Dream Come True Sesame Bun, a name that sounds impressive, but in reality, it's no different from minced meat baked buns.
The reason behind this name is because of a legend.
It's said that Empress Dowager Cixi once had a dream one night, where she ate a delicious bun stuffed with minced meat. Coincidentally, the next morning, the Empress Dowager was served the exact bun from her dream. Delighted, she remarked that the bun was delicious and fulfilled her dream. She rewarded the Imperial Kitchen's chef responsible for the bun with 20 taels of silver and an official position.
Since this dish fulfilled Empress Dowager Cixi's dream, it was called Dream Come True Sesame Bun.
Zheng Siyuan mentioned this bun to Qin Huai because he discovered that Qin Huai could make Five Fillings Bun. Five Fillings Bun is a famous snack from Qianlong's visit to Jiangnan. Zheng Siyuan then took the opportunity to mention another famous royal snack endorsed by a spokesperson.
