Chapter 23 - Ah

"Boss!" Suzie burst into his room, not bothering to knock."The girl's gone."

"Okay.." he replied calmly.

She knitted her brows together as the confusion became visible on her face. "What? How can it be okay? We fought for that girl you know?"

She had seen what those dogs in human form had done to her and she could relate perfectly especially since she was once in a similar situation herself, her heart reached out to the girl and now, she was missing.

"That I know."

Suzie realized that there was something wrong with the way he was replying. He was always a reserved person but she knew he wouldn't answer like that. He would have at least asked if they tried to find her. Derolo didn't like doing anything that wouldn't benefit him afterall. If he had fought for her, there was probably a reason.

Walking closer to him, she found his back hunched over a strange book.

[You have seen the cosmos book]

A translucent screen suddenly materialized in front of her. She jerked back before calming as she understood where it came from but she just couldn't get used to it.

'What's the Cosmos book?'

[A book containing details of the Cosmos and creationofplanetsandentitiesmwug@%#nkdjj error! Error!]

[Host cannot read the Cosmos book]

"Whoa! That thing's a Cosmos book."

Derolo looked up, honestly surprised to see her there.

"When did you get here?" He inquired, finally closing the book he couldn't read almost too delicately.

"I've been here for a while."

"Oh, I didn't know that. What do you need?"

"I don't need anything. I actually came to report that the girl is gone."

"What!"

Suzie nodded her head, smiling to herself. 'That's how to react..'

"Have you tried finding her?"

"Yes, we have."

"What if the red wolves took her?"

"We already thought of that possibility, so we checked the room Wayne was detained in but he's still there."

"So, the red wolves have been canceled out.." he paused in thought. "Maybe, she ran away. According to what you told me, she was touched so she might not feel comfortable around us.."

"But.."

"If she ran away, she has somewhere to run to. Leave her be."

"No matter where she has to run to, she's still too young. The girl isn't even fifteen yet."

"Well, that's none of our business, is it?" He deadpanned.

Suzie opened her mouth to speak but soon closed it when she realised she had no counter against him.

"Okay, I'll tell the guys that."She finally said.

A few minutes later Suzie was still in the room, staring holes into Derolo's head.

"Do you need anything else, Suzie?"

"About that Cosmos book, can I see it?"

"Oh, there's no problem with that but I doubt you'll be able to read it. You see, it's in a completely different language."

"Let's still try–"

Derolo handed her the book reluctantly, he really didn't want to part with the book for a second.

Collecting the book, she traced her fingers along the book. It was hard and rough to touch, but even with all that, there was an alluring feel to it. And an even more familiar feel to it.

She finally opened the book and stared at it for a while.

"See, I told you you wouldn't be able to read it…"

"Derolo, didn't you learn German?"

"I did, why're you asking?"

"Well, German is my native language so I'm naturally good at it but I recall speaking to you in German and you were good at it, so why can you not read this book?"

"What do you mean?"

"It's written in German."

Derolo immediately took the book from her and system messages poured in.

[You are in possession of the Cosmos book]

[Error]

[Host isn't eligible to read it]

[Would you like to store it?]

[Yes/No]

"And you see it in German?" He asked.

"Yes. Complete German."

"I don't see it in German. It's written in a language I feel I know but I cannot read it."

"That's not possible…"

"Well, that's what happening "

******

"Did you hear?"

"What?"

"There was a student involved in killing the professor, one of the students who had a grudge against him."

"What the hell's going on here?"

"Oh…Justin."

"What!"

The boys gossiping rolled their eyes. I was just trying to answer your question, bro."

"Well answer it then."

The boy with blue hair among the two boys rolled his eyes again before speaking. "Well, a professor was murdered."

"Wow..been so long anything like that happend."

"Yeah.."

"So, who was it? Which of the professors?"

"That one you hate.., Sylvester."

Justin burst out laughing, drawing the attention of everyone in the area.

"Quiet down, Justin! At this rate, people'll think you're the one who killed him."

"How, why?"

"You really are dumb."

"Say that again, twerp head.."

"What the fuxk! How many times have I told you not to call me that? My name's David!"

"Whatever, just focus on your boyfriend right there, before he runs away." Justin advised, waving his hands.

"He's not going anywhere, and he's not my boyfriend!!!" David yelled.

Justin didn't bother replying since he was already too far away.

"Since I'm in school, I'll check if that fucker is really dead."

He walked through the hallways chewing and popping gum in his mouth until he finally reached Alfred's class.

The class was huge, with blue plastic chairs and tables fastened to the ground. The board hung on the wall was large and cleaned, ready to be used. The faint smell of lavender air freshener lingered in the air and Justin grimaced.

He looked around the class where there were few people already sitting and chatting away. His eyes went straight to the third row. Alfred always made sure to sit on the third row but he wasn't there.

"He's never as late as this.." he checked the time on the watch he wore, "maybe, he's actually…" he stopped the thought. If Alfred was really dead, he was going to be fucked up.

"I'll follow him right after if anything happens to him."

He shook his head and decided to leave. Since he wasn't really interested in school, he decided he would go back home.

"So, you finally had the balls to talk to the goddess, not only did you talk to her, you also threatened her to give you money? Useless bumfuck!"

A loud hit and a thud was heard, someone had fallen to the ground.

"I wasn't the one who spoke to her first! She approached me!"

"You dare reply me!!!"

More slaps were heard, followed by grunts.

'What the hell's going on over there?" Justin thought to himself walking towards the scene where the noise was coming from.

"Ah, it's him.." he chuckled to himself, sighing in relief.

"What makes you think I like that witch! I'd sooner poison myself than fall in love with the snake. Honestly, you all are fools for liking her. Dimwitted lovesick fucktards." Alfred muttered loud enough to be heard.

The boy assaulting him raised his hands for another slap but was stopped when he felt his hands hang in the air.

"Justin…what're you doing?"

Justin dropped the hand and immediately went for a kick in Alfred's stomach, causing the latter to spit and groan in pain.

"I have no business with whoever you spoke to or whatnot but boy, am I glad to see you?"

Alfred's breath hitched.

"Now tell me who the fuck gave you the permission to run away from me…"
