Chapter 208 - Chimchar’s Appearance

Gastly looked at the ball-shaped Pokémon in front of him with an evil smile on its face.Obviously he had never seen this kind of Pokémon before, so he twisted his head to look at Rope.

Rope nodded at him and then said, "Dive into the shadows."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Gastly very quickly dove into the shadows.

Lt. Surge and Electrode don't do any chasing, they just watch as Gastly enters the shadows and then begin to defend themselves against the next attack from Gastly.

While Electrode on the field was cautious, Lt. Surge off the field was slightly more relaxed.

"Your Gastly is not suited for this kind of field..."

Lt. Surge scanned the shadows on the field before speaking.

In fact, the nature of this matchup had changed the moment he sent out his ace Electrode. Instead of Lt. Surge starting to get real, it was more like he was preparing to start a mentoring battle.

After all, seeing a novelty Pokémon like Gastly few could resist the curiosity of the mind.

"True, but this is the kind of scene you're going to have to face on a regular basis after all." Rope nodded in response.

It was clear to himself that Gastly, with all his abilities, was supposed to be a one-hit wonder assassin who hid amongst the shadows. Not for swiftness, but for stealth and guile.

In a frontal battlefield duel, arranging Gastly to fight under the sunlight was ultimately the most foolish way to fight. It was a clear case of using one's own shortcomings to attack another's strengths.

At least going head-to-head in Gastly's form wasn't something Rope's Gastly excelled at.

Lt. Surge nodded at Rope's words, Rope was right about that. Times were different nowadays, Pokémon that only fought wild fights and fought to the death were not really particularly popular anymore.

Putting other things aside, the rise of the Gorgeous Tournament alone was enough to prove this.

Matchmaking, long ago, wasn't about fighting and killing.

"Gastly, Hypnosis!"

Rope ordered coldly.

And Electrode quickly turned back to the shadows around him just in time for a pink wave of light to come.

The wave of light hit Electrode, who's eyes were half-open and half-closed, as if he was about to fall asleep.

Without waiting for Rope's order, Gastly hit it with a very self-conscious Will-O-Wisp.

"Sleep Talk!"

Lt. Surge is also helpless, how qualitative is Hypnosis, or Naked Hypnosis...

It has to be said that Lt. Surge, despite his long dark face, is still quite European.

Sleep Talk came in with a Protect.

Will-O-Wisp was blocked, while at the same time Electrode woke up!

Gastly immediately retreats into the shadows, but Electrode doesn't give him a chance.

Electrode's body flashes with electricity, and the surrounding area is lit up, and the shadows that Gastly was trying to hide in disappear without a trace.

As for why not just use Flash?

It's not legal...

Not everyone's Pokémon can be illegal...

But that's not so bad, after all, the next thing you know, you can just get your hands dirty.

"Electrode! Discharge!"

Lt. Surge seized the opportunity to command.

With Lt. Surge's command, electricity flashed around Electrode's body, and then a powerful electric current instantly shot out from its body in all directions.

Gastly was struck by the lightning and a look of pain appeared on his face.

Rope made a split second decision and pulled out his Pokéball to retrieve Gastly.

"Tough luck Gastly, get some rest first."

Rope said to Gastly with a smile.

"Gastly is incapacitated, Electrode wins! Please send the next Pokémon from Rope!"

Whitley dutifully performed his duties as a referee.

Though very unskilled that is.

"You're still very unskilled at commanding Gastly, Rope."

Lt. Surge looked at Rope with a serious face.

Rope's face didn't change, he just pursed his lips.

He didn't deny Lt. Surge's words, but you'd have to say that he had just commanded seriously. That would be a joke as well...

How could Rope's even have the basic ability to avoid danger?

All he has to look at is Gastly's sense of autonomy against the enemy.

Look at Gastly's ability to fight autonomously. Right now, it still seemed like there were a lot of habits in the wild that Gastly needed to change.

"Let's start the next one then.Electrode isn't changing is he?"

Rope had a smile on his face, but unfortunately the smile was obviously not particularly sunny...

Lt. Surge instinctively felt bad. But at this point you're asking him, Colonel Lt. Surge, to wimp out? How could he!

"No change! I believe in Electrode!"

Lt. Surge had a look of righteousness on his face, and if you looked closely you could see a bit of generosity in dying.

