Lyriana thought, I wonder why he's asking so many questions all of a sudden. She said, "Forgive me, Young Master, but might I inquire as to why you ask?"
Draven said, "I'm just asking. I don't think I really have any kind of reason. So, how old are you?"
"I'm 131 years old, Young Master," Lyriana said.
Draven thought, 131? I guess it's not that surprising. I didn't even think she would tell. I thought she was going to start talking shit about how you never ask a woman her age.
Draven said, "So, why do you want to work as my personal maid?"Lyriana was quiet. Both of them continued walking down the hallway. She said, "Young Master—" but was cut off by Draven.
"It's fine if you don't want to talk about it," Draven said, thinking, I was just asking. I don't really care anyway. They continued walking in silence.
The scene changed, and we saw both of them entering the dining room where Draven's mom and dad were sitting and eating, and Aldric was standing in the corner.
Draven, seeing him, thought, Why the hell is that bastard here? As he sat down, his mom said, "Ah, honey, I see you've chosen Lyriana and dismissed Aldric. I had hoped you'd consider both before deciding, but I suppose your mind is made up." Draven thought, I guess Mom did send them after all. He said, "Yeah."
His mom said, "You don't like him?"
Draven, eating, said, "I guess."
His mom said, "That's fine. I didn't assign him to be your friend. What about taking him as a guard instead?"
Draven swallowed and said, "Mom, I don't think I need a guard. I'm capable of protecting myself, and he's not even that strong."
Aldric, standing in the corner, hearing what he said, thought, I'm not strong? Damn brat, how dare you consider me whack when I was clearly holding back!
Draven's father said, "Son, even the weakest guard can be a shield in the right moment. It's better to have someone than no one at all."
Draven, eating, said, "Yeah, I guess so." He turned towards Aldric standing in the corner and said, "Hey, I guess you're gonna be my guard from now on."
Outwardly bowing down, Aldric said, "It would be an honor, Your Highness. No harm shall come to you while I stand," but inwardly he thought, Damn brat, why do you sound reluctant, like you're being forced?
