Kael stayed in his stance, weapon still thrumming in his grip. He wouldn't let his guard drop. Not now. What if this was some kind of trick?
The Raider dusted himself off, grinning as if he hadn't just been moments away from losing the fight.
"That's the kind of strength we need." His bright blue eyes gleamed. "You're not just some miner who got lucky. You've got skill."
The leader gestured to his men, who had seemed on edge toward the end of the fight. They lowered their weapons.
This fight was over.
The blade disappeared from Kael's grasp, and the gem's pulse began to slow.
"We're not your enemies, Duskborne." The Raider took a step forward, extending a hand. "We want the same thing you do."
Kael hesitated. He wasn't sure if he trusted them. But he knew one thing for certain.
If they wanted to take the fight to the Royals…
Then maybe they could be useful.
