picking up rocks.
'Gruh' The monster grunted in confuion, the first vocal sound it had made since the confrontation began, it sent nerves through Thames's spine, but he still Ran.
The monster's eyes cleared in understanding when he saw where Thames was headed. It knew it's prey had spent all of it's time dodging it around, now that it was running in a direction single-mindedly, it only meant one of two things, it was going to escape or it had found a plan to kill it. Both of which where unfavorable actions. So it bounded after Thames.
Thames's hair stood on it's end, hearing the cracks the monster made on the floor as it sped towards him with only one purpose
To kill him
Thames ran as fast he could, the monster close on his heels. It reached out, and Thames dropped to his knees as fast as he could.
The creature's hand swung past where Thames's head had been mere moments ago. Thames scrambled up and ran around the monster as the momentum of it's attack had disrupted it's balance.
The monster quickly corrected itself and renewed it's chase, running towards the side of it's prey instead of behind it. It got closer, completely outclassing Thames in speed . The creature punched out again toward his face. And Thames was sure that if the punch connected, he would be a goner.
He ducked as fast as he could, narrowly missing the punch as it hit the wall and the section where the creature's fist had hit the wall just crumbled.
If Thames had any doubts about letting the creature hit him, they were gone. 'Like that wall'
The scrap continued as it fell into a rhythm, Thames narrowly dodging as the creature tried to catch him or hit him.
Thames was determined not to let that happen, as he inched closer to the pod, every punch, dodge, shattered wall brought him closer and closer back to the cursed contraption.
The creature swiped at Thames with all four of his hands, sheer hatred reflected in the green of his eyes, as it futilely tried to hit him.
Thames continued to dodge but remained close to the monster, 'That freak's probably going to pelt me with rocks if I get too far from it'
As Thames continued dodging, he looked around and realized he was very close to the pod and it was open. Dashing with all his might, he leapt towards the pod and the monster was right at his heel.
Thames landed and quickly pulled out the first weapon his hands touched.
He brought it in front of him, trying to intercept the punch that was reaching for his head.
CLANG.
The monster hit the blade and was pushed back. Thames almost dropped the weapon, the vibrations of the hit jarring his arm.
The brief moment of respite allowed him to see the weapon he had pulled out.
It was a sword or at least it looked like one.
It was less of a sword and more of a giant slab of metal sharpened to a murderous edge. Nearly as tall as it's wielder, it demanded strength and resolve with every swing.
And Thames was full of resolve. The memories that had been forced into his mind came to the forefront, techniques on how to wield the Great Sword effectively.
The Power Armor he was wearing stabilized and guided his increased strength and the anger and fear he had felt with the pain resurfaced threatening to consume him.
But now, he had a Target, something to unleashe that anger at.
Thames extended the Blade from his body in an offensive position, both hands gripping the hilt tightly.
Thames glared at the monster, determination and anger etched in his gaze.
He broke into a smile, more the effect of nerves than confidence, but a mix of both.
The creature returned his stare, dropping the rocks it had been gathering. Before, Thames was prey, running around and away from it, but now, this was a duel. It would still pelt him with rocks, but not right now. It assumed an offensive position too, it's muscles blazing with power.
The tension was thick in the air.
Thames spoke "Come at me, Four-Eyed Freak".
The creature promptly obliged, cutting through the tension in the air as it sped towards Thames.
Thames stood his ground, steady.
Then they clashed.
