They went outside and Zayn stood by the side with ash also by the side and Selene was standing in the middle like the judge. The two mentally and emotionally fight each other invisibly one step away from fighting each other. She walked to stand more in the middle where they would notice her which they both undeniably did and she cleared her throat. The eyes Ash was using to stare at her right now would cut off her head but she shook it off there was more pressing matters to discuss than fighting over inconsequential matters.
"Ash?" She called "there are more things to fight over and not this. A war is going on, more people to save are out there where we are supposed to be in our way helping them and not here fighting!"
Ash moved his leg but zayn didn't move or do anything. He felt weak, so weak after pushing ash for a reason he couldn't pinpoint. He felt like a great force was on his right hand and his head just acted on his emotion. Anger. And that was it.
He looked around the desolate, this was definitely a wasteland. What more could be coming here? What has he done and where was he? How can he go back? All these questions swirled in his head and he felt himself go dizzy remembering he hadn't eaten anything.
Even before going to the library he didn't eat for more than a day and yet he was standing. He stumbled where he stood, black dots coating his sights. He knew the next thing but before that he held onto air like he needed support but he got nothing leaving him falling to his knees.
"Are you okay?" Selene asked to come to stand in front of him but he only groaned in pain, she touched his forehead with the back of her hand and withdrew it back glancing back at ash with an unreadable gaze and stepped back from zayn like she knew what was coming.
"What's going on?" Ash more to walk to zayn but Selene pulled him pack shaking her and this made ash frustrated "can you just talk"
"He can't control it" she stepped back "it's going to cause destruction and a lot of it" she made a safe space between she and zayn. Although sge was always locked and confined, she knew things maybe it was the boredom but she knew he was going under too much surge of mana and these are one of the side effects. He can't control it.
"What?" Ash asked following after her "he can't control what Selene?, gosh you are making—"
"His mana! He couldn't control and I don't know what's happening but I think that's it. My theory may be right and it may not be. Things like this are unpredictable I just—"
An ear piercing cry was heard from the tent and a loud noise from a distance. Ash and Selene simultaneously stared at each other before running to the tent where they found the other people that were missing however before they could hasten up their steps to find them. One of the wounded soldiers came running to them, wounds and blood dripping down his body and he slumped when he got to them.
"They…they are…are co…ming ru…n" he garbled mumbling the words but they heard him. Selene knelt down and smiled at the soldier before closing her eyes and a bright light came out from her palm striking the soldier and he fell limply to the ground.
There was no hope for him, he has used a lot of mana for his power and it has depleted not just his inner organs but his physical self and strength, he would eventually die however it was better he died a good one and be able to be taken back than to die in the war grounds where fire would burn his body.
"Let's go"Ash said, sprinting away but Selene halts clearly remembering Zayn and she goes back to where he was. With a few words she muttered under her breath they materialized right behind ash who was shouting at his soldiers to retreat. Right at the front was a gremlins, a damn gremlin.
Where the hell did it sprout from? The humans were using machinery and gremlins are all growing from the ground like plants fighting everyone around them including their soldiers. That creature was summoned but who would and can summon it.
Ash was lost, every little attempt to reach and save his soldiers became futile, he shouted at them to retreat but it felt like they weren't listening. He closed his eyes, breathing out before raising his hands in the air looking up to the sky and a large gust of wind swirled in the air and around him, whipping his clothes to the side.
The harsh wind threw everything around him away, the gremlins howling, the machineries and the humans accompanied them before a bright light which he knew far too much the owner emerged from his back and everything was sucked into the light. With that he fell to his knees breathing so hard that a loud thud came and Selene came running to his aid.
He pushed her hand away slightly and stood up but he swayed "you are not okay ash, we need to leave" she looked around but spotted no one "we need to leave before any more strange creatures come again"
"Where are the soldiers?" he whispered, the obvious weakness in his voice "I sucked them up" she answered going to lift the now unconscious zayn.
