After snapping out of his trance, still wearing that goofy look, Kai brushed his knuckles gently along her cheek. He loved how her tender skin felt under his touch. "Love, how about I take you somewhere private? Only you and I will be there."
Ren tilted her head, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. "But we have to leave for Alvonia tomorrow…"
"We'll be back before then," he murmured, a peaceful glint lighting his gaze.
"So, we go wherever you want," she whispered, a soft smile curving her lips as she lifted her hands to hold him.
Kai's heart swelled. She hadn't asked where just trusted him. Even after everything, even after his cruel mistakes, she'd forgiven him. And that undid him more than any punishment ever could.
Kai conjured a portal and swept her into his arms. In the blink of an eye, they crossed through and emerged on the other side.
