Chapter 148 - Chapter 148: Chaos at the Snowpoint Temple

(Regigigas, Red, Dick, and Hunter J Appears)

Near Snowpoint City, a mysterious ancient structure stands tall—the legendary Snowpoint Temple. It is said that within its depths lies Regigigas, the fabled King of the Regis, powerful enough to move entire continents.

Right now, a heated battle is taking place in front of the grand ancient temple.

A young Trainer, dressed in a red and white cap and matching jacket, commands a round-faced Pikachu as he faces off against a brown-haired young man clad in a black leather jacket. The latter has sent out a Probopass—a Pokémon of formidable strength.

The Probopass skillfully controls its three Mini-Noses, directing laser-like Power Gem attacks from multiple angles to strike at the round-faced Pikachu. At the same time, Probopass itself uses its incredibly sturdy body as a weapon, relentlessly pressing the attack.

Though this was a 1v1 battle in name, the presence of the Mini-Noses made it feel like a 4v1. A Pokémon of the same level would likely struggle to withstand such a relentless assault.

Fortunately, this Pikachu is Red's Pikachu—a Pokémon of unmatched strength. With its exceptional agility, it weaves through Probopass' attacks with ease, dodging each strike and countering at just the right moments.

Then, in a sudden burst of motion, Pikachu's Iron Tail collides with Probopass. Just as they clash, the ground trembles violently.

Out of nowhere, a massive white arm bursts forth from beneath the earth. In the blink of an eye, a towering Pokémon with a colossal white body emerges, its massive frame splitting the ground apart as it rises. A series of yellow bands run along the center of its torso from back to front.

On either side of its body, it bears three sets of circular markings—red, blue, and gray—resembling eyes. Its head and feet are covered in patches of green moss, as though nature itself has claimed the ancient titan as its own.

Regigigas—the King of the Regis—has awakened!

Without hesitation, Probopass charges forward, attempting to ram Regigigas head-on. However, the colossal Pokémon effortlessly swats Probopass aside with a single mighty blow, sending it tumbling through the air.

Seeing this, Pikachu does not falter. Sparks crackle around its cheeks before it unleashes a powerful Thunderbolt at Regigigas.

The legendary Pokémon swings its fist downward attempting to retaliate, but Pikachu swiftly leaps to the side, narrowly avoiding the devastating strike.

Having missed its mark, Regigigas brings its massive hands together, forming a strange dark energy wave that surges outward in all directions. The shockwave sweeps away the accumulated snow, hurling both Pikachu and debris into the air.

Then, with both arms raised high, Regigigas begins firing Hyper Beams wildly, obliterating everything in its vicinity.

This was the chaotic scene Paul arrived to witness.

"What's going on?! Why has Regigigas suddenly awakened?!"

Nearby, Dick, the Trainer who had been battling Red, checks on his Probopass, his face full of confusion as he watches Regigigas rampage.

"Finally... it's awake. All of my efforts weren't in vain."

A cold, mocking voice echoes from above.

Perched atop a Salamence, a mysterious figure smirks down at them.

Using advanced technology, she had interfered with the electromagnetic signals in the area for an extended period—her goal? To force the slumbering Regigigas out of hiding.

Above the temple, the dark silhouette of a massive high-tech airship appears, slowly revealing itself from behind the cloud cover.

It's Hunter J's ship.

"Pokémon Hunter—J."

Paul steps forward, his gaze cold as he stares at the airborne criminal.

He has not forgotten their last encounter—when she hunted him down.

A missed opportunity. If only he had ended things in that cave back then.

"..."

Red lifts his head, his eyes hidden beneath the shadow of his cap, but a trace of anger flickers within them.

Anger toward the hunter, and anger at his interrupted battle.

"A hunter, huh? That's never good—"

Before Dick can finish speaking, two devastating beams of destruction erupt from Regigigas' hands, streaking toward them at blinding speed.

In the split second before impact, Probopass hurls itself forward, shielding its Trainer.

BOOM!

An explosion engulfs Probopass, fire and debris scattering in all directions.

"Probopass!"

Dick cries out.

Already weakened from battling Pikachu, Probopass can no longer endure.

It collapses.

"This isn't good. We need to split up! I'll handle Hunter J—you take care of Regigigas!"

Recalling his fallen Probopass, Dick makes his decision.

Without hesitation, he throws five Poké Balls, sending out Gengar, Scizor, Umbreon, Dragonite, and Arcanine to engage Hunter J.

Against villains, there's no reason to hold back. If you can gang up on them, you should.

"..."

Red says nothing.

