Chapter 3 - THE INVESTIGATION

UNIVERSITY A MEDICAL CENTER.

"What are you doing here?"

Hans asked as soon as his eyes caught the expression on the face of someone he knew very well who was suddenly in the hospital even though they had not promised. However, looking at the man's face who was also shocked looking at him, Hans knew this was just a mere coincidence. The question was why is he here?

"If I'm not mistaken, you are not working here, Doctor Miles."

Miles who was wearing normal clothes at the time and not wearing a doctor's clothes as always, composed himself before answering. He knows someone like Hans will find anything suspicious in his eyes in any situation, no matter who. So he needed to quickly explain it so that he could get out of this 'suspicion' radar.

"I'm sure our purpose here is the same. Emma… She cares about this girl a lot. So I just want to find out."

Hans let down his guard instantly after hearing that because Miles had no motive to deceive him. Besides, Miles and Emma are also close to each other. The proof is, Emma always calls Miles first for anything especially when it's urgent. As a family, her little brother, he didn't like that fact of course, but at least he knows Miles is harmless.

"Where is she?"

Seeing Miles who seemed to want to leave, Hans knew this person already met the girl. Too lazy to ask the hospital staff so he decided to take advantage of this coincidence.

Knowing very well Hans' temperament is, Miles didn't object instead he happily became a guide.

"Follow me."

Beep... Beep... Beep...

The sound of the hospital machine connected to the little girl's body who was still in a coma could clearly be heard in their ears at this time even though they were only looking from outside through the room's glass.

"Aveny Hansen, her nickname is Eve, 22 years old, the only child of Isaac Hansen, CEO of Pro-Play Corporation. She was born weak, premature and was later diagnosed with heart complications when she was in middle school. Since then, the hospital has become her first home. She never set foot in the outside world again after that. The only people who interacted with her were doctors, nurses, patients, her father and,"

"Emma." Hans said the name himself as he looked at the motionless body without blinking. I don't know what he was thinking at that moment even Miles didn't know. Only his silence really made the atmosphere heavier.

"Looks like she had a rough life at a very young age." I don't know why he said this when he was never a person who empathy or sympathy with someone else if they didn't have any impact on their lives.

"About Isaac Hansen, he got married early and his wife died 3 years after giving birth because of a car accident. He never married or dated anyone else after that. His life was just about his career and Aveny's health. Nothing suspicious at all. He also had no criminal record or had been involved in anything that bothered him or anyone else. Everyone who met him only praised him for his good personality."

"What about Emma? " Based on previous conversations, Hans remembers they said Emma had a special feeling for Isaac.

"It's just a one-sided feeling from her. She told me about it."

"And Isaac knows about that?"

Hans didn't see it but Miles held his hand quite tightly at the time.

"I believe he is but he rejected her feeling. And she said she never thought he would accept her confession after all."

"Tch, who does he think he is. Too great for my sister? Emma too, didn't she know that there are other people in this world who are much better to choose Why she wasting her energy with people who clearly don't care." Hans sighed angrily remembering his sister who chose to live a life of demanding love from those who didn't want it. Although, he realized its not like he can do anything about his sister's love life even if he knew all these facts from the beginning. But he can't help thinking that Emma, his precious elder sister, worthy to experience this cruel rejection.

Miles just stood there even though he knew that Hans was watching him. Maybe trying to find out what was on his mind at the moment.

"Do you want to come in?" Miles asked.

Of course, this matter needed to get permission from the hospital and also the girl's father, but Miles knew very well who Hans Anderson was. This person would do anything according to his thoughts as long as he was not satisfied, and he would never allow any room for doubt in any matter even if the possibility was only 0.01 percent. The proof was, he was here because he wanted to investigate Emma's death, even though it was clear that this girl was incapable of doing anything that could raise suspicion. So, as usual, he and the others in the organization on need to deal with the afterwards and they are always ready to do that.

"There's no need for that."

