Chapter 22 - Libertha De Hayes

Libertha forgot about the woman and her betrayal thaysbhebahd been concerned with as she searched with her eyes, frantically with worry where the cries came from as it didn't seem to have come from the crowd that had grown quiet.

She stared back behind her and saw the king, there was a sly smile that was slowly creeping on his lips.

There couldn't be no reason behind that. He hates her. She knows. He hates her more than anything and she had never for once questioned him on his reasons.

His wife sat by his side, his queen. She was silent, just like she has always been. She sat quietly beside him as if she didn't exist and as if she couldn't see the scene that was unfolding before her.

Behind them were a retinue of women. His concubines and women he forcefully took from their husbands because he found them attractive, sexy and beautiful to be fucked by his hard and always throbbing cock.

They were to be more than seven hundred of them. That were the ones she knew he added in less than the eleven years she became a demon executioner. She wasn't sure how many he has added in the few months she stopped coming to the palace.

But by the way they were all assembled behind him,she could tell that they were by far more than the number she had suspected. His assembly of women.

Libertha's eyes involuntarily drifted to the queen again and she noticed how she sat beside him with an unsettling stillness.

As Libertha's gaze lingered on the Queen's downcasr look, for a fleeting moment, she thought she saw a glimmer of desperation, a silent plea for help, or perhaps a warning.

Though sunken and lifeless, they seemed to hold a deep sadness and a resignation to her fate. Her stare was not one of malice or complicity, but of quiet despair. It was as if she was trapped in a prison of her own making, forced to endure the king's cruelty and debauchery.

Libertha's heart went out to the queen sensing that she was a victim. From the onset, she has always been a pawn in the king's game of power and manipulation.

She had always known since time immemorial but like everyone else, there had been nothing she could do to aid her nor even alienate her sufferings.

Libertha felt a surge of empathy for this woman who seemed to be suffering in silence. A deafening silence she couldn't save her from.

A chilling cry called her attention back from the queen and her gaze was focused on a man who seemed to hold something in his hands while walking towards a cauldron that was brewing on top of a fire she hadn't noticed before.

"My baby" she muttered to herself instinctively and got alert on perceiving danger all around her.

The cries she had heard before had seemingly stopped but she couldn't deny the feeling that her baby was what she had seen being wrapped in white clothing the man carried.

And since this was a wizard while the long had pardoned after she was to execute him for practicing sorcery and demoncraft, she couldn't bring herself to believe otherwise.

She turned to stare at the King and the fulfilled expression on her face when he noticed that she was staring at him was the confirmation she needed to know that it was truly her child that was being held in the white clothing. Her worst fears.

She struggled to break loose the chains from her arms but found out that they were too strong for her to,and the more she struggled with it,the more pains she wrought upon herself.

"Stop exercising your remaining strength demon executioner. You won't be able to free yourself from the chains not because you're not powerful enough to, but because you cannot be able to anymore" a soldier who stood not far away from where she was muttered to her while seeing her struggle.

She couldn't understand what he meant by his words but she could tell that he was not threatening her. His voice sounded like that of a person who felt pity for whom they had great admiration for.

A thought crossed her mind to ask him what he meant by that but she didn't fearing that he might loose his life in the process of trying to make her understand her situation.

She tried struggling for the fifth time to break loose on the shackles that binded her but discovered, like she had been told that she no longer possessed such powers.

She had been a very strong human before. She had unmatched powers that made people refer her sometimes as a superhuman, though most of them didn't know the reason why.

Even her height was as a result of that reason. Why was it that now her strength wasn't working anymore. And especially now that she needed it the most.. Especially now she had to save her son and the last surviving offspring she had.

She stared down at herself for a brief second to discover why she always got tired despite the strength she was trying to use up that didn't come at either of the times she tried.

She stared across her right shoulder and noticed her scar. It was the only scar she had gotten from the giant demon that had attacked once and made claim of her daughter. But she hadn't gotten the scar then. She had gotten it the first time she tried saving the woman's child in the tournament building she had been supposed to set on fire.

Sadly as she didn't want to recall, regret washed on her face on why she had done that in the first place.

If only she hadn't saved that child, her own daughter would have still been alive as the demon wouldn't have come for revenge. And if only she had reduced her demon executing job a little bit, she would have been able to protect her family and shield them from the evil eyes.

But now, even the woman she had lost her own daughter because of was among the first people to condemn her. Her condemnation of her with the eggs she has thrown had caused more people to throw food and sorry stuff at her. For what use was her efforts of saving her then.

As she became vulnerable which was unlike her and was almost bawling out her eyes, she noticed a hole in the scar.

It was odd because there was no hole supposed to be there. It was just a scar wound.

As she stared at it from where her eyes were without drooling them to catch a better glimpse, her eyes pulsated and she could see her skin very visibly as if she were using a magnifying glass to,even though she was just staring at them.

There was a purple liquid that was still seeping slowly into her body through the hole on her scar.

"Elixir!!!!" She screamed internally as the realization of the situation she was in dawned on her.
