Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Second Dragon Ball

On the weekend, Bulma had a day off from school.

According to their Dragon Ball collection plan, John drove his motorcycle with Bulma to the suburbs north of West City.

John parked the motorcycle outside the mountain area and, armed with a machete, led Bulma into the mountains.

Since this mountain area was located in the outskirts of West City, people often came here for picnics during their days off. Therefore, the National Guard would occasionally clean up the area to ensure the safety of the citizens.

Bulma didn't think there would be any danger in the North Mountain, so she confidently held the Dragon Radar and walked ahead.

John followed behind her with the machete, protecting her safety.

Although Bulma had easily obtained the Dragon Ball in the manga, John couldn't be sure if the plot would change due to his presence.

"We're almost there; it should be nearby," Bulma said. She noticed John's tense expression as he held the machete.

"Don't be so nervous. There's no real danger. Look, we're safe right now, aren't we?" Bulma reassured him.

As Bulma's words fell, a rustling sound came from the bushes, and something was rapidly approaching them.

Hearing the sound, Bulma, who was already a bit of a scaredy-cat, immediately ran behind John.

"Is there a monster coming?" Bulma asked, trembling.

"It's nothing, probably just a wild animal," John replied.

The rustling sound grew louder, and a large wild boar burst out of the bushes, lowering its head to reveal its sharp tusks as it charged towards John.

Bulma was startled and suddenly felt that hiding behind John wasn't very safe, so she turned and hid behind a large tree.

John took a deep breath and prepared to strike the wild boar, but to his surprise, the boar didn't stop. It ran right past him and continued towards the distance.

As John let out a sigh of relief, a saber-toothed tiger leaped out of the bushes.

It was clear that the tiger had been chasing the wild boar, but when it saw John, its attention was immediately drawn to him.

The tiger opened its mouth, revealing long, sharp fangs that gleamed in the light. For a moment, John was even dazzled by the sight.

John's reflexes were quick, and he dodged the tiger's pounce with a swift move, then kicked it in the waist as it landed, sending it flying into a nearby tree.

The tiger got up from the ground, but it was clearly injured, as its gait was no longer as agile as before.

The tiger crouched down again, seemingly preparing for another attack, but John wasn't about to back down.

The tiger roared and turned to run into the bushes, escaping.

It was indeed running away, and Bulma, who had been cheering John on, was now upset and scolded him for being a coward.

John said, "Never mind, we need to hurry up and find the Dragon Ball. Let's check the radar to see how far we are from it."

Bulma looked at the radar and said, "The radar shows that the Dragon Ball is over there. Let's go."

She walked ahead through the bushes, and John quickly followed to ensure her safety.

After a while, John noticed that Bulma had stopped moving. He approached her and asked, "What's wrong?"

Bulma said, "Something's wrong. The Dragon Radar shows that the Dragon Ball is at this location, but why can't we see it?"

John looked at the Dragon Radar and saw that there were indeed two Dragon Balls flashing in their current position. One was their two-star Dragon Ball, and the other must be the new Dragon Ball. However, they couldn't see the Dragon Ball at this location.

John said, "Since it's not on the ground, it must be in a tree or underground. Wait here; I'll climb up the surrounding trees and take a look."

John quickly climbed several large trees nearby, but after over ten minutes, he returned empty-handed. "I checked the trees, but there's no Dragon Ball. It seems that the Dragon Ball must be underground," he said.

"Oh no! Do we have to dig a hole? How deep do we need to dig?" Bulma asked.

John thought for a moment and said, "The Dragon Ball couldn't have appeared underground out of nowhere. It must have fallen into a crevice or cave when it landed.

"This North Mountain has some streams, but they're not enough to erode the surface and form a cave. So, if the Dragon Ball is underground, it's highly likely due to a cave."

"Let's look around and see if there's a cave nearby." After saying this, John and Bulma began searching for a cave in the area.

Bulma said, "It looks like we need to improve the new Dragon Radar and combine it with our family's satellite detection system."

"That way, if this situation happens again in the future, we can use the satellite to scan the terrain and directly display the underground terrain on the radar screen."

John nodded in approval, "Bulma, you're the smartest girl I've ever met."

Hearing John's praise, Bulma couldn't help but laugh proudly, "Hahaha... You're not just saying that, are you? I'm the legend, you know."

As they chatted, they continued searching for a cave that might contain the Dragon Ball. Soon, on the other side of the mountain, John discovered a cave.

"Based on the direction of the cave's interior, the Dragon Ball should be inside if there are no surprises," John said, shining a flashlight into the cave.

"Do you think there might be ghosts or something inside?" Bulma asked, hiding behind John and looking at the dark cave with concern.

"How could there be ghosts in this world?" John said, but then he suddenly remembered that he was in the Dragon Ball world, where ghosts did exist. So, he quickly corrected himself, "Even if there are ghosts, they should be in hell, being punished by King Yama."

Bulma worriedly asked, "Are you sure they can't escape from hell?"

John immediately replied, "No, King Yama is very powerful. Ghosts can't escape. Don't worry."

Seeing Bulma's fearful expression, John kindly suggested, "Why don't you wait outside while I go in and get the Dragon Ball? I'll be quick."

"No, I'll go in with you," Bulma immediately refused. It was no joke; there were tigers and wild boars outside, and she, a weak girl, couldn't possibly stay out there alone.
