Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Dugu Bo

Chapter 89: Dugu Bo

The argument with Ning Rongrong was just a small incident in Dai Yao's life. Although he was indifferent to her behavior, he couldn't completely dismiss the threat she posed.

Sigh "If this girl tells Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo, based on their personalities, they might really come after me," Dai Yao thought as he lay on the couch, feeling helpless.

"Well, I've got reason on my side, and I haven't done anything to her. Could those two Title Douluo really kill me?" Once he thought it through, he felt more at ease.

After the competition, life returned to normal, and Dai Yao became a well-known figure at the Oakland Academy. He had also found a spot near a waterfall.

He had gotten used to the pressure of the waterfall while cultivating and was eager to claim this simulated environment. The original owner had not wanted to give it up, but once they realized it was Dai Yao, their attitude changed drastically, and they immediately handed it over to him.

They not only waived any fees but even seemed afraid he might refuse.

Dai Yao reluctantly accepted, convincing them to accept payment in return. However, unlike the waterfall near Zhu Zhuqing's training area, there was no cave here.

After getting the simulated environment, Dai Yao resumed his routine: eat, study, train, sleep.

Occasionally, he trained with the Oaklan battle team. His daily life was similar to his time at the Star Luo Royal Academy, though there were some differences.

Now, wherever Dai Yao went in Oakland Academy, he was the center of attention. The students, especially the girls, gazed at him with admiration, their eyes full of wonder. Every time this happened, Zhu Zhuqing was by his side.

Back when he was at the Star Luo Royal Academy, he had been a despised figure, and even his name was not worth mentioning. But now, no one at Oakland Academy was more popular than him.

One night, beneath the waterfall, Dai Yao exhaled a deep breath, stood up, and jumped out of the waterfall. He clenched his fists, feeling the soul power surging through his meridians with excitement.

"Not bad. At this rate, in just over ten days, I'll break through level 24 of soul power!" he thought happily.

Then, his expression changed. He frowned, recalling his duel with Dai Yaming. Due to lack of combat experience, he had been forced to rely on soul techniques in battle. He made a firm decision: "No, when I was in the Star Luo Empire, my hands were tied and I couldn't sharpen my fighting skills. But now that I'm in Tiandou, there are no such restrictions. I have to focus on improving my combat skills!"

For soul masters, the best place to practice fighting skills was, of course, the Soul Fighting Arena.

Dai Yao looked up. Not far in the distance, there was a tall building, brightly lit. That was the Tiandou Soul Fighting Arena, one of the largest in the Tiandou Empire, gathering countless soul masters. Unlike Dai Yao, many soul masters at his level had no age restrictions, and many were still stuck at level 20 but had developed unique skills with age.

Dai Yao clenched his fists. He was eager to witness the skills of those soul masters. However, since his soul power was already at the peak of a Great Soul Master, normal soul masters would be no match for him. Moreover, his second soul ring was a thousand-year-old one, making his abilities too obvious.

Thus, he decided not to use any soul techniques, relying only on his self-created techniques to fight those Great Soul Masters.

Of course, training combat skills would slow the pace of his soul power cultivation.

The surroundings were quiet, with the evening breeze rustling through the trees, and the sound of insects in the distance.

Dai Yao felt quite relaxed, enjoying the breeze despite his wet clothes.

Suddenly, his skin prickled, and an alarm went off in his mind. His expression hardened, and he immediately assumed a battle stance, calling out, "Who's there?"

"Oh? Not bad. You actually noticed my presence. How interesting," came a hoarse voice from all directions, making the leaves in the trees rustle.

Dai Yao was startled. The voice made his heart race as though it were being squeezed by a hand, and cold sweat formed on his forehead.

"This is definitely not an enemy I can handle! Even Cardinal Ferdinand didn't put this much pressure on me! Could it be a Title Douluo?!"

His pupils contracted, his heartbeat momentarily slowing.

"Could it be that the two Title Douluos from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School are here to take revenge for Ning Rongrong?" Dai Yao thought bitterly.

Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his neck. His mind went blank, his eyes rolled back, and his body went limp, falling to the ground.

...

A moment later, Zhu Zhuqing finished her training and returned to Dai Yao's waterfall area. Finding it empty, she was immediately suspicious. She went into the house, but it was still empty. Her heart skipped a beat, and she grew anxious.

"Don't panic. Maybe he's just busy with something," she tried to reassure herself.

As time passed, and the night slowly turned to dawn, Dai Yao still had not returned.

Zhu Zhuqing, unable to sleep, felt her lips tremble and saw bloodshot eyes staring back at her in the mirror. She realized something was terribly wrong. Dai Yao had to have been in danger!

...

In the darkness, Dai Yao gradually regained consciousness. He dared not move, feeling the coldness of the ground beneath him, and the air smelled faintly metallic. He realized this was no longer Oakland Academy.

He activated his soul power, steadying his breath and maintaining his heart rate. He kept his eyes closed, focusing all his energy on his hearing.

Suddenly, a raspy voice echoed through the cave. "Oh, you've woken up? You're a sharp one, despite your young age."

Dai Yao recognized the voice and opened his eyes, looking toward the source. The moonlight shone outside the cave, and standing at the entrance was a person with their back to him.

As his eyes adjusted to the light, Dai Yao could finally make out the figure. The person was dressed in dark green clothes, their white hair hanging down to their waist. Standing in the moonlight, their silhouette looked a little forlorn.

"May I ask why you brought me here, senior?" Dai Yao cautiously asked, not knowing the person's identity.

The person turned around, and Dai Yao could now clearly see their face. The person's face was thin and long, their eyes a venomous shade of green, like a serpent's. In the darkness, their eyes glowed with a faint green light.

Dai Yao froze. He immediately recognized the person's identity — it was none other than the "Green Scale Douluo," Dugu Bo, the grandfather of Dugu Yan!

Seeing Dai Yao's reaction, Dugu Bo glanced at him, his voice rough as he spoke, "You know me?"

"Green Scale Douluo, who doesn't know you?" Dai Yao responded, his voice tight with tension. Facing a Title Douluo, who wouldn't be afraid? He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, got to his feet, and cupped his hands.

He wasn't sure why Dugu Bo had brought him here, but he was certain that being taken away in the middle of the night couldn't be for anything good!

Regaining his composure, Dai Yao subtly shifted his soul power to his second martial soul. If Dugu Bo truly meant him harm, his second martial soul might be his only chance of survival.

Although Dai Yao knew his soul power at over level 20 was almost insignificant compared to a Title Douluo, he couldn't just give up without a fight.

Dugu Bo, noticing Dai Yao's subtle movements, wasn't concerned. His green eyes flickered as he asked, "I hear you're immune to my granddaughter's poison?"

At those words, Dai Yao's heart tightened. He looked up at Dugu Bo's face, and his mind raced. Connecting the dots to the original story, he immediately understood why Dugu Bo had brought him here.
