Chapter 73 - Breaking Point Part 1

Two unknown figures are standing atop a cliff that looks down on a lovely city. As the thunderclouds dim the sunlight, the two figures sit there in glee, looking down on the people below.

One of the figures snaps his fingers, and thunder is heard instantaneously. The other figure smiles as he continues to look down. "Look how peaceful everyone is, just going about their day. Don't they know that in conditions like these, lightning can strike at any moment?" He says in a menacing tone.

Snapping his fingers, a lightning bolt jolts into traffic, causing a chaotic crash that throws a random wrench into the once peaceful day.

The two laugh, and the big guy claps his hands, repeatedly setting off the thunder. Then, the big guy gets a phone call. "Hey, boss," he casually says. Listening to the receiver, the big guy smiles and hangs up.

"Good news. We got work to do." The big guy says.

"Love to hear it." The other guy says, snapping his fingers and destroying a boat.

"It's the Diablo." The big guy says with a smirk.

The guy's eyes get wide, and he slowly stands to his feet. "That's not good news. It's great news! We get to take out the Diablo! After this, we will be top dogs in the organization. No, the world. We will be untouchable!" He shouts, throwing his arms out and causing several jolts of lightning to strike the ground, causing more chaos in the background.

He takes a deep breath and asks, "You got a location yet?"

"Just got it. Let's roll." The big guy says, and the two disappear within a bolt of lightning.

Cordayl and Éclair are walking through the beautiful castle of the royal sister from season 1. She happily gives them a tour of the grounds, showing Éclair around.

Éclair loves the fancy art and exotic decoration of each room she enters. Éclair's favorite place is the garden, though. She runs around and plays in all the beautiful shrubbery and flowers, enjoying the fountain as splashes around.

"Éclair, that's not for swimming!" Cordayl shouts.

"Ohh Cordayl, don't be such a stiff. Part of being a princess is getting to do whatever you want. I've only been with her half a day, and she's halfway there." The girl smiles.

Cordayl lets out a nervous chuckle at the sound of that. "Thanks again for doing this for me. I know I sprung up out of nowhere wanting a huge favor, but trust me, I wouldn't ask if I didn't need it. She needs it. I can't imagine how long Èclair has been alone, but I know the feeling, and she shouldn't have to live with it." Cordayl says.

The girl rubs Cordayl's face. "Anything for you, Cordayl."

Éclair sees the sister all up in Cordayl's face and slowly, clouds start to roll in as her jealousy rises.

"So, what do you intend to do after you leave?" the girl asks, legs on Cordayl.

"I don't know yet. Right now, I'm just walking East. I figured I'd either see the end of the world or end up where I started."

"That sounds… like good exercise." The girl comments. "Well, do you need any money for your travels?"

"Nah, I'm fine. I couldn't ask you for anything else after you agreed to take care of Éclair for me."

"Is there anything else you would like from me?" the girl asks teasingly.

"Nope. I'm very thankful." Cordayl says.

"Well, can I ask you for something?" She says.

"Anything. I am in your debt." Cordayl responds.

"Marry me." She states.

"I'm not husband material." Cordayl wriggles out of the engagement.

"Make me a mother then." She tries to bargain.

"I'd have to make you my wife first," Cordayl states.

The girl sighs in frustration, "Well, how about a kiss then?"

Cordayl thinks about it and decides that after the big request he just made, a kiss is the least he can do for her. "Okay, but on the cheek."

The girl smiles joyfully, ignoring the cheek part, and instantly starts making out with Cordayl. Cordayl is initially taken aback, but the girl is an excellent kisser.

Éclair watches the whole thing with a dropped jaw. Jealousy at its peak, she storms out of the garden and the castle.

Cordayl finally pulls away from the girl, "Damn, that was more than I expected."

The girl wipes her lips. "It was less than I expected, but it'll do for now, " she says with a smile.

Cordayl looks up at the sky and sees a very glum day and streaks of constant lightning flashing.

"Did you see where Éclair went?" Cordayl ask.

"I was a little occupied, but last I saw her, she was roaming through the flowers, " the girl says, standing to help Cordayl find her.

They look through the garden, and their search comes up empty.

The two decide to look through the maze of the castle, but the two still can't find Éclair. Cordayl asks the girl to take him to a balcony.

Seeing the open sky, Cordayl surveys the air and notices that while the whole sky may be gray, the streaks of lightning seem to be concentrated over a particular area. Assuming that must be where Eclair is, Cordayl decides to get her.

"I'll come with you, " the girl says, to which Cordayl gives no contest. As they are about to exit the castle, the girl's twin brother intercepts them.

"Ahh Cordayl, what an unpleasant sight. I would love to kick your ass, but my father has some business with me and my sister. If you don't mind." The brother states, looking at his sister.

The sister hesitates but Cordayl makes her decision easy. "Take care of your business. I'll go grab Éclair and bring her back here."

"As soon as I am finished, I will join you in your search," the sister promises.

"This might take a while. Come, the demon can take care of himself. Goodbye, Diablo," the brother says, urging his sister along.

