Lilith moved before the words were even completely out of the mouth of the Red Prophet.
A streak of pure soul energy arced from her hand as she launched forward, her blade of energy crackling through the air toward the Red Prophet. He skipped backward, his rotting lips peeling into a wide, wild grin.
Before Lilith could close the distance, the infected surged forward like a living tide. They snarled and screeched, flinging themselves at her.
"Come now, Lilith." The Red Prophet cackled. "Is that it?"
Then they exploded.
The chain of rotting flesh and blood burst outward, forcing Lilith to leap back midair. As she landed, she whipped her hand through the air, summoning a curved dome of soul energy. It flared to life just in time to shield herself, Elias, and Valen from the concussive blasts.
The blast rocked her shield, pressure pounding against it in rhythmic bursts. Every time she reinforced it, another zombie threw itself against her defenses.