"All right, then! Come out, Chimchar!"

Chimchar came out of the ball with a cold face and no words. Only the flames on his body suddenly tumbled, flame armor wrapping around the vitals. The flames in his hand solidified into a long, sculpted staff, which pointed diagonally at the ground, and Chimchar's eye frames blazed with crimson flames.

Electrode and Lt. Surge both looked shocked. He can see that this Chimchar should not be very old, looking at the body shape and physical appearance, you say this is a newborn little guy Lt. Surge believe, but this kind of energy level does not seem to be right ah...

Not to mention the Chimchar, you say that this is a normal fierce fire monkey, or even flaming monkeys Lt. Surge dare to believe.

"Rope... you guys..."

Lt. Surge got a little numb clawed...

"Don't look at me, this little guy's been pretty strong ever since his hatchling stage passed. He had almost elite level energy levels when he was in the egg."

Rope said with a bit of emotion as well.

He had thought from the start that the Chimchar that Cynthia had sent over should be very strong. But never expected it to actually be this strong. This talent could really hang with most Pokémon.

While the two people here were chatting, the two Pokémon over there had already started fighting.

Rope and Lt. Surge turned their heads to look at the battlefield, and as a result, neither of them opened their mouths to command.

Lt. Surge was numb...

He then saw that Chimchar carrying a stick, dodged Electrode's electric shock with his body, and then rushed to Electrode's near...

Pounding, smashing, swinging, poking, picking...

Chimchar's stick dance tiger tiger wind, at a glance is not a messy fight, very methodical ah!

The old-timer Electrode was blindsided...

Lt. Surge immediately did not know... This kind of opponent does not use any skills, is carrying a stick up is a hammer of the matchmaking he has not played ah...

What the hell is this?

"This stick technique... did you teach it?"

Lt. Surge asked stupidly.

"Er... I don't really know this, he was born with it, and I didn't teach this method of combat..."

Rope said helplessly as he scratched his head.

It was something he actually didn't really understand. But when he talked to Cynthia afterward, Cynthia said that it was probably hereditary, since both of this Chimchar's parents were also very good at fighting with sticks instead of skills...

Rope was confused, stick skills could still be hereditary?

Later, he asked Professor Kukui, who researched Z-Moves. Although Professor Kukui mainly researched Z-Moves, he was actually quite good at researching Pokémon moves.

Professor Kukui says that this scenario is indeed possible. However, it should be noted that such a scenario would inevitably involve something higher than skill. But Professor Kukui hadn't researched it, and the Kapu family was tight-lipped about such things.

To say that the Kapu family that was able to create autonomous Z-Moves wouldn't create ordinary skills Rope didn't believe it.

Although skills could also do something very similar to new moves.

But only those that could be inherited were true skills.

Lt. Surge had 'I don't believe' written in big letters all over his face.

Rope couldn't explain anything to Lt. Surge, after all, he was actually half-knowledgeable about this matter. So he could only show his hands and gesture 'with your intelligence, I can't seem to explain it to you properly'.

Lt. Surge wanted to curse right then and there, but after thinking about it, it seemed like reckless people like himself hadn't been taken very seriously by these fellows...

That's alright then.

"Electrode, Discharge!"

Electrode, who had already been a bit confused by Chimchar, reacted only after hearing his own master that he could use aoe to get out of the predicament of being linked up.

"Lu lu lu!!!"

With Electrode's cry, an even more powerful current was released around him than the Stone Red that had attacked Gastly earlier.

"Protect!"

It had to be said that Protect was really a jack-of-all-trades skill in same-level matchups.

A green light shield lit up, and Chimchar was unharmed as he was bathed in lightning.

Electrode's battle experience was still very rich even now, he didn't panic and release the lightning at full power, he still left a few points of strength.

So after the first wave of attacks ran out and Protect's light shield disappeared, he immediately released another section of electric shock. It was less powerful, but it was enough to give Chimchar a drink.

At least that's what he and Lt. Surge thought.

As a result, after Protect's shield disappeared, Chimchar Missile didn't choose to avoid the front for the time being, and even chose to continue surging forward.

Lt. Surge looked at the Chimchar that met the lightning blitz and really felt like his head was spinning.

This little guy wasn't very old either, and it turned out that the level of difficulty was really just one of a kind.

