Winter knew she could rely on Mrs. Brooke and Kalix's guards, so when he assured her of their safety, she didn't press the topic further.
"But what about the problem that's bothering you?" She asked, seizing his attention and pulling it back to her.
Kalix feigned innocence, trying to steer her away from the conversation he wasn't ready to have.
"Problem? What problem do I have?" he replied, avoiding her gaze.
But before he could fully withdraw, she reached out and gently cupped his face, forcing him to look at her.
"You're smart, Kalix," she said softly, "but you can't fool me. I know it's not Diana—it's something else. Something deeper. And it's eating at you."
Her voice had softened, her tone now more concerned than confrontational.
