Chapter 131 - guardian

The elder dragon's words hung in the air, filled with significance. I leaned forward, my heart pounding with excitement and curiosity. "What secrets?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

The elder dragon's eyes seemed to gleam with a deep understanding. "The secrets of our kind," it repeated. "You, Tharros, are a part of something much larger than yourself. Something that has been hidden for centuries."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as the elder dragon's words painted a picture of mystery and intrigue. What could these secrets be? And what did I have to do with them?

My parents watched the exchange with interest, their faces filled with a mix of curiosity and caution. They seemed to know that this conversation was important, but they let the elder dragon take the lead.

The elder dragon continued, its voice weaving a spell of wonder and discovery. "You have a special gift, Tharros. One that could change the course of our history."

I felt my mind racing with questions and possibilities. What was this gift? And how could it change the course of our history?

The elder dragon's next words would change everything...

I question, "Is it because of my 8 element?"

The elder dragon's eyes widened slightly, and it nodded its great head. "Yes, Tharros. Your ability to wield eight elements is indeed a rare gift. One that holds great promise and potential."

I felt a surge of excitement and curiosity. So, it was true. My unique ability was connected to the secrets the elder dragon spoke of.

The elder dragon continued, "Your potential is vast, Tharros. But with it comes great responsibility. We must teach you how to harness your power, and how to use it for the good of our kind."

I nodded, eager to learn more about my abilities and how to control them. The elder dragon's words filled me with a sense of purpose and anticipation. What lay ahead?

I look at the elder dragon, "but I'm still a hatchling that is only 7 years old now."

The elder dragon chuckled, a low rumbling sound. "Ah, Tharros, you may be young in years, but your potential is already showing signs of greatness. We will begin your training and education soon, tailored to your unique needs and abilities."

I looked up at my parents, who exchanged a knowing glance. They seemed to understand that this was a significant moment for me, and they were willing to support me on this journey.

The elder dragon continued, "For now, let us focus on preparing you for the challenges ahead. Your parents will guide you through the initial stages, and we will provide additional mentorship as needed."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination and excitement. I was ready to learn and grow, and I knew that I had the support of my family and the elder dragon.

I question, "What job am I supposed to do anyway?"

The elder dragon's expression turned serious, and it regarded me with a thoughtful gaze. "Tharros, your role will be to unite the warring dragon clans and bring peace to our lands. Your unique abilities and potential make you the key to our survival and prosperity."

I felt a surge of shock and wonder at the elder dragon's words. Unite the warring clans? Bring peace to our lands? What did it mean? And how could I, a young dragon, possibly accomplish such a feat?

I look at the elder dragon and ask, "So I just have to attack something that is treating our clan?"

The elder dragon's expression turned stern, and it regarded me with a serious gaze. "No, Tharros. Being a leader is not just about fighting and defending. It's about making difficult decisions, negotiating with other clans, and finding solutions that benefit everyone. You will need to use your intelligence, empathy, and unique abilities to bring peace and prosperity to our lands."

I looked at the elder dragon, unsure of what to say. I had always thought that being strong and fierce was the most important thing, but now I was beginning to realize that there was more to being a leader than just physical strength.

I nodded slowly, taking in the elder dragon's words. "I see," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I never thought about it that way. I just wanted to protect our clan and be strong like you."

The elder dragon's expression softened, and it regarded me with a warm gaze. "Strength is important, Tharros, but it's not the only thing that matters. A true leader must be wise, compassionate, and just. You have the potential to be a great leader, but you must learn to balance your strength with wisdom and empathy."

I thought about the elder dragon's words, and I realized that I had a lot to learn. I was still young, and I had much to discover about myself and my role as a potential leader. But I was determined to learn and grow, to become the leader that our clan needed.

"What do I need to do?" I asked, looking up at the elder dragon with determination in my eyes.

The elder dragon smiled, its eyes shining with approval. "You will begin your training immediately. Your parents will guide you, and I will provide additional mentorship. You will learn about our history, our laws, and our traditions. You will also learn how to control your powers and use them for the greater good."

I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. I was ready to start my journey, to learn and grow, and to become the leader that our clan needed.

I spent the next few weeks learning about our clan's history, laws, and traditions. My parents and the elder dragon were patient teachers, guiding me through the complexities of our clan's culture and way of life. I was fascinated by the stories of our ancestors and the struggles they had faced, and I felt a deep sense of pride and connection to my heritage.

As I learned, I began to realize just how much responsibility came with being a potential leader. I had to think not just about myself, but about the well-being of our entire clan. I had to consider the impact of my actions on others and strive to make decisions that would benefit everyone.

My training was not just about learning facts and figures, but about developing my character and my abilities as a leader. I practiced controlling my powers, learning how to harness them for the greater good. I also worked on developing my empathy and compassion, trying to understand the perspectives and needs of others.

As the days turned into weeks, I could feel myself growing and changing. I was becoming more confident and self-assured, and I was starting to see the world in a new light. I was excited to continue my journey and to see where it would take me.

One day, the elder dragon summoned me to its chambers. "Tharros, it's time for you to take the next step in your training," it said, its eyes shining with anticipation. "You will be going on a journey to the Heart of the Mountains, a sacred place where our clan's ancient magic resides. Are you ready?"

I nodded eagerly, feeling a surge of excitement and anticipation. "Yes, I'm ready," I said, my voice filled with determination.

The elder dragon nodded, its expression serious. "This journey will be a test of your abilities and your character. You will face challenges and obstacles along the way, but I have faith in you, Tharros. You have the potential to be a great leader, and I believe you will succeed."

I felt a sense of pride and gratitude at the elder dragon's words. I knew that I had a long way to go, but I was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

The elder dragon handed me a small, intricately carved stone. "This is a mapstone," it explained. "It will guide you to the Heart of the Mountains. Follow its guidance, and you will reach your destination safely."

I took the mapstone, feeling its strange energy coursing through me. I looked up at the elder dragon, and it nodded. "You may depart now, Tharros. May the winds be at your back and the sun shine brightly upon your path."

With that, I set off on my journey to the Heart of the Mountains, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As I departed, the elder dragon's words echoed in my mind. I felt a sense of determination and purpose, knowing that this journey was a crucial step in my growth as a leader. The mapstone in my possession, I followed its gentle guidance, navigating through the winding paths and rugged terrain.

The journey was long and arduous, but I pressed on, fueled by my determination and curiosity. Finally, after what seemed like hours of walking, I caught sight of the majestic mountains in the distance. The Heart of the Mountains loomed before me, its peak shrouded in mist.

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of my responsibilities and the thrill of the unknown. With a sense of resolve, I began my ascent, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As I climbed higher, the air grew thinner, and the wind picked up. But I persevered, my heart pounding with excitement. I was one step closer to unlocking the secrets of the Heart of the Mountains.

And so, with the mapstone's guidance, I continued my journey, eager to discover what lay ahead in the future.