Miles was clearly shocked to hear this. Hans was not someone who would let something slide like this. So what made this change happen? Did Emma's death make this person a little softer?

"I trust you for this." Hans patted Miles on the shoulder once. "I need to go now. There are many more things I need to take care of. I need to go through Emma's belongings one by one and think what I need to do with them."

Hans walked away.

"Hey Hans." Miles changed the tone of his voice now. To tell Hans that he was speaking as a brother. After all they had known each other since they were little.

Hans turned around after hearing his name called.

"Emma's passing really came as a shock to everyone. We are all going to miss her that for sure and she will always be in all of our hearts. So don't push yourself too hard. She wouldn't like it, you know."

Hans smiled.

"You should take the advice for yourself. Between us, even strangers can see that your situation is much worse than mine." Hans then walked away without turning around.

Miles was a little stunned before seeing himself reflected in the glass wall. His tired face with dark eye bags looked worse because he hadn't shaved, his hair was messy and uncombed, his clothes were wrinkled here and there because he hadn't ironed, clearly looking pathetic even in his own opinion.

Miles can't help but chuckle a little.

"Maybe this is the reason why he let this one go."

EMPIRE SUITES (HOTEL UNDER ANDERSON GROUP)

The Penthouse.

"Ugh!"

Hans snorted a little while resting his back on the sofa that was right in the middle of his living room. After running back and forth, this was the first time he had truly let go of his tiredness. He didn't even bother to turn on the lights because of the outside light that shone faintly from outside the window glass.

This is one of the reasons why he loves being in a high place because he can clearly see the light coming from the sky and also from below comes from the surrounding buildings. Somehow, this calm him.

Although, his rest is only for a moment. This penthouse that he rarely sits in as he always sleeps at the headquarters for whatever reason only has the sofa as furniture. The rooms here are also empty without anything. The kitchen only houses a refrigerator with only water in it. He only comes here a few times when he feels like it, and he can always ask someone to prepare him food and clothes. This is his hotel after all.

But right now,

His eyes began to look around the room which is now full of Emma's belongings. The heavy breath he was holding was slowly released.

"Let's gets started now." He convinced himself. After all, it's not like he can sleep. Since Emma left, he hasn't had a single day of sound sleep. In fact, he can't even remember the last time he lay down. So, instead of wasting time, it's better for him to do something useful.

Hans got up and finally pressed the light switch to brighten the atmosphere. He then started standing in front of one of the many boxes there. He opened it and inspected everything inside one by one carefully. Every now and then he smiled looking at the pictures that Emma kept where there is always her next to her.

Looking to one corner, it seemed that Emma's Desktop PC that caught his attention when he was at his sister's workplace was already neatly placed there on the table. There were also laptops, tablet PCs, and also her smartphones neatly arranged by his employees.

Leaving what he was doing, he walked towards the PC's Desktop and started turning it on. Hoping that his force to shut down the PC before did not damage anything. Thankfully, nothing seems to be damaged and the PC opened well. But, the first obstacle appeared.

PASSWORD

Hans scratched his head which was not itchy. He can just wait for tomorrow to call one of his hackers to open this, but his heart was impatient. Knowing Emma, she won't let the password lie around, easy to find, but she also someone who is so simple.

He tried her birthday first.

THE PASSWORD IS INCORRECT. TRY AGAIN.

"Hmm..."

'You know brother, your name was given by this pretty sister of yours. So remember well to be proud of it because I'm proud of that fact.'

Suddenly, a faint memory from the past came to his mind.

"I don't think so..." He doubted it, but still he pressed his own name.

WELCOME EMMA ANDERSON

Hans laughed a little at this unexpected things, but somehow his heart felt very warm.

Opening one by one, the folders with Hans's face becoming serious each time. Nothing suspicious in particular, but he can sense that his sister is working too hard even though she knows she is not feeling well.

"The mafia underworld?" He clicked on this folder right away and scan everything with his eyes.

"This is what she is working on her last day, right?"
