Chapter 80 - Spying

Chapter 80

I returned home only to find the whole family together in the living room. Everyone was in the living room, watching TV when I entered.

"Oh, sport. Where have you been?" Tom asked which gathered the attention of everyone else but I had a feeling Sara was aware of my presence beforehand.

"I was just out," I replied.

"Hmph!" Sara scoffed further cemented my theory that she and I were connected in some way. What was it though, I had no idea. I was still new to the system and it's functions. They only started to appear after I began to move on from just my own hand.

While the quest was to relieve myself five times a day, it didn't have much effect if I were to do so by my own hands. Had I known about this before, I wouldn't have rejected the advances of those bitches who had strange fetishes.

But, now that I think about it, it was all for the better. It was because of that restraint that I managed to have some very special relationships with the people I cared a lot about.

I smiled at Sara who scoffed at me once again and turned to the TV before I took a seat next to her. Since it was still daylight, I didn't do anything that required darkness.

The TV session went for a while before it was finally time to cook the feast that Aunt Elise was talking about in the morning. I, of course, offered to help which she didn't deny.

We worked without any interactions because the girls were helping out as well with minor tasks and in about two hours, we had everything prepared and set.

"Wow. This is some... feast." Sasha couldn't help but be surprised. Since I added some herbs from the system shop, the dinner was that much more aromatic and delicious.

While we ate, everyone talked for quite a while until it was time to end it all. Mira and I were tasked with washing the dishes. Well, Mira was tasked and I offered.

While we washed dishes, Mira said, "Saw you at the school today."

"Yeah. I was a bit rude to Sasha's teacher so I went there to apologize." I replied.

"I see. Then how did it go?" She asked. She must have not known the full idea. I did feel like someone was looking at me from outside of the cafe's window but I was focused on Aliza and ignored it. It was before the whole gang shebang happened so she wouldn't have an idea.

"It went well," I replied.

"You were with her until now, weren't you?" Mira asked.

Unlike Sara, I never had such a deep bond with Mira. Sure, we were friends and shared things that were deep in our lives as well, but it wasn't like on the scale with Sara. Sara and I were one, while Mira and I were just best friend cousins.

So this question right now wasn't being asked because she was trying to tease me or ask me how it was. It was simply a warning. To stay away from her sister's teacher which could jeopardize her situation. She didn't really care who I slept with. She just cared about how that affected her sister.

Mira was always straightforward like that. While Sara was a meek cat, Mira was a lone wolf who wasn't afraid of saying her piece of mind even to me, who was their close cousin.

"Yes," I replied. No explanation was needed. An explanation would just be an excuse. Mira looked at me with her usual expression and said, "You should stop that, Tyler."

"I know how it would affect Sasha but..." I looked at her with a smile on my face as I said, "I'm not gonna do anything that would make her life difficult."

Since Mira wasn't aware of the full story, she didn't know that from Aliza's point of view, she was the one in the wrong. She had made a move on someone else's boyfriend and it was a secret she would take to her grave.

Mira looked at me with her usual neutral expression. As I said, Mira and I have never been so close but she understood me well enough by now that I wasn't swayed by my libido. I never did anything that would put those close to me in an awkward stance.

She nodded and said, "Fine. But if anything happened, I'm gonna chop your balls off."

Considering Mira, she probably would so I nodded with a smile and continued to clean the dishes. We talked for a few minutes before I approached a topic which ticked her the wrong way, "How are things with Ross?"

"If you don't want your balls to be cut off right this instant, then you better close your mouth and move your hands faster," Mira said which made me smile which only annoyed her more. She sighed and said, "Our parents have set up a date for us this weekend. At the mall at that."

"Mall?" I was surprised as well. Didn't Tom knew her daughter well? The mall idea would have worked on Sara but on Mira, who dressed simple and lived really simply, shopping was never an obsession.

"Yeah. Dad said to take you too but it's just an excuse to get me and Ross alone." Mira explained. So that's what it was. While she couldn't understand the underlying meaning, I could. This date wasn't for Ross and Mira, it was for me. And probably...

"Is someone from the Ross's side coming too?" I asked.

"Her sister. You met her last time, didn't you?" Mira asked.

"I sure did." I replied before I got back to cleaning the cleaning the dishes. It seems Tom's plan to goad me was still in full swing.

"Haa..." I sighed and left it all for later. For now, I had other things to focus on. The first and foremost was the trade that was happening tonight. I went to my room before I opened the window and snuck out. If someone was to come to my room while I was not here, any explanation could be given but if I left through the front door, I might just have to give an explanation which I wasn't very keen on doing.

If I remember correctly, it was detective Kimberly who interrogated me this morning. Finding his whereabouts wasn't a problem thanks to my connections. I had a good bit of connections in the dark and they were hackers of the top quality.

They were easily able to figure out this trade's details and where it was happening. As to what was being loaded, well, it was a surprise to me as well.

They weren't drugs. If they were, I would have never come here. I had tonnes of drugs back at home and my business was going smoothly so there was no need to worry about that.

What interested me was the scale of the weapons in the warehouse. They had enough firearm to finance a war throughout the city. But it wasn't a small time gang or something. They were professionals. Suit wearing professionals who had proper training. The amount of security around the place, obvious and hidden, were way beyond a common deal.

It shouldn't have been a surprise as I remember my hacker telling me that it was very difficult to hack into the database. The lead was detective Kimberly so they went from there but as they hacked deeper and deeper, it got all the more difficult to keep on going.

My senses were telling me that I was stepping into uncharted territory. Somewhere I shouldn't. That this was a place where the strong resided and I was just a child compared to them.

But, for some reason, perhaps due to Rox's influence, I really, really wanted to go in right now.

So, let's begin.

"Huh? Who's there?" A guard yelled as he pointed his gun at me but he was too late. I used my full power and moved with all my strength, arriving before him and before he could even pull the trigger, I snatched the gun out of his hands and twisted his neck in a matter of two seconds.

It was still strange, killing a human.

But, I was getting used to it.

[Skill: Fireball]

[Rank: D]

[Effect: Consumed 100 MP to create a ten-inch ball of fire]

[Mastery: Bronze]

[Cost: 10000 SC]

With that, I was out of the shop coins. All the coins that I had were gone but the skill was amazing in its own sense.

Why?

"Aahhh!!!!"

It burned a hole in an armored and armed man in an instant. Nothing could stand against it and it was just a D rank skill. I could only wonder what an S rank skill would bring. But before that, let us get rid of these guys who were notified of my presence due to the screams of the man who was being burned alive.
