If you're right, he should be in the Shadow Realm.
However, before Dark Wanda could respond, Valkyrie spoke up first.
Everyone's eyes followed the same line, their expressions shifting.
Because those shadow creatures originated from the Shadow Realm, it made perfect sense that he could summon them so effortlessly.
If they couldn't find and stop Gorr the God Butcher, it was likely that all of their problems would continue to escalate.
Not far away, Thor kicked away a fallen shadow creature and strode toward them, Korg following close behind.
"I need to handle something first."
Jane Foster, catching sight of Thor's red cape out of the corner of her eye, hesitated for a moment before quickly making her exit.
After all, their relationship had once been something more, and seeing each other again like this felt awkward. Rather than deal with it, it was easier to leave.
"These things are disgusting."
Thor grumbled as he reached the others. Distracted by the battle, he hadn't noticed Jane leaving. His focus remained on the writhing remains of the shadow creatures on the ground, their greenish-black ichor still seeping from their wounds, the stench making his nose wrinkle.
"What the hell happened to Asgard?"
Thor finally turned his gaze to Valkyrie, his eyes flickering between her and the ruined remnants of New Asgard. The town was devastated, its buildings reduced to rubble.
"Gorr the God Butcher invaded Asgard and brought shadow creatures from the Shadow Realm. We just finished fighting them off," Valkyrie explained, her voice tinged with frustration.
She took in the ruins around them, feeling a deep sense of loss. This was once a sanctuary, a home, a place that had drawn travelers from across the universe. Now, it was nothing but destruction. The contrast was unbearable.
"The God Butcher is exactly who we've been investigating," Korg added, his expression unusually serious.
A few days prior, while traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy, they had heard whispers of Gorr's campaign against the gods. His goal was clear—exterminate the divine. The slaughter was merciless. The fall of Asgard was just another step in his path.
"Gorr has set his sights on Asgard. That's not good," Valkyrie said grimly. The memories of their recent battle weighed on her heavily.
Even when they cut down the shadow creatures, they always returned from the Shadow Realm. But their fallen warriors—those lost Asgardians—would never rise again.
Her hatred for Gorr burned deeper than ever.
"You should check for yourself, see if you notice anything out of place."
Finn's words pulled them from their thoughts.
He remembered the way things had unfolded in the original timeline—Gorr's plan involved Thor's axe, Stormbreaker, and to get it, he kidnapped the children of Asgard.
But despite his ruthlessness, Gorr hadn't wanted to hurt them.
Perhaps because he once had a daughter, and something in him still clung to that connection.
"Oh, right. I almost forgot about you."
Thor turned to Finn, realizing he had seen him standing against Gorr earlier. But since he had arrived late, he hadn't actually witnessed their fight. He assumed it had only just begun.
"Thor, this is Finn—Wanda's boyfriend. He's powerful. If it weren't for him, we would have had a much harder time dealing with Gorr."
Valkyrie gave Finn a respectful nod as she introduced him.
Her eyes sparkled with admiration. Anyone who could hold their own against Gorr, even briefly, was someone worth recognizing.
"Nice to meet you, Finn. I'm Thor—one of the strongest Avengers, best warrior in Asgard."
Thor grinned and extended a hand.
"If I'm here, that guy Gorr won't be getting away."
"Thor, I'm glad to meet you in person."
Finn smiled and shook Thor's hand firmly before releasing it.
Seeing Thor up close was different from watching him in battle. He was taller than expected, broad-shouldered, with a strong, chiseled face. Despite his raw power, there was an undeniable warmth to him.
"Honestly, I think Wanda's the strongest Avenger."
Finn smirked.
Wanda's strength easily rivaled Thor's. Besides, she was his girlfriend—agreeing with Thor outright would only get him in trouble.
"Oh, sorry. It was dark—I didn't see you there."
Thor finally noticed Dark Wanda standing in the shadows and gave a sheepish laugh. He scratched his head before stepping forward with an easy grin.
"Wanda, long time no see. You're looking more stunning than ever."
Finn sighed, half amused, half exasperated. He reached out, tugging on Thor's red cape, and pointed to another figure nearby. "You're mistaken—that's the Wanda you know."
Thor's smile faltered as he turned to see another Scarlet Witch, her expression cold and unwavering. For a moment, he was visibly thrown.
His brain stalled.
There were two Wandas.
"…What the Hel is going on?"
For a second, his only explanation was some kind of duplication spell.
"My gods, two witches? Finn, are you into some weird stuff?"
Thor's brow furrowed, eyes narrowing at Finn in suspicion.
Finn nearly choked on his own breath. "Don't say weird things, Thor."
"Then what the hell is happening?"
Thor gestured between the two Wandas, looking thoroughly confused.
One Scarlet Witch was already formidable.
Two? That was a cataclysm waiting to happen.
Seeing his confusion, Finn clapped a hand on his shoulder. "It's complicated—I'll explain later."
Before they could continue, a streak of lightning tore through the sky. A burning smell filled the air as the shockwave rippled through the space around them.
Thor's head snapped up. His eyes locked onto the approaching figure, his expression shifting in surprise.
"Who is that?"
The shape became clearer.
A metal helmet. Asgardian armor. A crimson cape.
And in her hand—
"That's Mjolnir!"
Thor's eyes widened in disbelief.
How was it here?
With a powerful landing, Jane Foster stood before them, her breath heavy, her stance firm. The ground trembled beneath her feet.
"It's bad—the children are gone!"
Jane's voice was urgent, her eyes sharp as she turned to address the group.
"No way…"
Finn's stomach dropped.
Gorr had already made his move.
This bastard was always one step ahead.
Even in the original timeline, it had taken Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie—armed with Zeus's Thunderbolt—to stand a chance against him.
If they didn't act fast, things would only get worse.
"This situation just got a whole lot worse," Thor muttered, the weight of the moment settling in.
Mjolnir was suddenly the least of his concerns.
They needed to act. Now.
Valkyrie glanced between them, then barked out an order. "No time to waste—we regroup at the administrative center. Move!"
The group didn't hesitate.
They took off at full speed, urgency propelling them forward.
New Asgard's administrative center stood tall, its golden glow dimmed by the grim reality inside. The hall was crowded, filled with fearful murmurs and grief-stricken parents.
"My son was right there, and then he was gone!"
"We searched everywhere—there's no trace of them!"
Desperation hung thick in the air.
"Everyone, quiet down!"
Valkyrie's voice cut through the noise like a blade.
"We will find your children."
Thor stepped forward, his presence commanding.
"I swear on the honor of Asgard—I will bring them home."
