Chapter 84 - dream visitor

Asuriel's dream began, as all her dreams did, with silence.

There were no footsteps. No wind. No stars.

There was only the soft swirl of silver mist, curling along the grassy dreamscape she had imagined, pooling and shifting in hypnotizing swirls. Asuriel stood barefoot at the center of it all, the cold dampness of the fog curling around her ankles, but she felt no chill.

Around her, the horizon stretched endlessly – an ocean of nothing.

It was how her dreams usually went. After her dreams of Jae stopped around five years ago, the only things that filled her mind when she fell asleep were nightmares or nothingness.

Just as she settled in and accepted the fate of an uneventful rest, Asuriel heard something in the background. There was a sound, something abnormal.

Soft. Faint. Fragile.

…It was a song.
