After I joined the surf camp I went to the instructor and asked her
"Miss Sakura, when would we start to learn the basics of how to surf?"
"We will be starting tomorrow at 8, and you can call me Sakura.
"It seems weird that someone my age is calling me Miss."
"Ok, if you insist, I'm looking forward to learning from you."
So I went off to the room to check it out and unpack, and then I went to sleep.
So the next day arrived, and Mr. Souta came and knocked on my door
"Hey Kenji, get up out of bed before I make you run across the beach with a 6-foot surfboard on your head!"
I got up, took a shower, brushed my teeth, and headed to the beach as fast as possible.
I barely made it in time and Mr. Souta came up to us with a weird look on his face.
"Good morning to you all. Today, you're going to learn the basics of surfing.
"We will be splitting into two groups. The name I called will come with me, and the Sakura call will go with her."
He called 6 of our names and handed us a rash guard and swimming trunks.
"You see those 8-foot surfboards over there, go and pick out one that you like, and that will be your personal surfboard."
I saw a surfboard that looked beautiful and I took a liking to it.
Mr. Souta told us to go into the water with our surfboard and don't do anything yet.
He rushed inside the camp and came back with an old-looking surfboard
"Hey, coach, what's up with your surfboard? It looks old?"
"This is the same surfboard my mentor gave me when I was your age."
He taught us how to lie down on the board and how to stabilize the surfboard.
"Guys, if you all can stabilize the surfboard, we will be moving on to the next stage."
He hopped on his surfboard and showed us how to stand on the surfboard.
He helped us one by one, and then, in the afternoon, he told us to take a break.
He went into the camp to grab us something to eat.
Thirty minutes passed, and we saw him and another woman come with lunch.
He introduced the lady to us
"This is my beloved wife, Nancy, and she will be the one making breakfast, lunch, and dinner for you guys, so better not waste the food!"
We thanked her for the food, and we ate it all.
The instructor told us that we would be going back in the water in the next thirty minutes to practice what we had just learned.
And so, in the meantime, I left and rushed to the restroom
On my way there I accidentally bumped and stumbled into Miss Sakura and hit my knee on the concrete floor.
She helped me get up and said in a soothing voice.
"I'm sorry that I bumped into you. I was in a rush and wasn't looking where I was going. Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry about it."
This pain was so excruciating, but I didn't want her to worry about me.
I told her I was in a rush and I was sorry, and I went to the restroom.
After I finished using the restroom, I was heading back to the beachside, and I saw a surfboard with the Initial k.k I said to myself.
"I wonder whose initial is?"
I headed back to the beachside and Mr. Souta called us and said it was time to start practicing.
We headed back out to practice and as the sun started to set.
"Ok, guys, it's time to wrap it up. Go take a shower and head to the dining hall."
I took a shower and headed to the dining hall; after I had finished eating, I headed back to my room and fell asleep.