Cordayl notices how badly the brother refuses to let his sister join him and notices the white gloves on his hands, which weren't there the first time they met.

Cordayl's jaw clenches as he knows what may come soon but pushes the thought away. Éclair is his priority.

Eclair is stomping around the castle, causing thunder to sound with each step she takes.

Finally walking out of the castle walls, she stomps through the forest, not caring where she is going. She sees an old tree house and climbs up to inspect it.

The door is still intact, but the inside is all mossy and torn. Éclair kicks at new branches that have grown and broken through the wooden floor.

She continues her journey around the tiny treehouse and stumbles upon an old, dirty stuffed squirrel.

Éclair picks the stuffed animal up and brushes it off. Rubbing the dark marble eyes clean of the dust, she smiles, seeing the gleam return to them.

"Cute. Can I have it?" A man says, appearing out of nowhere.

Éclair jumps in fright, backing away from the man. She clutches the squirrel tight, only to back into the big guy.

The big guy looks down at her. "That really wasn't a question." He says, trying to take the stuffed animal away from Éclair.

Éclair refuses to let go, and the big guy picks her up in the air as easily as a pillow. He laughs as he watches Éclair fight to keep hold of the stuffed animal. "If you don't let go, you'll rip it in half."

"And if you rip my stuffed animal in half, you'll get the same treatment." The guy threatens, now right behind her. Éclair's eyes grow in fear as she stares into the eyes of this killer.

"Touch her, and I promise you'll lose more than your hand," Cordayl says from behind.

The man turns his attention to Cordayl, a spark of light flashing through his eyes.

The big guy drops the squirrel and Éclair on the ground. Éclair quickly runs to Cordayl, and he squats down to check on her. "You okay?" he asks.

Éclair nods her head and hugs Cordayl. Cordayl hugs her back and tells her to stand in the back while he handles this.

The two guys ignore Éclair as she runs around them. "Allow me to introduce us. This is Mr. Boom, and I'm known as Streak. Pleasure to meet you, Diablo."

"Streak? Like doodoo streak?" Cordayl ask. Eclair stifles a laugh behind the two, making Cordayl smirk as well.

Streak doesn't appreciate the remark, and Mr. Boom growls.

"No offense. I just thought the high-ranking Thunder and the Lightning duo would have cooler names than the ones they just announced to me, is all." Cordayl states.

"Thunder and lightning duo? So you know who we are?" Mr. Boom asks.

"Only through profile. I had a meeting with one of your higher-ups a month ago. He was less than willing to share the info he had on your organization, but he spat it out eventually. Info on you two were just some of the stuff he had on file."

"Interesting. Well, what good is all the information in the world to a dead man?"

"See, you talk cool! Now, you just have to find a name that matches. Like Mr. Boom." Cordayl says. "On second thought, that name is kind of trash too."

Mr. Boom is tired of the jokes and jumps in to smash Cordayl's face. His punch results in a big, thunderous boom that blows the front off of the treehouse.

Cordayl is at the bottom of the tree, though, undamaged. "You mis-" but before he can finish, Streak is there in the blink of an eye, fist aimed right his face.

Cordayl barely dodges the attack, and Cordayl finds himself on the defensive due to Streak's lightning-fast attacks.

Mr. Boom jumps down and joins in on the attack. Cordayl is defending himself as best he can, getting into the groove, and learning their attack patterns. Cordayl manages to land a kick on Streak, which sends him away.

Mr. Boom throws a punch, which Cordayl catches in his palm, but the unexpected thunder of the blow sends Cordayl rolling away. Cordayl quickly stands up as Streak comes stomping down, and the fight continues.

The three disengage and face off. Suddenly, Cordayl's eyes shift to something behind Mr. Boom.

Éclair is standing behind Mr. Boom with an angry expression on her cute face. Mr. Boom turns around and laughs at the little girl. "Better go back upstairs if you know what's good for you, kid."

Éclair takes a step forward, and a tremor is felt throughout the forest. Mr. Boom takes this as a challenge, and with a grimace, he gives Éclair his full attention.

Cordayl moves to intervene, but Streak jumps in, attacking Cordayl a lot fiercer and faster than before. Cordayl sees Mr. Boom walking up on Éclair, but he can't do anything as Streak refuses to let up, getting more and more hits on Cordayl.

"You're so worried about that little girl that you aren't even fighting the same. Let me help you focus." Streak says. With a blink of an eye, he is behind Cordayl with a hand on his shoulder.

A lightning bolt hits them and teleports them away from Éclair and Mr. Boom.

Cordayl watches in fear as he feels his body being pulled away from the area. "Hang on, Éclair. I'll be right back!"

Hitting a new location, Cordayl throws an elbow at Streak's face. Streak moves and reappears in front of Cordayl. He smirks, but when he feels the blood run down his nose, he smiles.

"You're faster than I thought you would be," Streak says as he and Cordayl circle each other.

"Or, you just aren't as fast as you think you are." Cordayl retorts.

"Yeah, yeah. Hope you're ready. I'm bout to light your ass up." Streak smiles as he dives in to fight Cordayl.
