Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 - Baaz vs Direwolves (end)

Baaz could feel his strength slipping. His weapon was useless in this situation as his opponent was too close. The wolf's primal ferocity was overwhelming, and with each passing moment, the demon realized he was on the brink of defeat.

In the heat of the moment, as the Direwolf lunged once again, its fangs aimed for his throat, something deep inside Baaz stirred. It was ancient, forbidden, and reckless—a force that till now he was reluctant to use, buried deep within him. His mind screamed against it, but his body was already responding.

Berserk.

It has been used.

A surge of primal, untamed rage ignited within him. His body trembled, the pain of his injuries vanishing as an overwhelming rush of power flooded his veins. His vision blurred, his thoughts fractured, and in that moment, Baaz was consumed by an animalistic fury, a berserker's madness. The last remnants of restraint evaporated in an instant.

His eyes, once cold and calculating, burned with a wild, fiery light. His muscles swelled and twisted, bursting with as he grew larger, more monstrous. His horns sharpened, and his claws elongated into deadly talons. The very air around him seemed to distort with the intensity of his rage, as if the world itself were recoiling from his newfound power.

If he was in a right state of mind he would have seen

[ Ding! You have unlocked the skill Berserk]

[Ding! Berserk is reacting with ????????]

[ All abilities of the Berserk skill have been amplified]

The Direwolf boss, mid-pounce, was suddenly met with an explosion of fury. The demon's hand shot out, grabbing the wolf by its throat with the strength of a hundred men. The wolf, struggling to break free, snapped its jaws at Baaz's face, but he was faster. With a roar, the demon hurled the beast across the clearing, sending it crashing into a nearby tree with a thunderous impact.

With his mind clouded by berserk rage, Baaz did not pause. He charged forward, his movements a blur, too fast for the wolf to track. His claws slashed through the air, tearing through the wolf's side, raking deep gouges into its flesh. The wolf howled in pain, but the demon's onslaught was relentless, every strike fueled by the raw, uncontrollable rage coursing through his body.

The forest trembled with the force of their fight. The demon's every blow sent shockwaves through the ground, trees splintering in his wake. His movements, already uncontrolled, became chaotic, violent, and unstoppable. The very air crackled with raw energy as Baaz unleashed his fury, striking with a savage, primal instinct he had never known before.

The Direwolf, bloodied and battered, fought back with all its might, but it was no match for the sheer ferocity of the demon's Berserk rage. Every time it tried to strike, the demon was there, faster, stronger, more furious than before. The wolf's claws raked against the demon's skin, but the wounds were healing almost as fast as they appeared, the berserk energy driving him beyond the limits of pain.

With a final, guttural roar, Baaz slammed his fist into the Direwolf's chest, sending it sprawling to the ground. The wolf was barely conscious, its body a crumpled mess of fur and blood. The demon stood over it, his breath heavy, his body trembling with the aftershocks of the fury he had unleashed. His vision began to clear, the madness subsiding as the berserk power began to fade.

The Direwolf's golden eyes flickered with one last, defiant spark, but it could no longer move. Baaz's s chest heaved, and his mind cleared, the haze of rage dissipating. He stood over the broken form of the beast, victorious, but at a cost. The raw power of Berserk had consumed him, leaving him drained and unstable, his body trembling with the aftereffects of the fight.

BAM

Baaz fell beside the carcass of the Alpha. He was still conscious but was unable to move even one muscle. Then something fascinating happened as he laid there. A mysterious energy collected all the blood from the surrounding and they formed a big sphere of blood. It hovered in the air, before going toward him. He was astonished to see the blood disappear as if drunk by him.

" Cool, I'm a vampire now." Hahaa haaaa a tired laugh escaped his dry lips.

The process continued for a good few hours giving enough time to reflect about what happened and what he needed to do. He took a look at his notifications. Swiping them away when he felt his body twitching under the assault of pain, his body was now basically healed and he won. But at what cost, he should have ran away and not wait for the wolves to came. Well it seemed that he let himself being deceived by his victory against the goblins.

" It seemed I became too conceited, I need to change that. You never know what kind of enemies you will meet. " He said before plunging back into his thoughts.

Time flew by, and before he knew it it was already sunset. He stood up, but something has changed, his mindset has changed as he realized that he needed to put more focus on elevating his chances of survival.

The wolves have been defeated, but the encounter has left him humbled. He has learned the limitations of his power and is now he will be more cautious when dealing with higher-level threats in the future, knowing that even the lowliest of creatures can sometimes pose a deadly challenge.

Baaz turned toward his lair, his body was still stiff and was hurting in some places but he knew he was way better than he should be at this moment. The blood he absorbed earlier certainly did wonders. He has so much that he needed to do. But now was the time to focus on his lair . This was his path to survival. He has seen firsthand how dangerous this forest can be.Decided, he entered into his abode, his back gradually disappearing in the dark leaving his mess behind.

Zaroth is a special continent. It is one of the few restricted continent in the world. Long ago, some powers decided to cut acces this piece of land. Effectively sealing it and barring any uninvited guest its entry. This continent was a heavily contested one as many vied for its control. It housed a lot of vegetation as forest, valley and jungle could be encountered everywhere. Sometimes you would also find desert and savanna, but those were rare.

This is exactly in this continent that one could encounter the Wildes. This big forest that sheltered Baaz lair.

The Wildes, the sprawling forest in the southern reaches of Zaroth, are shrouded in mystery. The dense, untamed jungles are home to dangerous creatures, plants, and secrets that have been lost to time. It is said that the Wildes have a consciousness of their own, with the trees whispering ancient words to those who listen closely enough. The locals, if there are any who dare live on its fringes, tell tales of strange phenomena and bizarre occurrences — from glimpses of shadowy figures to encounters with creatures that appear and disappear like phantoms.

There, remnants of the past were buried.

It is said that the continent has eleven rulers. A few fell thousands years ago andnobody has managed to replace them in a long time as many have tried but never got any success. Some even said there was something or someone preventing it. Should one succeed in doing so he would then be known as Overlord.

To claim the title of Overlord is no small feat; it requires not only the conquest of a part of the continent but also the ability to harness the raw, unpredictable forces of nature that rule over these land.

In the past, the Overlords who have claimed the Wildes were as varied as the continent itself. Some were ruthless and power-hungry, seeking to expand their dominion across the entire continent, while others were more enigmatic, preferring to remain in the shadows, manipulating events from behind the scenes. There are whispers of secret societies, ancient pacts, and powerful artifacts that play a part in these power struggles, with each Overlord guarding their own dark secrets.

Despite the strict restrictions on entry, rumors still circulate about those who try to sneak past the wards that guard Zaroth's borders. Mercenaries, adventurers, and treasure hunters risk their lives to reach the continent, hoping to uncover its secrets or claim a piece of its immense wealth. Some never return, while others emerge, forever changed by the land's twisted magic. These rare individuals are often greeted with skepticism or fear, for few can truly claim to have survived the Wildes and lived to tell the tale.
