Footsteps thundered down the corridor.
"Lila!" Caleb's voice cracked with panic as he skidded around the corner, Adrian just a breath behind him.
Caleb reached her first, dropping to his knees, his hands shaking as he lifted her into his arms. Her skin was pale, almost translucent against the dark stone. For a terrifying moment, she didn't move.
"Lila, come on, wake up!" he barked, brushing her hair back from her clammy forehead.
Adrian crouched beside him, his usually cool composure fractured. His sharp gaze scanned her body, lingering on the way her hand remained instinctively curled over her abdomen. His nostrils flared, scenting the subtle, unfamiliar magic swirling around her.
"She's still breathing," Adrian said tightly. "But something's wrong. It's not just her—it's the baby."
Caleb growled low in his throat, the primal sound vibrating through the air. "Then fix it, dammit!"
Adrian's jaw tightened. "We need help. A healer."
