Chapter 3 - May

Never before had Reon truly been by himself. Not in the sense of people not being around him, well that as well, but never had he been without his family there to support him.

When a royal reached the age of 15, it was customary that they would branch out on their own for a year. After the year was over they were allowed to return home, and tell their family of their year long journey away, or they could choose to return after a longer period, usually 3 to 4 years, or they could simply never return.

This was the transitional period where they would become true adults, able to fend for themselves; their own Journey of exploration.

It had only been a week so far since he left the Island Kingdom of Valt, coming to this strange continent, but he was already starting to miss his mother, uncle, younger siblings, and grandfather.

Still, that was not going to change his plan, "Before I return home, I will become a Great Warrior on this continent!" Reon exclaimed.

Before that though, the boy would need to find some food and shelter. His stomach growling incredulously, from which Reon's cheeks turned light red.

Walking through the forest, he was surprised to find a beautiful tall tree whose blue leaves glowed ever so slightly. Conveniently there were some red fruits hanging from the tall tree.

Leaping a great bound of 10 feet he jumped onto the tree and started climbing it until he reached the apple like fruit, grabbing one and eating it quickly.

"Hmmm, it's so sweet!" Reon added.

After grabbing a few more fruits, he dropped to the ground, before finishing his snack.

"Thank you." Reon bowed to the tree.

He continued his journey's march, until he caught a smell of smoke in the air.

Charming him, the smell caused him to drool.

"Meat!" yelled Reon, before running towards the smell.

At a small campfire in the woods, a blonde haired man sat stoking a fire that was cooking a creature that looked like a rabbit. He turned immediately when he heard the sound of something approaching him.

"Crap, did I attract a beast?" he thought to himself.

With an annoyed look on his face he looked at a watch-like device on his wrist, clicking a button on the device that made it light up with blue light. He twisted the face of the watch until it showed the symbol he was looking for, then he clicked another button on it.

Slowly the man appeared to phase out of existence, becoming increasingly transparent, until he could no longer be seen by the naked eye.

Grabbing a knife from his belt, the man got ready to attack.

A few seconds later Reon appeared almost drooling on himself running excitedly towards the campfire.

Reon immediately ran up to where the invisible man was now standing, putting his hands together he bowed his head lower than ever. Reon asked with a bright smile, "Sir, may I please ask you if you could kindly share some of your food with me!"

Sgt. Hope, codename Icarus, was shocked.