Superb mobility, and now it seemed there was also the defense provided by Rope's flame armor, as well as tenacious fighting spirit and bold judgment.

Lightning strikes Chimchar's flame armor, electricity and fire intertwining in a loud way, but unfortunately it doesn't do any damage to Chimchar.

Chimchar once again burst into Electrode's proximity.

There was actually something wrong with both hits.

The aoe mage beat the assassin, and the surge warrior beat the aoe mage. It seemed like the latter had the advantage, but in the end it was the unfavorable ones who had the upper hand. This was the so-called unfavorable frontal battlefield.

Sword Dance, Gathering Qi!

Chimchar swung his club in the midst of the sea of thunder, then struck Electrode's body hard.

Hitting the vitals!

"Lu lu lu!!!"

With a scream, Electrode was sent flying hard, then slammed into the protective wall against the station, then slowly slid down.

Lt. Surge looked at the incapacitated Electrode for a moment, still having a hard time accepting the fact that his main force had also been fucked up by Rope's Pokémon.

After fixing his mind, he took Electrode back into the Pokéball.

Looking at Chimchar, who was gently wearing a rough breath on the card field, and then at Rope, Lt. Surge silently gave a thumbs up towards.

"Rope, how old is your Chimchar?"

Lt. Surge asked.

"Uh...are you sure you want to know?"

Rope thought it was better that Lt. Surge didn't know...

But Lt. Surge didn't think so.

"Tell me when I tell you to tell me, where's all this nonsense coming from!"

Lt. Surge looked at the mother-in-law Rope with wonderful anger.

Rope saw that Lt. Surge was resolute, and could only let out a light sigh and then said, "He has just passed the juvenile period, but after the juvenile period, I started to train him, and it was only half a month's time..."

Lt. Surge people It's all silly...

You're saying you beat the old man's main with a Pokémon you've been training for half a month or so????

Rope was actually helpless. chimchar's power progression was not even at the speed he had speculated.

Why could Chimchar fight with Growlithe and Charmeleon before? Because their strength was already almost the same...

But recently, Chimchar's strength progress has also started to slow down. It seems that the energy deposited in the egg has already been digested. But it's also true that he already has the strength to reach the dojo level after being strengthened.

One can only say that the world is truly unfair, some Pokémon just reach the pinnacle of what most Pokémon are capable of at birth...

"Electrode is incapacitated for battle!Chimchar wins! Will Gym Leader Lt. Surge please send out the next Pokémon!"

Whitley rushed to raise his flag as he saw the field finally clearing up.

Rope didn't wait for Lt. Surge to make any reaction, and took it upon himself to put Chimchar back before making a please gesture towards Lt. Surge...

Lt. Surge grunted softly then unsheathed another Pokéball from his own waist.

"Get in the ring! Electivire!"

"Eh lu!"

Electivire growled as he blew his fist against his chest, showing off his aura.

Rope raised an eyebrow before pulling a Pokéball from his own belt.

"Come on out, Charmeleon!"

Charmeleon popped out of the ball, then looked at the imposing Thunder Wraith with a solemn expression on her face.

Flames churned as Charmeleon's unique flame armor took shape, then looked across at the Thunderbolt Wraith and let out a roar.

"Roar!!!"

"Thunder Punch!"

"Fire Punch!"

Electivire's fist leapt with golden electricity. And Charmeleon's fist had crimson flames tumbling over it.

Incongruously, neither Pokémon seemed to have any intention of retracting their power.

This punch seemed to be a punch that spared no effort. As the thunder and fire collided, a wave of air swept up all the dust on the sparring stage.

As the dust filled the air, Pokémon on the stage was no longer visible. All that remained was the clash of crimson fire and golden electricity.

Lt. Surge and Rope both looked at the smoke with a grave expression. Trying to see through the smoke and dust to see the battle inside.

Unfortunately, Rope could only perceive that Charmeleon and Electivire were still tussling and were indistinguishable.

Lt. Surge, on the other hand, couldn't see inside at all, and although he had great faith in his Electivire, his heart was still jittery.

For a while, the only sound left on the field was the sound of burning and the crackling of electricity.

But soon, amidst the intertwining colors of gold and red.

A dazzling white light lit up, illuminating the entire field.