He simply tilts his cap slightly upward and wordlessly releases five more Pokémon:

"Viiiiiine~" (Venusaur)

"Roooar~" (Charizard)

"Laaaaaap~" (Lapras)

"Miii~" (Espeon)

"Kabiii~" (Snorlax)

Then, without hesitation, he gives his commands:

"Hypnosis, Thunderbolt, Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, Blizzard, Hammer Arm!"

The elegant and noble Espeon vanished in an instant with Teleport, reappearing above Regigigas' head. Powerful hypnotic waves radiated downward, momentarily soothing its rampaging mind and lulling it into drowsiness.

However, that was the limit of its effect.

The seven buttons on Regigigas' body simultaneously lit up with a crimson glow, the six red dots alternating in rapid succession. In the blink of an eye, its uncontrollable state was reignited.

Hypnosis, ineffective!

Yet, in that brief moment of fatigue, the ground beneath Regigigas shattered. Countless hardened vines, covered in thorns, surged up, slamming into its massive body. While dealing the damage, they managed to suppress it for just a moment.

Immediately after, several devastating attacks rained down, all striking Regigigas in unison.

"Boom!"

A massive explosion erupted.

"Kabiii!"

Amidst the billowing smoke, Snorlax descended from above, its thick arms glowing white as it came crashing down onto Regigigas.

Hammer Arm!

"Bang!"

The impact dispersed the lingering smoke, and Regigigas' colossal body was smashed into the ground, momentarily falling silent.

Seizing the opportunity, Red pulled out a Poké Ball and hurled it at Regigigas, successfully enveloping it within.

"Re...gi...gi...gas!"

But before the Poké Ball could even shake once, a violent red light burst forth, and with a deafening explosion, the ball shattered. Regigigas reappeared in its full fury.

"..."

Witnessing this, Red's eyes flickered with seriousness.

Unlike his game counterpart, this world's Red was far from an invincible champion—he was still training rigorously to dominate the Kanto League. At his current level, he hadn't even reached Champion-tier strength.

Facing a Regigigas that could challenge even Champions, even with a team effort, victory was no easy feat!

Meanwhile, on the other side, Dick's Pokémon were locked in battle against Hunter J.

Despite her striking beauty and commanding presence, Hunter J's strength was undeniable—at the very least, she was on the Elite Four level.

Dick's greatest advantage at the moment was that Hunter J, being a mercenary, had only a small team of Pokémon—just Salamence, Ariados, and Drapion.

"Her arm-mounted device fires a laser that can petrify its target upon impact."

Although Paul wasn't entirely sure whether this world's Hunter J possessed the same petrification beam, he decided it was best to issue a warning.

"Got it! Everyone, be careful!"

Dick quickly caught on and shouted the warning to his team.

Seeing that Red was fully engaged in battle with Regigigas, Paul refrained from jumping in recklessly and disrupting his momentum. Instead, he gave a simple tactical suggestion:

"Stack status conditions."

Although Espeon's Hypnosis had failed earlier, that didn't mean it would fail indefinitely. Even for a Legendary Pokémon, with Red's team constantly trying, one of them was bound to land a status effect sooner or wlater.

And as long as any status condition took hold, it would significantly ease the battle's difficulty.

Red glanced at Paul, then issued a new command:

"Thunder Wave, Hypnosis, Will-O-Wisp, Toxic, Yawn, Confuse Ray!"

Following the order, his Pokémon unleashed a variety of status-inflicting moves, all aimed at Regigigas.

Seeing this unfold, Paul released his own Pokémon.

Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't be able to intervene in either of these battles—but if he maximized stat boosts, he could change that equation.

Thus, Paul ordered his Pokémon to begin their power-ups in the background. Once their buffs were fully stacked, they could step in and assist.

As the stat-boosting process began, Electivire was the first to notice something unusual.

Both battlefields were intense and chaotic.

However, Electivire's eyes were particularly drawn to one specific Pikachu—the young Trainer and his team facing off against Regigigas seemed eerily familiar.

"Viree?"

Wasn't that the very same Pikachu from the television broadcast all those years ago, back when it was still an Elekid?

The round-cheeked Pikachu immediately caught Electivire's attention.

"Vireee...?"

Then, shifting its gaze, it locked onto another familiar figure—Hunter J.

Its expression twisted in anger as it clenched its fists.

"Go for Hunter J!"

Paul patted Electivire, knowing that it could fight while continuing to boost its stats—making it the perfect candidate to enter the fray.

"Viree!"

With a sharp cry, Electivire took off, soaring straight toward Dick's battlefield.

A blinding Thunder crackled through the air, arcing straight toward Hunter J who was perched atop Salamence.

Salamence glanced up and instantly flapped its wings, veering away to evade the attack.
