After bidding farewell to his mentor Constant, Lette slowly approached the inner side of the gates of the Pope Palace.
He gently pushed open the door, and the fully armed Vanessa, along with the watchful Galado, stood beneath the layers of steps.
It's unclear who issued the order, but the area around the Pope Palace had been completely cleared, and even the nearby Red Robed Holy Hall was empty.
Lette looked down at them from a high vantage point, revealing a smile.
"Vanessa, I've come to kill you."
"It should be you who disappears."
Lette walked down the stairs, asking with a faint smile, "According to your agreement with those Truth Remnants, you were supposed to assassinate the Pope."
"I was waiting for you."
Vanessa placed one hand on the hilt of the longsword at her waist: "Those fools have no understanding of the real issue.
I never intended to assassinate the Pope, nor to overthrow the Church.
From the beginning to the end, the one I wanted to eliminate was only you."
