Chapter 98 - 086 Classic Scene—The Mastermind Strikes Again!

After dinner, Jane Carter posted a live stream preview while heading home.

The moment she arrived, she immediately launched her stream.

Live Stream Chat:

"Whoa, why is Jane suddenly so dedicated? Streaming in the afternoon?!"

"Yeah, this is unheard of!"

"Good thing I had notifications on, or I would've missed this!"

As one of DouStream's top content creators, Jane's stream exploded with viewers within minutes.

"Obviously!" Jane grinned. "I'm about to finish Deep Sea Trek! How could I not be excited?! I just can't wait!"

She quickly put on her VR motion suit and entered the game.

Instantly, her view shifted—she was back on the island she had built in Deep Sea Trek.

On her wristband, the countdown for the arrival of the Fireworks was still ticking:

1:12:32…

Live Stream Chat:

"Jane, are you sure you can complete this on your own?"

"It feels… almost too easy."

"I dunno, something about this seems off… The dev is tricky. You never know!"

"Impossible!" Jane waved her hand dismissively.

"I'm telling you—I must've triggered a hidden Easter egg! Just like how you can clear Silent Hill quickly by breaking the recorder, this must be something similar!"

Her confidence was contagious, and even her viewers started to believe it.

With an hour left, Jane didn't wander far. She stayed near the coastline, waiting for the Fireworks to arrive.

Night turned into day.

The final countdown began.

Jane hurried to the beach, eyes fixed on the sky.

As she waited, her gaze drifted to the mysterious alien structure nearby, its faint green glow pulsing softly.

Even after countless encounters, this alien building still fascinated and unsettled her.

Live Stream Chat:

"What do you guys think this alien structure is for?" Jane asked.

"No clue. Who can predict what the dev is thinking?"

"Could be an alien sanctuary?"

"Or maybe a prison for cosmic criminals?"

Despite endless speculation, no one had cracked its true purpose.

After all, no one had been able to enter it—no keys, no clues.

"Damn! I forgot to ask John about this!" Jane smacked her forehead.

She had rushed home to play and totally forgot to ask at lunch!

No time to dwell on that now—

She glanced at her wristband.

Less than one minute left.

She looked to the sky.

Countdown to Fireworks' Arrival:

15 seconds… 14… 13…

Viewers in the chat held their breath.

This was a historic moment in Deep Sea Trek!

Finally, her bracelet radio crackled—a voice came through:

"Survivor, we see you!"

—Captain Eli of the Fireworks.

This time, instead of a broadcast, it was direct radio communication.

Jane squinted at the sky, spotting a tiny black dot in the distance.

It grew larger as it descended.

Live Stream Chat:

"OMG, I SEE IT!"

"Fireworks is REAL!"

"Jane actually triggered an early ending!"

"We misjudged the dev. He actually gave players mercy!"

Excitement soared as viewers anticipated the arrival of real NPCs for the first time in a New World game.

"Survivor, we see you too!" Eli continued. "We're passing through the atmosphere now. Almost there!"

Then, his tone shifted:

"Wait… What's the deal with that structure next to you?"

Jane glanced at the alien building.

"Not sure. Seems to be something built by aliens."

"Hmm… Doesn't matter. Let's land first—"

Jane exhaled deeply.

For some reason, she felt nervous about meeting the Fireworks crew.

Even though she knew Eli was just an NPC, his voice sounded so natural.

He feels like a real person.

"Calm down. They're from the 25th century, I'm from the 21st—I'm basically their ancestor! Why should I be nervous?!"

Then—

BOOM.

A deep rumbling shook the island.

The ground trembled beneath her feet.

Live Stream Chat:

"WTF? EARTHQUAKE?!"

"Jane, LOOK BEHIND YOU!"

She turned—

And froze.

The alien structure was MOVING.

It was transforming.

Just like in Transformers, the once rectangular building was shifting, its shape morphing in ways beyond comprehension.

A black hole-like cavity formed in its center—dark, absorbing all light.

Then,

it aimed at the Fireworks.

Live Stream Chat:

"WAIT. Is that… a CANNON?!"

"NO WAY. THERE'S NO WAY."

"Jane, STOP THEM FROM LANDING!!!"

The Fireworks was now fully visible—a sleek, futuristic ship descending gracefully.

But Jane had no time to admire it.

She screamed into her wristband:

"FIREWORKS, ABORT LANDING! THAT STRUCTURE IS A CANNON—IT'S AIMED RIGHT AT YOU!!!"

Too late.

A high-pitched whine pierced the air.

The cannon charged—space itself twisted around its mouth.

An energy sphere formed, glowing like a miniature sun.

Live Stream Chat:

"HOLY SH*T, THAT LOOKS POWERFUL."

"Fireworks, GET OUT OF THERE!"

"THE DEV IS EVIL. PURE EVIL."

"REVERSE COURSE!" Eli's panicked voice crackled through the radio.

The Fireworks desperately tried to change direction.

But—

HUMMMMMM!!!

A blinding beam erupted from the cannon.

In an instant, the Fireworks was vaporized.

BOOM!

A massive explosion lit up the sky, smoke and debris raining down.

Jane stared, speechless.

Her bracelet lost signal.

A cold, robotic voice followed:

"Ultra-strong energy radiation detected. No life signs found on Fireworks."

Live Stream Chat:

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS."

"The ship called Fireworks… turned into fireworks. Dev, you MONSTER."

"WE WERE SO HYPED FOR NPCs AND HE DOES THIS?!"

"This is some classic DARK HUMOR."

Jane collapsed onto the sand, devastated.

"I WAITED SO LONG TO MEET THEM… AND THEY'RE GONE?! THIS DEV HAS NO HEART!!!"

Her viewersspammed the chat, both furious and in awe.

The dev had pulled off another brutal, unforgettable moment.

And just like that—

Another legendary gaming scene was born.
